2 years have passed since your last goodnight. I had a good day today and somehow I just can't seem to shake the feeling that you were watching too. As the laughs and smiles passed my face today, I remembered you. For some reason today didn't beat me down with sadness but rather lifted me up with happiness. Today just reminded me of all your smiles and laughs, the way you seemed to light up my day through a screen. You never knew me but my dearest Jonghyun its because of you I'm alive and here. I found you in my darkest times and you still walk on holding a light in front of me. Today its 2 years since I woke up with the worst news of my life. Today it's been 2 years since you left and today it's 2 years of mourning your loss. Yet as i watch all the videos that I can find and listen to all your songs that I have, I smile. I smile in the celebration of the brilliant and shining life you lived and the gleaming legacy you've left behind. So move forward and start your next life. I promise I'll find you again this time. Please promise me th at you'll just wait until then. I promise I'll love you again then as I love you now. But now I'll remind you as I have been for the past 2 years.

You did well. You did your best and left me with the greatest memories. Now rest well my darling. I'll see you someday and until then I'll live smiling and laughing. Celebrating the boy who gave my life a reason and saved me from demons of my head. Rest well dearest and please smile as you look at me now.

Dear Kim Jonghyun,

It's been 3 years and I've grown up well. Your voice has been guiding me throughout this time and this date just serves as the reminder of the most hurtful loss that my heart has to feel every time I hear your voice or a SHINee song. Your voice completed the group and now somehow it feels like a vital part of the song is missing. But enough of my lament, you've been my moon in my darkest nights and you still are. The difference is that now you're actually close to the moon than to me. But it's ok, although I miss you a lot, I still know that you deserve rest after working so long, so hard and so well.

You did well my dear Jonghyun-ah.

You shine so bright and so steady that all my darkness was drained away. Rest well with the angels, and be happy. I'll see you in our next lives. I promise to live happy and to make you proud. When we meet, I'll tell you my adventures and you tell me yours.

Meta analysis. So many fake meta essays. Disturbingly good ones. And of course the memes. (Edit: HAVE I SAID THIS SHIT IS DISTURBING)

As you can see, the myth just started to grow, characters and ships and tropes being added one after the other, almost bizzarely without contradiction, until there was enough of shape to the whole thing for people to start posting fanfic about it on AO3. "No beta we die like ice-pick Joe" is already a tag.

It was hilarious in the beginning, but the way it's developed within less than a day, kind of like it's being willed into existence, is freaking me out a bit. We're toying with powers beyond our comprehension. 😂😂😂

Edit 2: Aparently the boots in the original post are actually referring to a movie called Gomorrah that came out in 2008, directed by Mateo Garrone, based on the Scampia Feud. And other people had also been making posts about the fake movie for a while before the poster took off.

I also just found out about the Goncharov Game Jam.

It appears this opened a day after after the meme took off.

Goncharov was first entered into Wikipedia between Day 4 and 5 (attempts to vandalise it with fake info don't count, incidentally – please knock that shit off) under List of Internet Phenomena. This was then expanded into its own Wikipedia page at the end of Day 5 because, according to the talk history: "the topic now meets the notability threshold for its own artice due to significant coverage in The New York Times and other sources cited." We're on Wikipedia, people!

And then we made The Guardian half a day later. So while the meme is definitely dying down to embers by now, it still stays winning.
