“HOLY SHIT ITS GRASS!!!”

realized I haven't posted anything with Horace or Sunny designs before-

A lot have been doing Modern Candle Cove AUs so here's my attempt, with my headcanons and personal ships thrown in

Percy is trans (female to male) who does freelance music work. He's pretty good with the guitar, viola and amazing with the flute. He's gay (the wiki says he's shown no interest in women so it can go two ways-)

Milo and Poppy are brothers still, they work in a bar and live together. Milo is a server and Poppy is the bouncer.

Janice is Percy's younger sister, (she's like fourteen/fifteen in this) who is still currently in school. She's a theatre kid with a pirate obsession.

Calvery works on a fishing boat with a bunch of other people but he's not close with really anyone.

Heartfelt is still a doctor, he just works in a hospital. His reputation is amazing. He's also a childhood friend of Calvery.

Sariah is a model because she's considered utterly gorgeous. She's Milo's childhood friend and his ex.

Sunny is a professional Paralympian with prosthetic arms. She met Sariah at the bar Poppy and Milo works at and they started dating.

Skin-Taker/Thade is a single dad who lives with his daughter Auburn, he asks Percy to babysit and the two bond. They become like Father and Son and Auburn is excited to have siblings.

Horace is a reformed criminal who loves reading fantasy books and mythology.

Lillian was Thade's wife who he utterly adores. She died when Auburn was four because of a house fire that left Thade with physical scars.

That's all I have really. Feel free to ask about anything in this.

I'm sick so here's my headcanons for the crew when they're sick.

Percy denies it, despite it being obvious. He hates how he is already a little babied by the crew. Heartfelt has to sternly tell him to rest as Percy will only listen to him

Janice, on the other hand, will be very vocal. For example, if she's sick but has chores she'll be like, "Can you please do it? I'm sick :(" and use it like a get out of jail free card in monopoly.

Milo will sleep, that's it

Calvery will keep going like usual, he'd have to be killed or locked up to actually stop.

Poppy will try to nurse himself only to say "fuck it" and sleep it off

Heartfelt will nurse himself and quarantine, being the only doctor on the ship. He has to nurse everyone else when he's not though.

Salty JoJo does not get sick and if he does, it's a cold at most.

Sariah tries a combination of natural remedies and actual medicine. If it's something like a stomach ache or sore throat, she'll use natural stuff, if it's the flu or something like it, she'll go to Heartfelt

Y'know-

I think simping for Poppy and Heartfelt along with making Skin-Taker more sympathetic says a lot about my relationship with my father-

But hey, what doesn't say something like that about anyone? Anyway, I have Skin-Taker/Thade Soben headcanons and if anyone asks I will deliver. One thing I will say is if he wasn't insane, he'd be a good dad.

Poppy would be too and you can't change my mind. Heartfelt? Probably but idk-

So, one of my favorite things to do ever is just comb through the candle cove wiki to see how many obscure, barely mentioned story aspects and characters I can find so that I can have more stuff to adapt into my au, and one day I stumbled across this one mention of a character named Thera who has earth magic and is apparently related to skin-taker (???). I'm not joking when I say this is literally the only mention of her I can find in the entire wiki, and I'm about 80% there's hardly anyone else who knows she exists. So naturally I gave her a design concept as if she were a part of the main cast.
