“Oh, my darling,” Jade mumbles tenderly. Fingers softly slide and tangle into her lover’s hair as foreheads gently meet. The knight closes her eyes, letting out a relaxing breath. “No more thinking. Council’s over. No more responsibilities.” They’ve been apart all day, which happens on occasion, much to their dismay. Most of the time, Jade sits in on the war council with Kit, Elora, and Sorsha as they prepare for the Wyrm. She is a knight now after all and she lived through the quest to save Airk and the battle against the Crone. Her opinion is valued. But she also has to take time to be a rather low ranking knight, to train with the other members of the Pacalcade, to teach some of the young students. She needs the camaraderie and to rebuild her reputation. She has to admit, though, she missed watching Kit be the authoritative leader she was always meant to be. But it was probably best Jade wasn’t there to give her lustful glances for hours. “Just be with me.”

Jade doesn't argue when Kit steps inside. Ever since they met a few years ago and started the band, Kit has come to know this place like her own anyway. Jade shuts the door and turns to follow her friend further inside. The wet squeak of Kit's shoes immediately annoys her, but Jade ignores it. Kit will take them off soon enough and get comfortable.

"Kit, you're soaking wet," she points out. She tosses the blanket she's had wrapped around herself for hours onto the couch. "We need to warm you up. You'll get sick." Instinctively, Jade grabs her hand and begins leading her towards the bathroom. How strange that they were in the midst of not talking before Ballantine passed... well, Jade wasn't speaking to Kit. "What did you do? Walk here?"

ㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤkit's concentration wasn't in the music nor could she care less about the label's discussion of the band's next venue. all she could think about was jade; her best friend. the muscle in her chest has ached all day, and it only took an hour and a half for her to get up and leave.

ㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤappearing at jade's door, completely sodden isn't exactly what kit had envisioned when she decided on checking in, but here she is - short strands gluing themselves to pinked cheeks. turns out that running... not her thing. door opens and kit's stomach sinks, she's greeted by someone unlike the familiarity she's used to.ㅤ❛❛ㅤgot - got bored,ㅤ❜❜ㅤshe explains, breathlessly. without waiting for an invite, kit passes jade and squelches her way into the house. she doesn't know why she can't say that she misses her, that she's worried about jade, but the words refuse to speak themselves into existence.ㅤ❛❛ㅤlabel stuff can wait.ㅤ❜❜ㅤyou're more important.

Honestly, being an adult is so weird. Your birthday hits and you’re just like “Wait, I’m how old?!” Anyway, I’m 31 apparently.

But Ingvar, despite sharing her soft heart, does not seem to share her lack of compunction for violence. And that’s okay.
