TOPGUNtober day one!!
I’m gonna post a fic a week this month so here’s a snippet of the fic I’ll be posting on Saturday to celebrate the first day
Prompt: forced proximity
Phoenix came home from her sister‘s baby shower to find Jake and Bradley napping together on the couch. Bradley‘s stache was smushed into Jake‘s shirt and Jake‘s strong thighs – of which both his partners were huge fans – were cradled around Bradley‘s upper body, keeping him from slipping off.
Her mouth was halfway open.
She had been about to make a loud, obnoxious comment and see them jump – about how cozy they looked, teasing them and taking revenge for the way they didn‘t have to play dumb baby naming games with a bunch of suburban blondes who all wore the same outfit and had boring names like Kelly that actually spelled like Keleigh.
But then something had stopped her. She had taken in the sight of her two guys. Who were indeed looking very cozy.
They looked… peaceful.
The bags under Jake‘s eyes had faded a little since she had left that morning, and his jaw wasn‘t clenched for once.
He had been having bouts of insomnia recently, although he had tried to hide it from them.
She hadn’t seen Bradley‘s shoulders this relaxed for weeks.
She shut her mouth and pulled out her phone instead, taking a picture. She needed a new screensaver to get her through her next deployment, and the way her heart warmed as she looked at her partners brought a smile to her face.
She shuffled off her shoes as silently as she could and eyed the blanket over the back of the couch.
She could use a nap, too, and their armchair was in perfect position to gaze upon the picture Jake and Bradley made.
She would make fun of them when they woke up by themselves.
Maybe.
