San Francisco was a hot spot. A literal hot spot, it seemed like the sun never stopped shining there for more than a few moments. What was it that was so attractive to people about California? Was there some innate sense of manifest destiny in these young people even in the 21st century? It seemed unlikely, but what was clear for sure was that rich kids really tried to fool themselves thinking they’re “someone” by living in what is probably a literal hell on earth.
Jordi scoffed at the thought. What did it matter? They’d all waste their lives away in no time anyway. Waste it, or at least blow their money on something stupid. Young people were good at that. He watched another pair walk past the alley, not even paying him any mind as he sat behind the wheel of his car. They were talking, he could hear them. Excited about something, showing it off on their phones.
“Nope, it’s not you,” Whoever this girl was-- kid he should say, recalling the details of their file-- he figured she would likely stick out enough to him. All these hackers around this town were the same, it wasn’t the same as it was in Chicago. Technology grew more and more all the time. Annoying, as the CtOS cameras continued to glance his way now and then, “Not here, not now, not ever.”
He started the car again. moving it to a more secluded location, something that wasn’t stared at by the cameras. God was there anywhere in this city they weren’t looking? Once Jordi felt more out of sight, he checked his gun was loaded and left the car to just walk. The ones who hired him had been specific about what they wanted from the target. She knew something she shouldn’t. Jordi just had to get it, or kill them. Easy. Idly, he pulled his leather gloves out, pulling them on one at a time. Slow, methodic, as his eyes scanned the area. Keeping behind the cars on the side of the street, he spotted them.
A smile pulled at his lips a bit, “Well well, there you are,” he hummed to himself, moving closer to her.
