i feel like emotionally the difference between writing fanfic and original shit is kind of the “if you want to bake a pie, you must first create the universe” thing, where in original stuff, you have to create the universe so that you can tell your dumb story about boys kissing and baking the pie means u gotta like, make sure atoms exist first, but in fanfic you can hop into someone else’s universe, kinda scope out the physics and the way gravity works, and wander into someone’s kitchen and bake the pie no problemo.
