Bucky isn’t oblivious, as much as Natasha wants to debate that he is, he truly isn’t… Okay, well he isn’t oblivious when it comes to the business and Tony. Everything else is fair game. So, it’s no surprise to anyone when Bucky notices that Tony is late coming home one night. 

Some might say that Bucky is overreacting, and that Tony is just running a bit late. (Though, they would never ever say that to Bucky’s face, afraid to upset the Mob Boss. The only people brave enough are his family, the Avengers.) But Bucky is certain he isn’t. He was about to call in Sharon and Sam when Bucky spots Tony trying to silently sneak past him. Bucky narrows his eyes when he notices the disheveled look that Tony is sporting and how he curled into himself. 

“Doll?” Bucky hesitantly calls out. 

Tony suddenly freezes and lets out a small whimper. 

That whimper catches Bucky’s attention. He slowly makes his way over to Tony. Bucky frowns when he sees bruises scattered upon his lover’s arms. His eyes scanned over Tony’s body, looking for more injuries. The worry and concern that Bucky has been sporting the whole evening, ends up growing a tenth-fold when his eyes land on Tony’s hand that was clutching his side. 

Bucky’s eyes widen when he moves Tony’s hand away and spots a dark red. 

Blood.

It was fucking blood. 

Quickly, Bucky lifts Tony into his arms and hastily heads to their med-bay that they have in their manor. 

“HELEN! BRUCE!” He calls out, hoping that someone can hear him. “I NEED YOU TWO IN THE MED-BAY ASAP! TONY’S HURT!” 

Bucky carefully sets Tony down on the bed, trying his best to comfort Tony when he lets out a small cry. “I know it hurts, babydoll. Helen and Bruce will be here soon, okay?”

Helen and Bruce arrived ten seconds later. A small gasp escapes Helen’s mouth when she notices the blood. Bruce ends up a bit shocked at the state of Tony. Luckily, they were able to snap out of their daze moment and get to work before Bucky snapped at them.

Late that night, Tony is lying peacefully on the bed, his injuries carefully tended to, with Bucky sitting in a chair to his right. Bucky held tightly onto Tony’s hand, afraid to let go, as if he let go someone would come and hurt Tony again.

“Honey?” 

Tony’s voice breaks Bucky out of his thoughts. Bucky lifts his head and looks at the scratches that covered one side of Tony’s face. 

“I’m okay,” Tony reassured. 

Bucky shook his head. “You’re not. You were shot, Tony. That’s… that’s not okay!” 

Tony looks down, knowing that what happened to him, wasn’t okay whatsoever.

Bucky tilts Tony’s chip up and moves his hand to cup Tony’s uninjured cheek. He looks at Tony, his gaze hard and jaw clenched, trying his best to keep his anger contained. “Who did this to you?”

Tony stays silent. 

“Tony,” Bucky pushes. “Please,” his voice quiet and tense, “tell me who did this to you.”

“HYDRA.”

Hellooooo shippers of all Marvel ships!

This marks the kickoff to HEA (Happily Ever After) Marvel’s Hallmark Event! If you don’t know us, we’re a group of crafty mods under the direction of our own personal Pepper Potts ( @betheflame​​ ), so really, this is going to be great fun, and we hope that you’ll join us!

A brief intro to our event:

At no point do you need to sign up for this event. You are not beholden to post anything, even if you say that you will. This is a guiltless, fun event!

Pick a prompt, any prompt!

Interpret the prompt any which way you wish. We have prompt examples available for people to peruse on our blog and on our Discord, if you’re in need of a few examples.

Write (or art, podfic, or moodboard, etc.) any ship you want, even polyamorous relationships of any number or type (even if the prompts contain just two characters!).

Include additions from our badge list if you wish! They function like video game achievements (think World of Warcraft, or Xbox) and you will be rewarded with little achievement badges designed by the wonderful @kocuria​ that you can display anywhere you please.

The collection will open on November 1st and close on December 24th.

Around then we will provide a Google form to submit the badge info and other info for your fic.

BUT REMEMBER! All contributions to this event must have a Happily Ever After as per Hallmark standards (doesn’t mean there can’t be tons of angst and pain in the middle, though).
