SFW Rec Monday: Modern/No Powers AU

Speed Dating (Isn't Supposed to Happen in Cars) by orbingarrow Tony's temporarily broke due to a scandal at Stark Industries, and with no one willing to hire him, he's got to get creative in how to get by.  When he reads about a solar-powered car race that pays out in the millions, he knows he can win it. He just needs a car, all the parts, a racing team, a sponsor, a driver, and like a gajillion other things he does not have. What he does have is: one whole month, an Air Force pilot, an heiress, two enthusiastic teenagers, a discredited science teacher, three ex-cons, a high-tech robot disguised as a Roomba, and a wicked crush on the guy from YouTube. Seriously, how can he lose? They are absolutely adorable, and work great together as a team!

Hindsight by Amethystina Ever since he was a little boy, Bucky has dreamed of becoming an astronaut together with Steve, and he can hardly believe their luck when both of them are picked for the Ares 3 crew — the third expedition sent to explore Mars. It is, quite literally, a dream come true. Things get complicated when Bucky finds himself inconveniently attracted to their mechanical engineer, however. Tony Stark is funny, competent, and absolutely captivating, but considering NASA's strict non-fraternization policy, Bucky knows it's better to keep his interest to himself — at least until they return to Earth. He can wait. Not once does Bucky consider the possibility that all of them might not make it back alive, or just how much he'll come to regret not acting when he had the chance. Very much a favorite - both the developing of the romance and everything else that’s going on.

Return to Neverland by weethreequarter Bucky Barnes hasn’t returned home in five years, the guilt and shame ensuring that he stayed away. But suddenly he finds himself standing on his family’s front porch when he rescues an abused horse, hoping that his family can help it like they’ve helped so many others. But returning home isn’t that simple. Bucky has to face not only his family, but also what kept him from returning home all these years. It’s not all bad though: at least there is the hot dickhead who works for his sister with the ass that just won’t quit.  The way they bond in this is great and incredibly organic.

Tony wasn't supposed to be involved.

As much as it had started out as trying to help out, and as much as Bucky still believed he was doing the right thing, he knew he'd made enemies. People that wanted him hurt, wanted him out.

People that would go through others to get what they wanted.

He couldn't believe he'd thought they wouldn't find out. Of course they would. He should've just ignored his stupid attraction, should've walked away from Tony. Should have kept him safe.

Now he was missing, and Bucky had no clue where he was. And as he searched for Tony, he worried. If he was hurt, if he was even still alive.

Bucky would find him, though. He would find Tony, and he'd make whoever had taken him regret it.
