I chose to end the Inquisition in my canon world state, and even though it's been ten years since I first played Dragon Age: Inquisition I keep imagining my Inquisitor sitting alone at Skyhold. How long did it take for everyone to trickle out? How long did she last in Skyhold with all the reminders? Did she feel guilty letting everyone go or was a relief to no longer be the head of such an organisation? Did she stay there even after everyone left? How did it feel to leave her home (if she did leave, especially if her clan got massacred)?

I can imagine her sitting on her throne for the last time, or if she ended up alone at Skyhold just wandering the halls and rooms that are covered in big tapestries and sheets to protect what they had built. (Because for a lot of people Skyhold was home and they couldn't travel with all the furniture that filled the place.)

Just think about how lonely it must have been. Even if she wasn't alone, her friends were gone. We all know how the advisors and companions moved on and even though we had better see them all again, frankly some will be different and will have lives beyond the letters they write to the Inquisitor.

And I can imagine my girl being the last one there, afraid to leave the last momentos of Solas too. Just staring up at the murals. I can see her conviction coming in and feeling determined to stop Solas, or to find him again. But before that determination, she felt abandoned and betrayed and alone.

Just picture your Inquisitor curled up on the throne without anyone to even listen after the whole world used to pay attention.

I know us Solasmancers had the lonely balcony scene at the end of the base game, but think of the slow departures of her companions leaving Skyhold and the Inquisition. Sure they reunite in two years, but how much has changed? And in the ten years between Trespasser and Veilguard, don't get me started.

Basically, I'm emotional imagining my Lavellan all alone in such a big place. I know she leaves eventually and maybe she was never alone, but I'm sure she felt it nevertheless.

Fic idea: Clan Lavellan is wandering the Frostbacks until they come upon Skyhold. They decide to camp there for a while and after a bit, they start having nightmares. Seeking to combat the source of these nightmares, Keeper Deshanna sends her First to search the castle and root out the demons causing the bad dreams. Her resourceful First ends up coming upon an eluvian, which prompts Fen'Harel to reveal himself in the dreams of the entire clan, demanding that they not only vacate permanently, but leave behind their First. Reluctantly, they do.

The First is certain Fen'Harel will kill her, instead he gives her some tasks involving magic and various puzzles. After a few months, the Dread Wolf tells her that the next morning, an elf named Solas will appear in the courtyard. She is to accompany him to the Conclave at the Temple of Sacred Ashes and assist him.
