impulseSV x Samurai Jack

For Impulse I chose Samurai Jack!

Samurai Jack takes place in a post-apocalyptic cyberpunk future, so I thought this would suit Impulse well given his build theme and skin this season.

Samurai Jack is a 90s cartoon created by Genndy Tartakovsky. The story follows a samurai prince from a fictional version of Japan who battles a shapeshifting entity of evil named Aku. Right as Aku is about to lose to the samurai, he tears a hole in time and throws the samurai into the future.

Once in the future, the samurai, given the nickname Jack by locals, must find a way to travel back to his own time to defeat the immortal Aku and prevent the future from being shaped under Aku's malicious control.

Samurai Jack is a fantastic, imaginative cartoon that deserves to be called art. Not only are the character designs fantastic, many of the episode concepts themselves are interesting and thought-provoking in a way not achieved by many other shows.

The show originally ran for four seasons and was not concluded. Twelve years later, an fifth season aired that completed the story. The first four seasons are suitable for all ages, but the fifth season is significantly more mature. I highly recommend watching the entire series, including the fifth season, which is a fantastic conclusion to the story.

Samurai Jack is one of the best cartoons I've ever watched At first I didn't want to give it a chance as a kid because the concept seemed so weird but once I finally watched it I was like dang this is incredible actually Impulse's theme this season reminds me a lot of Aku City from the show but with a purple and black theme rather than red and black impulsesv hermitcraft hermitaday

It's been a challenge so far to try and mimic so many different styles. Some are way easier to do than others within the time limit of the challenge, but I'm definitely learning a lot!

Scar x Treasure Planet

Minecraft youtuber GoodTimesWithScar on a sailing ship in space. He's climbing the ropes that hang off the mast (I don't know what they're called) and smiling. Behind him is a beautiful nebula. Beneath him is the name Scar in a metallic gold script with a fancy pattern inlaid in the letters.

For Scar I chose the incredible and underrated Disney move, Treasure Planet!

I loved Treasure Planet as a kid and still consider it one of the best animated Disney movies ever. However, it didn't do well critically (for various reasons I won't get into) and so there's never anything Treasure Planet related at the parks and lots of people have never seen it, which is such a shame.

I picked this movie for Scar because I am trying to manifest Scar watching Treasure Planet someday. This movie is like if a team of Disney animators sat down and brainstormed a list of stuff Scar has said he likes and then made a movie out of it.

Treasure Planet is a sci-fi adaptation of Robert Louis Stevenson's Treasure Island. The story follows a young man named Jim Hawkins who grows up on stories about the legendary space pirate, Captain Flint. Upon finding a map to the fabled Treasure Planet, Jim embarks on a journey to find the treasure.

In his adventures across the vastness of space, he makes friends, sails through nebulas, and faces down dangerous space pirates who want the treasure for themselves. The story is action-packed and heartfelt, with a strong cast of memorable characters and a beautiful, astronautical setting.

If you haven't seen Treasure Planet I highly recommend watching it. It's only about an hour and a half long and it's well worth the time.

Style references:

Two futuristic sailing ships flying through a beautiful nebula. The further one is larger and has golden sails. The one coming up behind it is smaller and has red sails. The smaller ship also has a black flag, indicating that it is a pirate ship.

Did I mention that the movie is beautiful? It's a mix of traditional and computer animation that works very well for the genre.

Bonus: I want to show you my favourite character even though I didn't use her as a reference at all.

A picture of Captain Amelia, the beautiful and fierce alien space Captain. She looks a little bit like a cat but with humanoid features and presumably no fur on her face. She is dressed in a formal blue uniform similar to an old English navy uniform and is speaking to someone out of frame.
