No really, I’ve noticed this too, especially as Never Love an Anchor is being popular on TikTok. People are using that to shop characters to when it’s… not about that. Not in the slightest.

I don’t know if it’s just because people hear a small snippet of the song and don’t think past that or they’re purposefully skewing what the songs are about but either way, it’s annoying.

people do The Crane Wives so dirty because they have songs about everything: toxic relationships, ancestry, love, loss, making mistakes, impostor syndrome, adoption, and so much more and not only do people make it all about romantic love (and choose the worst songs to do so lmao), but you have people PISSED at the obviously fucked up implications of these misplaced metaphors, but instead of taking it out on the people misinterpreting it, they take it out on THE LYRICS and I have to see a post with over a 100k notes saying "shut up" to one of the best lyrics from the band because it hurts their little ship, it's such a disservice
