McLaren have screwed themselves so much more with that behavior than if they had just MADE A DECISION and stuck with it. Now Lando comes off as mercurial and petty and Oscar’s first win comes off as a handout. Excellent work from one of the most decorated f1 teams ever!!

from looking through the radio messages to lando before pitting a swap was never discussed with him only told he was pitting to protect from lewis. mclaren completely fucked their strategy and not only put a dampener on oscar’s maiden win, which just feels so shitty, but also has brought an avalanche of hate landos way(more so than usual) because he as a driver didn’t want to hand over a win. but realistically if lando had immediately given the place over to oscar im sure people would have said his heads not in it and that he doesn’t care enough and for mclaren to put that all on him is so unfair. lando doesn’t make strategy calls for the whole team and yet he’s being made to take the brunt of their bad decisions time and time again. in oscar’s words mclaren told the drivers that all they had to do was finish 1-2 and if lando had stayed ahead they would have still been 1-2, the whole situation could have been so easily avoided if the team just stood on calls instead of getting the drivers to risk their races time and time again. and also those radio messages throughout the race to lando just sounded so unprofessional guilt tripping lando into swapping by basically threatening him.
