Misty’s visit
Misty the horse wasn’t feeling well. As her person wrote:
Misty, has a lot of bumps and bruises. One leg is no longer “stiff”, all four hooves are torn, misc seams are loose, and she’s sadly very dirty. Do you think you can help?
Here are her initial diagnosis photos:
Now a horse with sore feet can’t run or even graze easily, and we couldn’t have that! Plus, she really needed a bath and some currying. So shetrotted down the coast from Oregon for a bit of a spa:
As with most patients, she got a new heart with a bit of her original stuffing:
Her person and I agreed that we’d recover her hooves in velvet rather than the original faux leather. Then they wouldn’t peel the same way. Here she is cleand and happy, with her healthy new feet, ready to go galloping back north:
“Perfect!” said her person. So Misty flew home. Soon after her person wrote:
Beth!!!!
Thank you SO much! Misty arrived home safe and improved! Honestly, I cannot believe the work you do. I haven’t cried this much since I got her for my 8th birthday!
I am so grateful! Thank you!
Here is my @rdrsecretcupid2020 art piece!

One reason that it’s important to keep your tegu at a healthy body weight- see how her side in the sun is flattened out? Tegus can increase their surface area when they’re basking for more efficient solar absorption. It lets them heat up and control their temperature better. When tegus get too fat, the lateral skin stretches over the fat deposits, and they can’t turn into sun-worshipping pancakes. A nice lateral line is a hallmark of a healthy body condition.

Textile Art + Science = Crocheted Chemistry
Dallas, TX-based textile artist Lauren Espy just completed crocheting the cutest chemistry set we’ve ever seen. Each handmade piece of amigurumi lab equipment, colorful beakers and test tubes, and a fiery little bunsen burner (our favorite), wears a smiling face that clearly says they’re ready to do some awesome science.
Follow Lauren Espy on Instagram to check out more of her crocheted creations. Espy sells some of her pieces via her Etsy shop, where she plans to list smaller pieces of crocheted chemistry equipment in the near future. So stay tuned!

In honor of our lord and savior
“What do you pray for, Ser Jorah?”
“Home.”
“I pray for home, too.”
