freaky fungi fact - mycology vocab :-)
deliquescence : the process of certain fungi (most often ink caps) where they turn to liquid.
this process is observed in a handful of different fungi !! as their caps mature, they furl inward & turn to a spore-filled, inky liquid.
yes, this liquid can be harvested & used for actual pen ink. :-) just make sure to add preservatives to avoid it causing a rotten smell.
to use it in a sentence : the mushrooms above are experiencing deliquescence ; they are deliquescing !! ink caps are deliquescent.

There was this guy that I became friends with in my junior year of high school, and I started sitting at his table at the same time that our biology class was doing a project that involved growing bacteria, and he sat right in front of the oven we kept the bacteria in and it always smelled so weird at that table so for the longest time I thought the odd smell was the bacteria, but then when I saw him again the next year in the hall I realised that no actually that was just how he smelled
You wouldn’t think that flamingoes are extremophiles just from looking at them. It’s like somebody tried to build the vertebrate equivalent of that fungus that lives inside nuclear reactors, and ended up with a gangly pink dinosaur with a spoon for a face.

Did you know that your brain actually flashes your life in front of your eyes when you die?
It's actually not a wholesome explanation as many would believe it to be. They tell you it's your brain trying to remember your happy moments one last time, but that's not what happens.
It's your brain frantically trying to stay alive.
When you were a kid, when you fell, you always took note of the object or situation which hurt you, trying to never repeat that again as to not hurt yourself again.
It's the same thing in death.
It's your brain scouring, tearing apart your memories, frantically searching for something, something that will keep you alive.
It's your brain grasping at the straws of anything similar to the feeling of your body shutting down, permanently this time.
Problem is, you have never died before. You have passed out, cut your hand or scratched your knees, broken your bones and hurt yourself in any way imaginable.
But you haven't died.
But it's all fruitless, because you only die once.
And it's the gutwrenching realization that it can't do anything.
It searches for a solution.
"What am I gonna do?"
"What can I do?"
You can't bring back someone from death, and neither can your brain.
Because death is an ailment you can't heal from.

today the day in the lab was quite coloured, nothing really difficult but was funny, mainly in the Na mettalic part
