“I’ve got no time, need to read.”

Taehyung studies your form. Your posture is terrible. Squatting on the floor with dozens and dozens of books surrounding you and your back hunched over. The room smells of too little oxygen and burned down candles.

“Darling. The dinner is finished”, Taehyung repeats himself.

“And I told you, leave me alone!” you scream at him, but Taehyung doesn’t budge.

“___ please come with me and eat something”, he tries in a soft voice.

“I can’t”, you insist, “can’t you see? I have so much to read.”

“The reading isn’t going to go anywhere.”

“Yes, yes it will. I have to finish this.”

“Come now, let’s eat something”, Taehyung tries only to get one of the books thrown at him.

“Get out!”

He catches it before it can hit his chest, letting out a worried sigh afterwards.

“___ sweetest”, he tries, setting the book down on one of the countless desks. They were all bending under the weight of too many books and trinkets. He steps over the circle of books and squats down next to you, “let’s get you something to eat, please.”

“Why can’t you listen?” you hiss, flinching when you feel his touch on your arm.

“Because I care about you and I want you to be healthy.”

“I’m okay.”

“No you are not, you haven’t had breakfast nor lunch and I can’t allow you to miss out on dinner as well.”

“I’ll eat later.”

“___ please.”

“No. Leave.”

“___ I’m serious. Come with me or I’ll start using force.”

“I’ll give you an aneurism if you try.”

Taehyung sighs in defeat.

“Please, come with me”, he says softly, caressing your arm.

“I can’t”, you spit, looking at him with your bloodshot, tired eyes, “it’s been two months and I can’t slack now. I have to figure it out. All of it. What happened back then, why he is in such a state and how I can fucking fix it.”

“You, you addressed me by name and told me that you need to talk. That’s basically double bad.”

“Just”, he intertwines his fingers with yours, “come with me please.”

“Yoongi, you’re scaring me. Did I do something?”

“No love, you didn’t. I did.”

“You did?”

Yoongi nods his head, closing the door to the secret study behind him. It is located upstairs behind a bookshelf and up until recently, you had no idea that it even existed. You only found out about it because you caught Taehyung and Yoongi disappearing inside it and you followed them. They stared at you as if you were a ghost and then babbled all about how it was too dangerous for you to be here.

“What are we doing here? I thought I wasn’t allowed in here because of the curses and stuff.”

“I lied. Partially. I was keeping something from you. You still shouldn’t touch anything.”

“Okay, sounds very confusing”, you murmur, studying his face.

“Just-”, he stops talking and sits down in front of the desk, pulling you on top of his lap instead.

“Oh? That’s comfortable”, you say, rubbing his shoulder softly. You are sitting on him sideways, feeling very safe that way.

“Mhm”, he agrees but looks anxious.

“What’s the matter, love? What’s so secretive that you couldn’t tell me until now?” you ask him, caressing his cheek. 

He leans into the touch, placing his hands on your hips safely. 

“I have to tell you something, which I kept from you. I, I thought that it would be best if I did, but I need your advice.”

“Okay, talk to me.”

“___, I found a cure for vampirism.”

You sometimes wonder how your life would have turned out had you stayed with your parents. Would you be happier or would you be living in your own personal Hell? Those are questions you know the answer to already. You would have escape nonetheless. One day, you would have left no matter what. You may not have ended up at this specific university with these specific secrets, but you still would have ended up somewhere else. Somewhere where people looked into your eyes and where simply being alive was already enough.

Being alive is a funny thing. Everything and everyone could kill you at any time. You breathe whilst sometimes feeling like drowning. Your heart beats even after getting it shattered. Your brain continues to produce thoughts, no matter how much one may beg it to stop. Your limbs continue working for as long as they are destined to work. And yet everything, every single thing works to one single goal. Death. That one day all this working may finally stop.

Death is an ever funnier thing. You wonder if you would look at it the way you do these days after everything you have been through. You wonder if you would still be as scared of it as you were back then, if you never knew how it feels to come so close to it. Maybe you would live happier though. Despite your fear. Maybe you wouldn’t have to think of all the lives you ended and just how death is certain for everyone. No matter if it comes in ten years, three days or five centuries. Everyone dies eventually.

Are you dead? Is that why you are thinking about it right now? Is this your brain’s last job? To make you think about how everyone dies? Didn’t people always say that one thinks of one’s life if death was near? But what is there to think about really? Thinking about it hurts too much. Your grandmother left, your parents hated you and you failed to reunite the only family which felt like home. Yoongi. You failed to save him.

Your eyes open. The lights are so bright that it hurts. You blink to get rid of the pain. Wait a minute. You can’t be dead. You still feel like shit. This isn’t the afterlife, you’re still on earth.

Your vision returns to you and for just a second you wished that it would have given you a little more time to adjust. Yoongi is right there, sleeping on the pillow next to you and with his face glowing in life.

I'm happy that she had that honest talk with Tae and that they forgave each other. There's nothing better than proper communication.

I was so anxious when she was about to stab Yoongi. I was worried because what if it didn't work 😕 and now she's hurt and passed out 😭 I hope it's nothing that a drop of vampire's blood can't fix.

Now it's Yoongi's turn to heal her.

“Sweetest, you are back”, Taehyung greets you atop the marvel stairs, hurrying down in light steps, “you look well-rested. How were your days by the coast?” he asks.

Jimin is atop the stairs as well, appearing after having heard Taehyung call out for you. He is still in his painting clothes, cheek covered in the remnants of a light sky blue.

“Yeah, yeah they were good. Really good. I can’t stay for long, I have to test something out”, you dismiss him, slipping out of your coat quickly with his help.

Taehyung, who wanted to lean in for a sweet kiss, gets denied as you hurry past him with nothing but the cellar in mind.

“So…it didn’t help”, Taehyung says with utter heartbreak in his voice, dropping your coat on the ground as his body sinks into itself in defeat.

“Don’t run away! Taehyung asked you a question”, Jimin calls out, placing a protective arm over Taehyung’s shoulder. He even tries to make himself bigger by puffing out his chest.

“What?” you stop, looking over your shoulder, “oh no, they helped. I finally figured it out, Tae. I know what to do.”

“What?”

“I know what to do. I can save Yoongi”, you say and smile before turning away to hurry to the cellar.

The vampires follow you.

“How did you figure it out? Where are we going? What are you doing?” Taehyung asks.
