Im Here, Im Obsessed And Im Depressed

I’m here, I’m obsessed and I’m depressed

Actually I think that’s the entire fandom (aka like 3 people)

how has no one else in the world read the Underland Chronicles and how is no one else as obsessed with them as I am like ???

I love that female leaders are so normalized in TUC. Luxa, Weavox, Athena, and the cutter monarch are all queens. Luxa acts surprised when Gregor asks if women have an equal claim to the throne as men; no one ever doubts them on behalf of their gender. Solovet, Lapblood, and Perdita are respected leaders, too, and we can pretty safely assume Nike is, as she was selected as the flier representative. Grace could easily be seen as a leader, too.

There’s never any “ooooh she can’t do it because she’s a girl” subplots either, which I understand can be empowering, but frankly it’s kind of an ugly reminder, and going without it is refreshing. They’re all presented for the most part as flawed, well rounded characters, and they’re not held to stupidly high expectations, nor do they have their leadership abilities as their only personality trait.

And there’s female characters who aren’t necessarily warriors or leaders, but they’re still shown as strong and talented and unique in their own right!!

Thanks, Suzanne.

I've seen people compare Ripred to Haymitch and honestly I can't help but agree because they're both so similar in many ways.

- grumpy asshole who accidentally ends up caring about the protagonists

- certified bastard

- tragic backstory

- very well known but maybe not for the best reasons

- can be seen as lazy and crude but is super smart and can be deadly

- hard to kill

- giant bullies

- rat

Artemis Fowl is THE BEST and the Underland Chronicles too plz read them if you haven’t

how everyone ignores the existence of artemis fowl fucking baffles me it has poc rep and the female villain doesnt do it for some stupid reason guys What how are you capable of completely shoving that kind of story aside its sci-fi and fantasy you guys are wild i don’t get how such a passionate tale just goes overlooked

same thing with the underland chronicles like. IT HAS GIANT RATS AND GIANT BATS AND PURPLE-EYED HUMANS AND A CUTE BABY NAMED BOOTS

how does literally everyone ever overlook those great book series what the FUCK

and yes i am aware this is the shuuen blog do i care No
