The Barbie movie's commentary on patriarchy was amazing but one thing that stuck out to me with it was it's commentary on how patriarchy effects both women AND men.

Like, it obviously holds back and oppresses women but it also hurts the men that are taking advantage of the system that they put in place.

Patriarchy gives this falsehood image to men that they are great and should be respected for the sole reason that they are men and that their 'manly' attitudes and materialistic objects give them value. That is very obviously not true but if literal children are being taught this and seeing this from the second they were born, they're gonna take it as the objective truth when it really isn't.

This falsehood leads to grown men with fragile egos to never be able to show emotions other than anger or lust for the fear that if they do then they won't be 'manly' and thus won't possess value. And that further leads to toxic masculinity, sexism and men being unable to form the close emotional relationships they so obviously want because they simply do not have the emotional maturity.

Point is, patriarchy is the most stupidest thing in the world and we should burn it down and eat it's corpse :)
