What made you start animating and drawing in the "weird" style?

Blunt head trauma. I used to exclusively draw realistic graphite sketches of steam locomotives, but after the skiing accident every attempt at a train comes out as a wacky animated cartoon monster or something, completely independent of any natural artistic progression, my personal interests and influences, or who I am as a person. Someone please help!

Have you considered submitting Double King to the Oscars next year? I'm really not kidding when I say it might have a serious chance in the animated short category.

Thank you, but it has zero chance. In order to be considered for an Oscar, you have to first win an “Academy Award Qualifying” film festival. Film festivals are great fun, I enter them all the time, but a LOT of them (including all of the Academy Award qualifying festivals I’m aware of) will not accept films that have already been released on the internet.There’s legitimate reasons for festivals to do this, and some are festivals I’d otherwise love to be involved in, but I just CAN’T be BOTHERED. I’m not keeping my films offline for 2 years so they can be exclusively seen by industry folk and art wankers (such as myself), only to be released to the general public once they’re old and I don’t like them anymore.As much as recognition from other filmmakers is nice, I’m so much more interested in having my work seen by people in general. People who can’t afford or don’t live near film festivals, or who just wouldn’t have known about or considered going to them in the first place. I’d never exclude that audience for approval from festival-goers, and I’d DEFINITELY never exclude that audience for an incredibly slim chance of approval from whoever the hell “The Academy” is.
