Every character has the potential to be someone’s favorite, no matter how little screen time they have. With as varied and colorful a cast as Dashing Youth, this is especially true. With many watchers nearly at the halfway point and others a little over three-quarters of the way through, I figured now would be a good time to start spreading some love!

Needle Granny

First off, we have the Needle Granny. She has a cool design and is pretty intimidating.

Tang Xuance

Next, we have Tang Xuance. His vibes in both shows are interesting, and I like the way he moves.

Eunuch Cheng

Finally, we have Eunuch Cheng. He’s pretty adorable and his interaction with Baili Luochen is amusing and intriguing.

Aaaah, I thought it sounded familiar! I just checked, and you’re absolutely right! Fittingly, considering Dark River’s presence, the song is named Black Blade 😹

Ooh! Such a fascinating thought! Interestingly, there’s already a bit of an opposition drawn between the Five Eunuchs and Dark River in the novel, insofar as Jin Xuan believes that he and Su Changhe cannot coexist—they agreed when they first met that the Imperial Court belongs to Jin Xuan and the Martial Arts World to Su Changhe. It’s definitely interesting thinking about how Jin Xian and Su Muyu might parallel each other in some ways, while their bosses hate each other yet assist the same prince.

I don't know if its just me but Eunuch Jin Xian reminds me of Su Muyu. They are similar in a way both of them can be corrupted in a place where they work at. Court politics and Assassin organization? But somehow they are not tainted and manage to be still righteous in their own way? The way Jin Xian emphatize with his fellow eunuch and want to avenge them reminds me of Su Muyu feeling bad about Su Changli's death saying the youth is not an assassin but more like a warrior so he don't deserve that death?

The finale has left me with even more questions 😹 Dashing Youth’s Jin Wei is wearing the Blood of Youth’s Jin Yu’s clothes, and Jin Yu has a cool new outfit (and he’s played by an entirely different person than was listed on the cast list—what happened there?)

It’s interesting to see that Jin Xuan and Jin Yan swapped clothes between the shows, rather than Jin Yan merely stealing Jin Xuan’s.

Yes, many questions, but I’m definitely happy to see the five of them together again! 🍠 Here’s to hoping the Dark River show will give some hints or answers to the mystery of the Five Eunuchs’ switched clothing!

Zhuo Qing in Tales of Dark River?

Take this with a grain of salt, as this news is mainly based on a translation of what seems to be a summary of actor Yan Su’s livestream. Still, it looks like he’ll be reprising his role as Zhuo Qing in the Dark River show! His performance in Dashing Youth has been excellent, and he clearly put a lot of work and consideration into it. The thought of seeing Yan Su continue Zhuo Qing’s story in the live action Tales of Dark River is quite exciting! 💜
