Draped across the others back, chin propped on shoulder. Without much thought their fingers braid stray wisps of hair ( comfortable ). Quiet as Merlin reads.

His gaze did not stray up from his novel, though a hand did so flee from its back cover, fingers brushing against one of Enkidu’s hands in affectionate acknowledgment. It was not often that Merlin received such affection, if at all, though it was with great enthusiasm he accepted such. Perhaps a part of him was not yet accustomed to friendship, yet he found himself easing into old and new routines easily. Merlin was even kind enough to incline his head to make the whole braiding process easier, humming beneath his breath pleasantly. His eyes tracing the curvature of the letters was only a hollow action, barely registered and more focused on Enkidu’s presence.

Hands over some red and white flowers he had chosen out. ❝ I have heard you enjoyed such a thing... I do like to make bouquets on occasion. ❞

They could not say they knew much of Karna.  Only bits and pieces  (  the basics  )  seen from a distance.  None of that led Enkidu to believe they would receive such a gift when they had done nothing in return.  Was that not what a gift was  ??  a token for someone you hold dear, a return memory for one previously given.  Perhaps they still had much to learn.

Partial smile growing as the corners of their mouth turn up  —  slender fingers gathering the flowers with a care not often shown.  Taking a moment to appreciate their beauty  (  for that's what they were, beautiful.  a gift  ).  Very pleased, if not confused.  They were not quite worth the effort made.  Though, they were not completely unknowing.  Such a token was given with thought and purpose; they would not turn it away.

Eyes leaving the flowers to meet the others gaze, head falling slightly as they granted a warm smile.  ❝  Thank you…  though you need not have gone to the effort.  They are as vibrant as my sincere gratitude.  You have a talent for color.  ❞
