Dont Get Me Wrong, I Absolutely Love The Possibility Of A Something There Comparison To Summer Nights

don’t get me wrong, i absolutely love the possibility of a something there comparison to summer nights from grease. but i also love the idea of making it sorta like everyday from hsm2.

picture this: an open stage. seb on the piano. gina gets pushed to center stage similarly to kourtney in 1x08 and is asked to sing a song from the show in order to test the microphone system/for another reason because maybe ash and ricky are busy brainstorming ideas. she sings the first verse of something there.

suddenly, she hears another voice singing the beast's part. ej walks onto the stage from the other side, microphone in hand. he goes to gina and they stand inches apart. they stare into each others eyes, ej takes her hand, and as gina begins to sing new, and a bit alarming... the lights go down and they are the only people visible. like during nini's audition in 1x01 or lily's solo during belle in 2x02, the camera spins around showing them from all different angles.

suddenly the lights turn back on and everyone on the stage is in absolute shock, their mouths open.

seize the day

one of my favorite things about portwell is the foreshadowing from the older episodes. i'm not sure if this makes any sense and it is a bit of a stretch but i've been thinking about the connection between the situation in 2x10 and the career day speech in 2x08.

this could all be a total coincidence but in 2x08, "seize the day" is mentioned twice:

1. when ej and gina were being adorable, he mentioned that during career day, the speakers usually tell them to seize the day, and then let it go and asked her what she thought it meant

2. after giving his son the duke sweatshirt and announcing that he got in, ej's father asked the class if they knew the meaning of the phrase seize the day

in 2x10, both ej and gina were nervous about falling in love because of past heartbreaks/misinterpretations, ej with nini and gina with ricky. despite his fears however, ej got the courage to ask her out.

another way to look at it would be like seizing the day. he realized that maybe it's time to take control and look past rejection. to make the most of it. similarly to what carlos said, whatever happened with a girl in the past doesn't mean that the future should be defined by it.

hsmtmts 2x10 reaction

omfg. wow. i need a moment.

first of all, seb doing the recap was so adorable, but i'm still kinda hoping that we get a gina one before the end of the season.

ej saying that his house is bigger then ash's and gina giving him a sweet but scolding smile :D

when i tell you that i screamed when most of the others knew about portwell, i'm not exaggerating. it just goes to show that their heart eyes and fonding could not be hidden by any means. i love how both of them were scared to put themselves out there for fear of rejection but ultimately ej asked her out and i love that.

side note: ash's support and gina's adorable little walk + their faces before and after he asked her out on a REAL risotto date night.

i kinda wished that there was some more closure between ricky/nini/gina not only about the chocolates but more about their feelings. i like how ej saying that the best thing he did for nini was letting her go led ricky to sorta think about his song from 2x09 and ponder his relationship with nini. ricky acknowledging that he's not always done the best things is *chefs kiss*

seblos: i knew they wouldn't last through the entire episode without making up. ricky helping carlos with the song was so nice, and in a heartbeat is super cute. i love this ship to pieces.

when i think of you, i see the guy who bought me a plane ticket back to east high so i could be a part of the show. a guy whose birthday video for carlos made everybody cry

i see someone who tries really hard to do the right thing

well, you're glowing. remind me to hire you to throw me a birthday party.

honestly OBSESSED with the fact that matt and sofia have the ability to act out such intense and striking emotions so perfectly. they literally speak with their faces and their eyes. every single smile, every single laugh, is so genuine and means something beyond what words can say.

ex. 1: when ej does a sweet gesture for gina, sofia knits her brows and acts surprised in the most adorable way.

that alone shows that ej goes above and beyond her expectations and what any guy has done for her before. something so simple has such a strong meaning.

ex. 2: their eyes light up during a close moment.

like during the couch scene or career day in 2x08, matt and sofia's eyes just totally light up. i'm honestly not sure how they do it, but it really shows how happy and comfortable gina and ej are with each other. they give one another compliments and make each other feel safe.

ex. 3: their reactions to the date

wether it's sofia's little walk afterwards or matt's nervous face when ej asks gina out, both portray something so authentic and so real. it fits perfectly with their characters' fear of rejection and putting themselves out there.

ex. 4: leaning in

the way matt puts his arm around sofia and she naturally leans into his touch, like at north high in 2x07 or the shoulder tap at the pizza place in 2x10, is the perfect depiction of 2 people with a friendship rooted in trust. ej and gina both comfort each other and are a safe space from the world beyond.
