Ok so I know a lot of people are upset with the kiss between Portwell being a cliffhanger. Honestly, I was too! But the more I think about it, the more I think it was a really smart move.
Think about it. If they HAD kissed then the anti Portwells would be attacking the show about how they made a 22 year old kiss an at the time 16 year old. We'd NEVER hear the end of it. By the time the third season comes out Sofia will be a legal adult. And sure there will still be complaints about the age difference, but Sofia will be an adult so it won't matter.
Plus the ending, though INCREDIBLY ADORABLE, was a little rushed. Next season I'd like to see something interrupt them before they could kiss and the first few episodes just be about them trying to get that kiss and continously being interrupted. You know, like those "five times they tried to kiss, and one time they actually did" kind of stories. That way when they do finally kiss it'll be 100x better.
Overall though I'm satisfied because PORTWELL NATION WON!!!
And there wasn't a hint of Rina anywhere ðŸ¤

so i decided to make some ej + gina wallpapers since they are my all time favorite comfort ship and i couldn't find any. can't wait for 2x09 tomorrow/later today in the est time zone and let's hope portwell serves :D

honestly OBSESSED with the fact that matt and sofia have the ability to act out such intense and striking emotions so perfectly. they literally speak with their faces and their eyes. every single smile, every single laugh, is so genuine and means something beyond what words can say.
ex. 1: when ej does a sweet gesture for gina, sofia knits her brows and acts surprised in the most adorable way.
that alone shows that ej goes above and beyond her expectations and what any guy has done for her before. something so simple has such a strong meaning.
ex. 2: their eyes light up during a close moment.
like during the couch scene or career day in 2x08, matt and sofia's eyes just totally light up. i'm honestly not sure how they do it, but it really shows how happy and comfortable gina and ej are with each other. they give one another compliments and make each other feel safe.
ex. 3: their reactions to the date
wether it's sofia's little walk afterwards or matt's nervous face when ej asks gina out, both portray something so authentic and so real. it fits perfectly with their characters' fear of rejection and putting themselves out there.
ex. 4: leaning in
the way matt puts his arm around sofia and she naturally leans into his touch, like at north high in 2x07 or the shoulder tap at the pizza place in 2x10, is the perfect depiction of 2 people with a friendship rooted in trust. ej and gina both comfort each other and are a safe space from the world beyond.
behind every perfect ship are the perfect actors :D

one of my favorite things is how fondly and vulnerably the cast talks about the show.
like in matt's live stream, he fully expressed how much he loves portwell and their development from season 1. it makes me so happy that he also realizes their potential, likes the couch scene, and cares about the characters as much as the fandom.
i have high hopes for tomorrow knowing that he likes them together.
+ the way he described the fake dating scene with sofia at north high was the BEST thing.

matt ej x gina interview
since i've been in a slump after the finale, here are some of the best things from matt's new interview on portwell :D
- i'm seriously hoping that in order to build suspense, there is a flashback of the 2x12 kiss in 3x01.
- i totally agree that ej and gina have pretty similar character arcs in that they both were seen as the "villains" in season 1 and changed in season 2. they show each other that it's ok to not have everything figured out, and have finally found the person that treats them right. when they were apart, it felt as though their whole world was crumbling and falling.
- part of what makes portwell so amazing is not only the acting, but also matt and sofia's real friendship. they're so comfortable with each other and that transitions onto their characters. i love that they were thinking about eating risotto since it was mentioned in the show and neither one of them knew what is was. as for their on screen date, i really hope that maybe they can somehow show it in season 3 since ej and gina know of each other's feelings and it'll make the entire thing so much better.
- second chance is such a powerful song because as much as it is about relationships like portwell, every single character mentions their own pains and how they feel individually. nini wants to explore new things, gina contemplates wether or not she is safer on the run, ej thinks he misread the signs and ricky begins again. they throwback to season 1 really made me personally think about how far they've come.
- i really hope that in season 3 ej thinks more about the what the future holds for him and what he wants to do in college. having a summer season would be perfect to show more of his development and maturity when it comes to what's next for him.
matt doing these interviews is like the only thing giving me hope for season 3 and keeping me going and i love them so yay :D i'm so excited that he loves ej and gina so much.
