You had all been at Rami’s for a few hours, and it was getting late, but it didn’t bother any of you. Well, it didn’t bother any of you except Gwilym. He had left half an hour ago, rambling about having a functional sleep schedule, leaving the rest of you sitting on the floor of Rami’s room. You sat with your head on Joe’s shoulder, making Joe’s heart soar at the fact that you were finally his and everyone knew it.

It was when Joe began to tell Rami about what had happened between the two of you that made Ben stand up, giving a quick excuse as to why he had to leave.

“Aw, Ben, come on, it’s only like, midnight.” Joe pleaded.

He looked at you. “Yeah I know. I’m just gonna go.”

He said a few short goodbyes and walked out, leaving the room filled with confused silence.

After hearing the sound of the front door opening then closing, Joe turned to the three of you.“Why’s he being so weird?” The question was enough to make your heart start racing. They had noticed?

“Oh my God, I thought I was crazy! I noticed that too!” Lucy exclaimed.

“Yeah, it’s like he’s mad or something.” Joe added.

 “No, no, no,” Ben pointed a finger at you as you smirked at him over your wine glass.  “That’s not how it happened!”

“Oh, so it was my fault?”

“If I recall, it was your idea to jump in the pool.”  

You giggled as you poured yourself some more wine and topped off Ben’s glass.  “Okay, maybe it was.”  You realized that the bottle was empty now.  The treacle tart long finished, but the two of you had been finishing the wine.  

“That was a fun night,” Ben sighed as the waiter came to the table.  

“Another bottle?”

“Oh no, we should really get home,” you responded.  “I would hate for Eliza to wake up and us not be there.”  

“I’ll be back with the check,” the waiter nodded and disappeared again.  

“I’ve got more wine at home anyway,” Ben had leaned forward and whispered to you.  

You beamed at him and covered your mouth to laugh.  

Ben took your hand away from your mouth and shook his head.  

“I’ve missed hearing that, please don’t stifle it.”  

You bit your lip and looked at Ben through your lashes.  You heard him suck in a breath for a second before the waiter came back.  Ben reached for his wallet and you realized that he had to pull his hand away from yours to do so.  Why did you miss it so much already?  

“Oh no,” your brain finally catching up to what was happening.  “Ben, let me…”

Ben held up a hand at you.

“This was my idea, maybe you can get the next one,” Ben lifted one corner of his mouth.  

You swallowed.  

“Yeah, m…maybe.”  

Ben pulled his credit card out and handed it to the waiter before turning back to you.  The two of you were in a somewhat easy silence.  If you were still together, Ben would probably lean over the table and give you a kiss.  Or whisper something about what would happen when you got home making you glance around nervously, hoping nobody would hear.  

“We should probably order a car,” you kept your voice low, hoping not to break the peace that the two of you were in.  

“I’m sure we’ll get a cab,” Ben replied, matching your soft tone.  

You just hummed, in a slightly drunken haze.  

“Thank you, Mister and Missus Jones,” the waiter handed Ben his card back and you both thanked him.

Definitely! I personally prefer fluffy/angsty fics over smut, but I included a couple that I enjoyed as well.

Multi-Chapter Fics:

Virtues Uncounted by @a-night-at-the-0pera is without a doubt my favorite Joe fic ever! It takes place during the regency era and it’s amazing. It honestly feels like you are reading a book and it is such a slow-burn in the best way possible and the love triangle is so well done. Tori is such an amazing writer/person and all of her work is great. 

I’ll Never Love Again by @darlingyourebeingabore I became obsessed with this short but amazing story. You really don’t know what’s going to happen and it definitely kept me on the edge of my seat. I also recommend the other Joe stories by this author because they’re all really good.

Catching Up by @freddiesaysalright This series definitely gives me a lot of feels in a good way. It’s just super cute and a really nice/immersive fic

Stress Relief by @a-night-at-the-0pera is a really nice college AU with some smut. Again that’s not usually my thing but it is still super good and really sweet in some aspects. Again, just read anything that Tori writes! (Smut)

One-Shots:

Smile by @queen-irl-af is super fluffy and just really good! It also goes along with a song which adds another element to it which I love.

You Look So Perfect by @deakyfordays who is also an amazing author and you should read everything they have! This has smut, but in a really sweet, couple with a family way. It just gave me the warm and fuzzies while also reading about a good time. (Smut)

Headcanons:

Borhap Boys as Dads by @rogersradio I am such a sucker for dad Joe and these headcanons hit me right in the feels. It also includes the other Borhap boys which are super sweet.

Joe Mazzello Being Your Dumb Boyfriend h/cs by @joemazzhello I adore Izzy with all of my heart and she is such a great person. I recommend all of her headcanons and fics, especially because she is the queen of dad joe. However, these headcanons are definitely my favorite and make me feel all sorts of things.

There are so many more that I have read and can’t seem to locate, but I hope this list helps! All of these writers are great and deserve more recognition. Now I definitely want to reread all of these, so thank you so much for asking!
