Christmas Chaos Warshrine Present

As he is a D&D dungeon master I decided to paint him a big monster for his campaigns so his battles would have a bigger impact. I placed magnets in the shrine so the priest can be removed and placed on a different base so different models can be placed on the shrine or you could have an encounter with just the priest.

I painted it with a purple and blue colour scheme as I wanted the shrine to have a garish look and complement the bright gold trim. I also painted the trolls underneath a cool grey so the would blend into the base as if they where no there (like they are unwanted), this really contrasts with the garish shrine sitting on top of them.

For the trim I found out this new way to shade and highlight it My previous method was: Retribution armour - Seraphim sepia - Gehenna’s gold - Liberator gold However the shade was never dark enough so the highlights never came through, so I came up with this new method which makes really deep shades and a really realistic look. Base: Retributor armour Highlight 1: Liberator gold Highlight 2: Runefang Steel Shade: really watered down Screaming bell For the shade you have to be very careful and treat it like a layer so you cant wash it all over the miniature but rather selectively paint the areas you want to be shaded.

For my present I got a bunch of paints :).

It’s been a while since I last posted on here as I’ve had to do so much to prepare for uni and I wanted to spend a peaceful time with my family at Christmas.

Inktober: Day 5 Wizards Dog

Inktober: Day 5 “Wizards Dog”

I’m really enjoying drawing these wizard familiars so I deiced to do a dog this time. For the dog I made it out like he had nabbed his masters hat so it’s too big for him to wear properly.

I’m practising a variety of technics this year to see what sticks. Today I decided to try out some spot colouring. I like the effect on the hat however I’m not so sure on the bandanna.

I’ve still got a lot of ideas for familiars in my head so expect some more.

Inktober: Day 17 - 18 - 19 Compilation

Now for my next set of 3 late inktober drawings.

(17) “Mages Phoenix”

(18) “Flying Kittens Potion”

(19) “Flying Pumpkin”

With my phoenix I wanted to try out one of my previous styles that I used but this time combine it with vibrant watercolour to try and create a wild strong style so it would look like the flames where flaring off the phoenixes wings. Not sure whether it worked too well.

With my kittens I wanted them to look fluffy bit this time I used a different style that uses sharper edges for the fur. I also used all of my grey shades on this drawing to see how they all contrasted each other on the page. Personally I think less is more in this case and I should limit my colour palette for greys.

As it was getting so close to Halloween It was on my mind, so I decided to do a little drawing of a cat flying in a pumpkin. I also used a different style again this time I used a line shading for the pumpkin and a white line inbetween the black fire and pumpkin to create a bolder outlines.

(23) “Sleeping Book Dragon”

(24) “Clean Dragon”

(25) “Trick Or Treat”

For my sleeping dragon I only recently looked up how to blend with promarkers that I have had for years, it was much easier than I first thought. I think the blending looks really good on his hide as I had so many variations of red in my box however I don’t know whether blending with other colours will be as successful.

For my clean dragon I wanted to use the new winsor and newton pigment markers that I recently got. On normal paper the markers barely blend so I layered these up however I was hampered because of the lack of verity of colours so I did have to compromise on quite a few things like the colour of the toothpaste.

I wanted to draw another pumpkin cat as my last one I thought was some of my best work. This time I wanted to draw the night sky behind and try and make a more sinister look about him so I did some spot colouring. I still want to try out a few more positions with this character so I may go back to them.

Inktober: Day 6 Witches Cats

Inktober: Day 6 “Witches Cats”

I really enjoyed drawing the cats for inktober but when I thought of this drawing I just had to draw it.

I use some grayscale shading and drawing, still not sure what to use to shade but so far I’m enjoying this style quite a lot so far.

The white cat is a white mages cat so I made her white and wear a white hat instead of black which makes it harder to shade as black shading makes it look way to stark.
