I don’t think there’s enough conversation about Five’s PTSD.

Like, he has just as much as his siblings do, but his is hidden better or subtle enough that you don’t notice it.

He talks to Dolores as a coping mechanism for the severe isolation and depression he suffered in the apocalypse.

He’s incredibly paranoid which is really just a form of anxiety.

He never changes his clothes or sleeps; he only wears pajamas once and other than that he just never takes care of himself; he only ever drinks coffee and never eats.

He doesn’t know how to show affection for his family the same way they all show it to each other because he sees them as his family but he still feels disconnected from them on a certain level and it’s more like “let me save this group of people” versus “let me save this group of people i’m a part of”.

He has serious trust issues and can barely trust his own family because he’s spent so long alone.

And I just think this fandom forgets about his pain sometimes because Diego and Klaus and Vanya’s is so prominent and Allison and Luther have relationships that help them deal with it and Ben is a ghost so he's largely ignored (plus he's somehow well-adjusted, which, like, how???) whereas Diego is closed off and Klaus covers up his pain with humor and substances and Vanya scares people, but like at least theirs is there in the fandom.

And yet we just keep forgetting about Five’s struggles because he’s so intelligent and brave and detached and sometimes I forget too.

But then I see this scene, and i realize that he’s screaming in fear and is nearly on the verge of tears and he’s just this young child no matter old he thinks he is. He’s this kid nearly having a panic attack alone under a kitchen table in a house that isn’t his while thousands of bullets try to kill him and he’s terrified.

And I just.

I fall in love with him all over again.

And I want to protect him the way he’s always protecting other people, because I’m not sure anyone’s ever pushed past his constant “I’m fine”’s to make sure he actually is.
