Spring wip

I love drawing shu in this palette 🥹 im back to giving up on lineart and doing it all in one layer and so far it's going well!

Uni load has been lighter but it's the commissions and other art projects I've joined that takes all my time, but I'm enjoying every step nonetheless

this went through 3 different stages while I was drawing it. I loveee drawing Shu but I guess I take really long to draw him

the first two drafts were somewhat heavily influenced by sadder emotions but I scrapped that idea after a while

Also this is how I've been this entire winter and I still refuse to buy a heater 😅

Compilation of things I've worked on but couldn't finish! And some rambles

1. Mysta Illust because I thought the cat ear beanie would suit him well, but after a while of experimenting with lighting, I ended up scrapping it - used a new brush pen for lineart

2. Shubert sketch - i might actually continue it, maybe, but it was me roughly testing out a new sketch pen

3. Luxiem anniv - my laptop crashed and I lost the file and it was a day before their anniv so I ended up not finishing it, it was an absolute challenge to draw 5 people with complex outfits

4. Sibyl Luca - my usual rebellion against lineart, it was supposed to be luca infront of a cracked mirror with blood stains,, but it got too complex and the painting wasnt going well

Sketch v. Final

I actually had to redraw the face a tiny bit and adjust the overall proportion of everything but I really like how it turned out! shading wise I would usually do it per layer (clothes, hair, etc.) but I was watching a youtube vid where they just used one multiply layer and clipped it to their base color folder and it sped up my process so much anyways, hope our mafia boss is having a nice break! (gives me time to catch up on vods)

Gonna post it here before posting it on twitter during the actual anniversary but happy 1 year luxiem! illust based on the anniversary outfit/illust that came out a couple days ago

Process for the Mysta Shu Illustration c:

because for once I actually decided to screenshot the steps because IT TOOK SO LONG - I drew this somewhere before Thanksgiving break and stressful uni weeks and transferring between two Laptops to work on it on two places -

The original plan (left) was something similar to fanart I saw of like school AU of Luxiem but a part of me wanted to try """"dynamic""' (at least that's what I convinced myself lol) poses and the trend with fisheye lens led to the revision (right)

I cleaned it up and struggled with lineart and was going back and forth with it for days ;-;;;

until I decided to just scrap that and do it as a digital painting of sorts

then background and some lighting annndd done <3

until I had to fight every cell in my body to keep Shu's hair like how it's designed rather than my short hair preference :>
