sorry if i spam your blog with likes, i engage with content about folk music and folk revival as if i am a starving animal ^_^ yay! phil ochs!
i like doing song of the day but i also want to do spotlights on specific albums and artists and stuff i just don't know how frequently i should post it. i was thinking maybe "album of the week " but idk how often i should do a spotlight on a specific artist. idk what do u folks think
pete seeger is so misunderstood that it makes me go feral and run around my room like a wild badger, clawing at my curtains and all that.

People think he wasn't as radical as woody guthrie because he sang children's songs and spoke of love. wrong! He was blacklisted! he was called an enemy of America! he dedicated his whole life to helping make better the country that abused him, who abused him and his friends and comrades. he worked tirelessly for decades to preserve the legacy of people like woody guthrie and lead belly and all the other folks. Do you even have the slightest idea of the black hole of information that would have happened without Pete Seeger? Can you comprehend what a world without Woody's music would feel like to live in? God bless Pete Seeger.
im also specifically looking for indigenous country and folk songs or artists mentioned that aren't Buffy saint-marie or Peter la farge (who were not indigenous and lied about being indigenous) because it upsets me that these 2 people seem to take up all the conversation about indigenous folk music in america in the 50s-70s
im on a mission to find any or all songs/articles whatever published in Broadside magazine and Sing out! (between the 60s to 90s) that are about gay or queer topics. i mean. surely there have to be some. so far i am unsuccessful but I'm downloading every pdf of sing out! available to me, today. so that's a fun project.
