So. This Scene Is Cute, But It's Weird That Hotch Didn't Assign Reid The Journals In The First Place.

In an industrial building is Derek Morgan, a man with a shaved head wearing a blue t-shirt. Speaking, he gestures to Emily Prentiss on his right, a dark-haired woman wearing a red shirt. She opens her hands in front of herself before bringing them back together. In front of them with his back to the camera is Spencer Reid, a brunette man in a white button-up. Once he's done speaking, Morgan tilts his head expectantly. White subtitles read: "Well, you know, the two of us, it would take us like three days to read all of this stuff."
Reid pauses, then scrunches his mouth to the side, eyes darting. After a moment, he speaks. Yellow subtitles read: "You guys owe me."

so. this scene is cute, but it's weird that hotch didn't assign reid the journals in the first place. there's potentially a woman still alive somewhere and there are potentially clues to where she is in the journals. even though the unsub is dead, speed is still very important. they have no idea if she's somewhere inherently dangerous, if exposure is a risk, if she has access to food and water (which she probably doesn't), etc. so obviously i had to make it make sense in my head or i'll explode.

they're reading the journals of a man who's been abducting and killing women unnoticed for ten years. who knows the kinds of things he's written in there. yes, reid is the best person practically to read the journals because he can get through them the fastest, but he's alsothe worst person emotionally because he'll remember every (possibly depraved) word for the rest of his life (ignoring the fact that that's very much not how eidetic memories work irl. you can accuse cm of being a lot of things but true to life is not one of them <3).

(that's obviously not to say that it wouldn't affect any other member of the team. but there's a difference between "this is going to haunt me" and "I Physically Can't Forget This")

i don't think this is a conscious decision on hotch's part—again, there's very much a time crunch, and if he did think about it consciously, i think he would value potentially saving a woman's life over potentially making reid remember fucked up stuff forever. that's not to knock hotch—imo that's the correct if unpleasant decision and hotch is very good at making those even if he hates himself for making them every time. but maybe subconsciously this is why he tried to keep reid away from the journals.

(sidenote: i know this is not the intent. i just like to overthink shit that doesn't matter <3)

i love the olympics. no need to get too invested in any one event or sport. i learn just enough about each to go "oooh!" when it looks like it goes good or "ooooh..." when it looks like it goes bad. i graze on them all at my leisure. it's like sports tapas.

the 3x2 au i said i was writing here is coming along angstily :) oh the irony

Spencer was starting to wonder if he’d tripped and fallen into a parallel universe, as unlikely as that was. Or, more likely, he was still asleep and dreaming. Except like most people, he couldn’t read in dreams, which meant this was reality. A very weird reality, where Strauss was on the case with them because Hotch had requested a transfer, and Emily was quitting the FBI entirely just as he was starting to get along with her again and Gideon was…somewhere.

He hoped he was okay, feared he wasn’t. Less than 40% of people hospitalized for strokes were younger than sixty-five, but fifty-two wasn’t impossible, and one of the most common cause of strokes was hypertension which could be caused by stress, and Gideon had certainly been stressed, and, and, and…

And Gideon knew how much it had hurt him when his father had left with a goodbye and a letter. He would never leave Spencer with nothing unless something was very, very wrong.

The beautiful people you see in the photos (faces blurred for their privacy) are our aunts, uncles, cousins, and grandfather. They've all been displaced from their homes in Khartoum over a year ago. They're now all living in a makeshift home in the desert, waiting for the day to return home.

My cousins haven't been to class in a year. My uncles have lost their jobs. All their belongings were stolen. They live in a home with no windows or air conditioning in a climate that can reach 50 ℃ (122F).

(where they store all their belongings)

Your funds will go to:

- Getting them passports

- Getting them visas to Egypt/KSA

- Travel funds

- Supporting them with food, water, transport, medicine, and any other needs while we get their travel plans sorted

If you can spare even £1 that would be massive help. If not, sharing is just as helpful <3

To any Europeans reading, please consider sharing this fundraiser with your friends and family.

It's for @bilal-salah0, a 22 year old Palestinian refugee who, while trying to raise funds for his family in Gaza, is facing the possibility of an imminent deportation from Germany. It might happen as early as next week, which is why his fundraiser is so urgent.

I of course encourage everyone who can to share and donate, but I especially think us Europeans, with the current and terrifying uptick in anti-immigration rhetoric and violence, have an extra responsibility of helping Bilal.

For more information on Bilal's current situation, please read this post from one of his friends.
