The two of you are situated under an old willow tree, one that leans and groans under the weight of time. He often brought you here when he wanted to escape the chaos of being a captain and if he would a fleeting moment of peace he’d grab your hand and urge you to come with him. 

The knitted material of the blanket on the grass provides some cushioning as the tow of you lay across from each other, his one arm tucked under his head while his other hand brushed across your cheek. They’re far softer than his palms, roughened fingertips from the years of battle becoming a contrast against your skin. There’s a breeze, ghostly cool breaths that filters through the branches above you, now and then ruffling some of the raven strands of hair, prompting you to brush them away from Levi’s eyes. 

There’s peace wound into the quietness between you two. His eyes dance across your face, mapping your features like this would be the last chance he gets to do so. You’ve never seen his gaze so soft, so vulnerable. Levi was a man sculpted form steel and blood, under harsh conditions which turned him into the man he was today. Yet, whenever he was with you he turned into something else, far more tender and heartfelt than how some have come to know him. 

“You’re ethereal,” he breathes, shifting closer as the grass crunches lightly under his weight. He’s closer now, much more than he was before and the two of you share warm breaths. His fingers brush across the apple of your cheeks, ensuring no strands of hair would pester you or obstruct his view of your face. “So beautiful...” 

He sounds as if he’s caught in some sort of hazy trance and soon enough he’s pulled you in with him. Your eyes follow his own, copying the motions as you take in the strong curve of his jawline, the shape of his nose, the slight glimmer there is behind the silver of his eyes, features you’ve grown to love. 

Soon enough the hand that once caressed your cheek slips to the back of your head, gently urging you closer until your foreheads were pressed together. Something flutters to life in your chest, a swarm of butterflies that brush their wings against your ribs, awakening flutters of nervousness. Even though the two of you were together for what felt like years but turned out to only be a few months now, you still hadn’t shared a kiss  with him yet. You were apprehensive, scared that because of your lack of experience that you might mess something up, accidently bite his tongue or some other mishap that would scare him away. 

“Shh, I know,” he soothes when you let out a small noise of acknowledgement, a thumb brushing at the back of your head, moving across the strands, silently coaxing you to relax against him. Your hands had splayed themselves across his chest, twitching against the grey material of his shirt. You two share several inhales and exhales before he comments, “You’re trembling, my love.” 

“I’m scared,” you admit with a thick throat. "I don't know how to—"

He cuts you off, "I'll guide you."

For several moments neither of you two dare to move. Your eyes had fluttered closed long ago, focusing on each warm breath that falls across your face, a contrast to the wind that twirls between the leaves above you.

Then you feel him shift forward, tilting his head just the slightest to give him a better angle. His lips are slightly chapped when they brush across yours, the warmth of his palm now fully encasing your cheek. He pauses for a moment or two before his lips press against yours, stilling the slight wobble there is to them. He's so close that you can practically feel his heartbeat beneath your fingertips, just as erratic as yours.

At first you don't know what to do, lost as he suck softly on your bottom lip before he lets out a soft hum. "Move yours with mine," he urges gently, mumbling between your mouths. He slows, realizing he's become fat too eager to devour you, letting you come to your senses.

You hesitate, pouting your lips slightly before they encase with his, your movements slow and tentative. But soon enough as he reciprocates your actions do you grow more confident, moving your lips against his just a little more eagerly. You're holding your breath and your lungs burn but nothing beats the sensation of feeling him so close to you, inhaling sharply through his nose with each languid pull and push of your mouths.

Eventually the both of you need to pull apart to catch your breaths, a soft groan elicting from Levi's mouth where your taste lingers. He licks his lips, rolling until he was hovering on top of you, hands splayed on either side of your head as he keeps himself hoisted up.

"You taste like heaven."

This has been shared before but it is well known that manga authors have brutal schedules they have to work under. So many have died before old age due to health issues.

To quote Junji Ito:

“Sleep is very important. Everyone get enough sleep. Many manga artists die young and it’s because they don’t sleep. Your best ideas will come to you when you’re sleeping. Please everyone get some sleep.”

Remember Manga authors are human beings that deserve better work conditions in their industry.

RIP Master Miura.
