Paring: Shuri x Black Fem!Reader

Warnings: 18+ content, dirty talk, praise kink, vibranium strap, lesbian sex

Word count: 2.1k

Translations: Yeyona shit yesondo kakhulu endakha ndayifumana = That’s the sexiest shit I have ever seen, Hayi = No, Sithandwa = My love, Ndiyakudinga = I need you, Ukuya esihogweni kunye nehempe emhlophe = To hell with that short white man, Ewe, sithandwa sam. Ndiyazi = Yes, my love. I know, Molo kwintombazana yam entle = Hello to my beautiful girlfriend

Your calmness slipped with each passing hour. Your girlfriend, Shuri, was supposed to be back from America hours ago. This was nothing new to you. Shuri traveled quite often, especially now that she was Black Panther, but she had been gone for 20 days, 11 hours, and 36 minutes.

You missed her terribly.

And you ached for her deep inside.

You both agreed not to pleasure yourselves until she returned. You were doing well until around day 10 when you discovered new footage of Shuri in Massachusetts, leaping across a tall building in her panther suit alongside Riri as they both took down a rogue CIA member.

Her swift, confident glides made you proud of her, but also frisky. You two have always had great sex, but since she took the heart-shaped herb, the sex shifted into something borderline astronomical.

You tapped a bead on your kimoyo bracelet, admiring your half naked figure in the full-length mirror beside your bed as you waited for Shuri to answer.

“Molo kwintombazana yam entle.” Shuri answered on the third ring.

“Where are you?” You blurted, unwilling to let her cuteness distract you.

“I am about thirty minutes out from the river border.”

“Thirty minutes?! Shuri, you were supposed to be here two hours ago.”

“Ewe, sithandwa sam. Ndiyazi,” Shuri sighed, “I got caught up in a conversation with Agent Ross and lost track of time.”

“Ukuya esihogweni kunye nehempe emhlophe!” You rolled your eyes, flopping dramatically onto the bed.

“Bast, (Y/N)!” Shuri admonished as she failed to contain her snickers.

“Oh, you think it’s funny?”

“Yes, you do get more agitated than usual when I am away for more than a week.”

“Ndiyakudinga.” You whined.

“I need you, too. I apologize for being late. I will make it up to you.”

“How?”

“With Riri’s help I was able to get the apparatus to 91% function. Figured we could test it when I arrive?”

You sat up instantly on the bed, beyond impressed. You two had been throwing around ideas for improving the vibranium strap's versatility for a while now.

“Wow, 91%! So, that means there’s a good chance that—“

“—That you will feel what I feel and I will feel what you feel.”

“Shit.” You cursed, moaning lightly as you rubbed yourself through your yellow lace panties.

“Mhm.”

“Bast, I don’t know which position we should try first.” You breathed, sliding your panties to the side for direct access.

“Well, hands and knees do seem to be your personal favorite.” She added, chuckling lightly.

You spread your legs a little more before dipping a finger inside your slick hole. You could not wait any longer. Three weeks was your limit. You were a touch starved mess.

“Do not start without me, sithandwa.”

“What? I’m not.” You lied.

“I can hear your finger sliding in and out of you, Y/N.”

Damn, you forgot how much stronger her hearing was now. Oh, well.

“You hear how wet I am for you?”

“Yes, I hear it,” Shuri purred, rubbing at her thigh to distract from the pulsation under her  pants, “I cannot wait to taste it.”

The sultry inflection of her voice was enough to drive you to slide a second finger in, moaning louder this time. “I can’t wait to feel you inside me.”

Shuri gasped, “I know you did not just add another fing—“

“—Mmm, it feels so good.” You cut her off, whimpering as you felt the edge nearing.

“Take your fingers out, Y/N. Now.”

“Hayi.” You disobeyed.

“No?” The sheer shock in Shuri’s voice would have made you laugh if circumstances were different. She sounded scandalized.

“I’m about to come, Shuri.”

“Do you remember what happened the last time you were being a disobedient brat?”

You did remember which is why you angled your two fingers and thrusted them faster inside you. Shuri had you calling on every god in existence that night. The memory alone had you throbbing.

“You better answer me, Y/N.”

Your climax was approaching and little did Shuri know, she was talking you up and right through it.

“Y/N.” Shuri repeated, growling into her kimoyo beads and that sent you over the edge.

You came as hard and as loud as you wanted. Consequences be damned. You had been holding that in for three long ass weeks. The orgasm was nice, but without your girlfriend you were always left ravenous. Shuri was silent for a beat, listening to your ragged breaths and sinful moans. You shivered as you pulled your fingers out and brought them up to your mouth to lick them clean.

“Prepare to take every inch I give you.” Shuri hissed. You could hear her breaths become harsher. Oooh, she was mad. Good.

The last thing you heard was Shuri swearing and one of the Dora Milaje responding to Shuri's question about their whereabouts.

“We will be home in seven mi—“

The combination of the abrupt silence and your girlfriend's last words sent a sweet chill down your spine. The thought of your impending punishment made you wetter. Even though, the icy tone of Shuri's warning had you swallowing the nervous lump in your throat. You knew she meant business.

You sobbed a moan while hot tears started to pool in your eyes as you were denied yet another orgasm. Shuri pulled out of you just as you were about to come. She left you lying there on your back as she moved to sit on the edge of the bed.

She looked back at you, enjoying the drenched, sensitive mess spread out before her. Looking into her eyes, you could not suppress the ache and frustration you felt. For the fourth time, she has pushed you to the precipice, only to yank you back at the last second. You were going to wither away if you didn’t come soon.

“Don’t look at me like that. You brought this on yourself.” She shrugged, looking down at the strap attached to her. She stroked it loosely as it was slick with your wetness.

“Please let me come.” You begged as you sat up on your knees.

“Come to me.” Shuri called over her shoulder.

You crawled to the edge of the bed, stopping beside her. She turned her face toward you, grinning as she saw the desperation in your eyes.

“Ride me until you come.” She gestured for you to straddle her lap and you obeyed, moving with an eager quickness.

You both moaned softly as you eased your pussy down the length of the strap. The model was only at 91% and it was revealing to you both various levels of pleasure you thought were impossible to achieve.

You began to bounce slowly, but quickly found your pacing, up and down, swirl and grind. You lowered your gaze to Shuri, silently pleading with her to touch you. With a playful glint in her eyes, she looked up at you.

“Baby, please touch me.” You huffed, bouncing harder.

Usually when you were riding your girlfriend she would grip your waist to help you move up and down, suck your nipples, or smack your ass. SOMETHING! She wasn’t doing anything. She was leaned back, both palms spread against the bed as she watched you fuck yourself onto her. It drove you crazy when she didn’t touch you and she fucking knew it.

“Obviously you no longer need my help to get you there.”

“But I do need you, baby. Please help me come.”

“Tough.” Shuri said, not moving an inch.

You pinched her shoulder in frustration and she just laughed at you, unfazed.

Fine. If she wanted to play like that then so be it.

You shoved two of your fingers in your mouth and sucked on them before bringing them to massage your clit. Your eyes fluttered closed as your threw your head back and moaned loudly.

“Fuck, Shuri. You feel so good inside of me.”

You knew she loved when you were vocal about how she made you feel during sex and would eventually touch you.

“No one could ever fuck me like you do,” you continued, “I love the way you fuck me.”

The cocky grin she was sporting faltered as she let out a deep moan, soon after she rolled her hips up to meet your vigorous bounces.

A climax tore through your stomach as soon as Shuri bent forward to capture your rigid nipple in her mouth, and you threw your head back and whimpered.

You were only given a few spare moments to catch your breath before Shuri picked you up and fucked you against the wall.

Sheer unadulterated euphoria flowed through you. You were so sex dazed that you couldn't recall how many times you came in the last thirty minutes, but Shuri was still not through with you. Sweat was the only barrier between the two of you. Your passion for her only deepened with each carnal kiss and perfectly calculated thrust.

You were now on your hands and knees, chestnut thighs shaking like a cheap, synthetic wig on a windy night. The noises of pleasure that escaped your lips were so loud and obscene you took it upon yourself to shove your face into an orange satin pillow. You knew your throat was going to be sore and your voice would be gone come tomorrow. Still, you didn’t care. Shuri was fucking you too damn good for you to be silent.

“Thank me while I fuck you.” Shuri grunted as her hand came down, smacking your plump ass, making the flesh jiggle from the ample force.

“Aaah! Th—thank you! Thank you!” You whimpered as you rocked back onto her.

With her free hand, Shuri gripped your throat and pulled you up, bringing your sweaty back to rest against her chest. She slowed her thrusts and ground into you slowly as she pecked delicate kisses across your cheek and down the neck to your shoulder.

“You always take me so well, Y/N.”

You could barely form a word so you just nodded. She knew all too well what her praises did to you.

“If only you listened as well as you took me.”

Shuri kissed your ear and nibbled on your earlobe before whispering, “Are you going to be good from now on and listen?”

“Yes.” You vowed, gasping as Shuri began to rub tight circles around your clit.

“Yes, what?” The deepness of her lust filled voice never failed to send you into a frenzy.

“Yes, Panther. I promise.” You groaned.

“That’s what I like to hear.” She panted.

“Shuri, please,” you pleaded as she rubbed your clit even faster, “I can’t come again.”

“Mmm, I think you can give me one more. Shall we try the highest pulsation?” Shuri pressed on the side of the strap twice, bringing it to level five. You cried out in pleasure, not only because the ability to feel what Shuri was feeling intensified, but also because she brushed against your g-spot over and over.

Shuri chuckled as she felt your walls clench around her, “Go on,” she encouraged as you squirmed, “Be a good girl and come one last time for me.” The vibrations from her next stroke shot throughout your entire body. Almost like receiving a slight magnetic jolt.

You let out an ear piercing scream that was definitely heard throughout the palace. You have never experienced an orgasm like this before. You came everywhere. All over your thighs, Shuri’s thighs and the bed. You made a mess. The intensity of your orgasm took Shuri by surprise as well, causing her rhythm to falter once she realized that you were squirting.

“Yeyona shit yesondo kakhulu endakha ndayifumana.” Shuri praised as she shoved you down into the mattress with one hand while the other tightened on your waist. Her euphonious moans grew louder as she drove into you wildly, chasing her own orgasm.

Shuri came with a cry, her thighs shook against the backs of yours. You were still trembling as your knees gave out and you sagged against the bed. She pulled out of you and flopped down next to you.

You both breathed shakily, warm bodies completely spent. You mustered all the strength you had left to turn onto your side so you could face her. Of course, she was already on her side, smirking at you.

“So,” Shuri cleared her throat as she scooched closer to you, resting her hand on your waist, “how are you feeling?” You wanted to roll your eyes at the smugness in her voice but that simple action required energy you didn’t have at the moment.

“If you’re ever walking outside and hear a rustling in the bushes, don't worry about it. It’s just me.” You enlightened her as your cunning amber eyes peered into her haughty walnut pupils.

Shuri’s eyes crinkled as she bit her bottom lip to stifle a laugh, shaking her head fondly at you. She thought she was used to your post sex outbursts by now, but every now and then you stumped her.

A Betting Woman

AN: Hey y’all! So I’m trynna do some palate cleansers while I work on BTB3 cause lord is that one just emotionally taxing to create lol. 80% of this fic is just Riri and Shuri talking about you and how they view you so there’s that. This was heavily inspired by the wonderful work of @generallysapphic who is thee supreme when it comes to Shuriri postings. There’s someone else who wrote a Shuriri fic but I can’t find them anymore. Just some cute shit to post fr. Set on a timeline where you went with Shuri to defeat Namor but Riri is a super genius.

Summary: Normally these types of moral dilemmas don’t bother Riri but after meeting your girlfriend, the queen of Wakanda. Riri decides to pay you a visit to end things.

Pairing: Shuri x Fem!Reader, Riri x Fem!Reader and the beginnings of Shuri x Riri.

Warnings: Cursing, mentions of D/S dynamic, kissing, i think thats it.

Translation: Sthandwa - my love , Entle - Beautiful & Usana - baby.

Word count: 2,864

Suggested listening: WILSHIRE - Tyler, The Creator.

“It’s morals I really have, it’s lines I could never cross But you got somethin’ that make All them good intentions get lost I try to keep it together, never felt this way”

Riri knocked quickly on the door three times, rocking on her heels as she did it.

“Busy right now!” Someone called from the other side of the door. The genius didn’t know if the voice was yours or not but she didn’t care.

‘Oh no, that bitch did not.’ Riri thought to herself. She brought her fist to the door and knocked harder this time. Everything was always on your schedule and Riri was going to be damned if her ending this fling was on your time too. She heard some rustling around and the bed creek before the door opened up enough to reveal a person on the other side.

The person Riri was expecting to see behind your dorm door was you, it was your room after all. Instead, she was met by the exact person she was here to talk to you about, Shuri. The taller woman stood in your doorway leaning up against the post. She was wearing a black sports bra and a matching pair of black sweats with golden embroidery on the side. The sweatpants hung low on her waist and Riri could make out the band of Shuri’s boxers. ‘She’s a Calvin Klein girl huh,’ The thought came to the mechanic quicker than she could stop it and she mentally cursed herself for getting so off track.

summary: in which namor’s strike against wakanda threatens to steal the last remaining peace of princess shuri’s heart ( or — in which queen ramonda isn’t the only causality of the water bombs tossed into the palace — and shuri’s not ready to let you go )

warnings; MAJOR ANGST , you drown trying to save the queen of your country. shuri prays to the ancestors to save you. you DIE. shuri goes the hell off, there’s some mention of suicidal thoughts & an attempt ( ryan coogler’s fault ) fluff at the end.

timeline ; takes place during WAKANDA FOREVER

pairing; warrior ! reader x princess shuri

inspired by; so i’m mourning my grandfather still, it’s something that weighs on me heavily especially this time of year. he died and none of us really knew what killed him. the day he passed away i felt like shit. i prayed for him to come back and he didn’t, and i grew angry with the God i believe in. i understood shuri’s feelings so vividly when watching the movie, because i had experienced them. my grandpa was like my dad, and i hated everyone because he was gone. LIFT ME UP by rihanna has stayed on repeat since it released and hopefully in the midst of this pretty sad peace, there can be some release for me. and anyone else dealing with grief they don’t get.

The tribal council room was not a place you found yourself in often. But today, you made an exception. Riri was at the foot of the throne, eyes glued to the Queen as Ayo kept watch. “What do you think of Wakanda?” Ramonda asks and your eyes flit to Riri to hear her answer. You didn’t know much about the scientist, Shuri had forbade you from joining the mission with her and Okoye. It wasn’t until Okoye returned without her that you understood why. A threat had been made on your country, a threat by a man of undeniable power and might.

“I thought an underwater city would take the cake, but the stories don’t do this place justice.” Riri responds as she looks around. You’re overflowing with pride at her answer, Wakanda would always be the most beautiful place to you. “It’s great, but I’d really like to go home.” Riri admits and you frown. You understood her plight, she’d been taken against her will, forced into the middle of a war all because she was too smart for her own good. “You’ll need to be patient, for your own safety.” Ayo forewarns. Queen Ramonda nods her head in agreement.

“We’ll take care of the trouble in Boston. You’ll be cleared of any involvement. When it is safe for you to return, your life will be waiting for you.” Ramonda explains. “Can I at least call my mom?” Riri pleads. “She is safe. At work. In Chicago.” Ramonda replies, and it’s clear she’s not changing her mind on the matter. “We have Wakandans keeping watch on her.” Ayo adds after a beat. “Why? She doesn’t know anything.” Riri grows defensive. “Yes, and we would like to keep it that way for now.” the Queen begins.

Riri doesn’t look impressed.

“I know you have been through a lot. Even before the abduction. We will make sure nothing happens to your mother, and you will be safe here.” she promises. Riri nods, but she looks unsure. Your standing on the opposite side of the room, taking in the scene, Riri looks like a fish out of water, and she seems to know that. She seeks solace with you, leaving the new General and the monarch behind. “So you’re her.” it’s the first words Riri’s spoken directly to you, and they force you to raise a sharp eyebrow. “Excuse me?” you say in surprise.

“Shuri’s old lady.” Riri elaborates, and that only fuels your confusion. “Old lady?” you repeat crossly, watching as Riri chuckles awkwardly. “It’s just a thing we say.” she explains. When she says ‘We’ you know she’s referring to the lost tribe. “You her girlfriend.” she corrects herself and you relax. “Yeah, that’s me.” you’re scrutinizing her closely, she had to be something special for Shuri to risk her life to save her. “And you’re her scientist.” you say and she bristles. “Nah, it ain’t like that. I ain’t one of those creepin’ broads.” she says and you smile.

“But you do like her, no?” you press and Riri’s entire demeanor changes, almost like she’s been caught red handed. “What?” she asks and you’re not quite understanding her sudden bashfulness. According to what the Queen had relayed to you regarding Riri, she was confident, suave. Not clumsy and clueless. “We don’t really know each other.” she says and you laugh good naturedly. “You don’t have to be so nervous. Shuri is very charming, I’d be more surprised if you weren’t into her.” you relax your shoulders a little.

“I ain’t trying to move in on your girl or nothing.” she explains and you wave her off. “I’m not worried.” and it’s true, you knew how much Shuri cared about you. It didn’t matter how fond of Riri she was, your position was secured in Shuri’s heart. And that was what mattered most. “You really tight with the Queen, huh?” she asks. “Naturally.” you mumble. “When my mother passed, I didn’t have many people to turn to. Queen Ramonda took me in, I will always be indebted to the Royal Family. She is like a second mother to me.” you look over again.

“And what does she think about you and Shuri?” Riri asks and you smile. “I think she’d been plotting on us from the day I stumbled into this place. She has expectations that I will be marrying her daughter one day.” you say with a laugh. “Of course, I won’t be marrying anyone until I’m well settled in my own life. Queen Mother will just have to wait a few years before she tries to throw us some dream wedding.” and Riri’s smile only grows. “She talked about you. When we were down there. Shuri, I mean.” Riri explains and you blink.

“Really?” your eyebrows shoot up and Riri thinks you look cute all confused. “She really cares about you.” Riri explains and your heart swells a little in your chest. “I’m lucky.” you admit. “I noticed your spear.” she points to the weapon. “Are you a Dora?” she asks and you resist the urge to curl your nose up. You motion to your head full of hair. “Do I look like a Dora?” you ask and Riri pokes her lips out. “You don’t want me to answer that.”  she tells you with a hearty laugh as you roll your eyes. “I am the Princess’ personal guard. She’s not into the whole Dora Milaje thing.” you explain as Riri nods slowly.

“But she’s into you so it works out great. You guard her heart and her body.” Riri elicits a loud cackle from you and it’s great, forgetting the bad stuff that had been in full effect for the last few days. “How long have you guys been a- been a thing?” she asks and while most people would find her line of questioning a little forward, you don’t mind. “Shuri’s been my girlfriend since we were kids.” you explain with a laugh. “We were primary school girlfriends.” you add as Ri smiles.

“We made things more serious when she turned sixteen, we’ve been together ever since.” Riri does the math in her head. Had ‘The Blip’ never happened, Shuri would’ve been 27, while you’d be 28, but because you’d lost five years you didn’t look it. You were only 23, while Shuri was 22. That was almost five years of your lives. “Oh, y’all in it foreal?” Riri asks and you smile fondly. “Yeah, I guess you can say that.” you agree as you nod. “That’s dope.” Riri mumbles.

You move to reply, but find your eyes back on the Queen. The river tribe Elder enters with Naval officers on his heels. “Shit.” you mutter under your breath, panic spreading through you like wildfire. “My Queen, we’ve lost contact with the river shield blockade.” the Elder explains and your panic is felt all the way in your bones.

Shit was about to go down.

“Lost contact?” Queen Ramonda repeats in disbelief. You nod for Riri to follow you, and like the strong and proud warrior you’d been trained to be, you stalk towards the mother of your nation, face devoid of all emotion. It was better that way. “Yes, and there are reports of flooding throughout the city.” the Elder explains. “A surprise attack?” you speak up, and Riri shakes her head. “That won’t no surprise. Shuri said something like this would happen.” she says and you curse again. “What do you suppose I do, IQhawe eliNcinci?“ you freeze.

Ramonda’s eyes are directed towards you. She’d been calling you IQhawe eliNcinci, her little hero since you were a small child. Your mother was the General that came before Okoye, you’d spent many days wreaking havoc around the palace as a young girl, pretending you were a Dora too, using sticks and other objects as a stand-in for the shield you one day wished to carry. Ramonda had always found you endearing, she’d always treated you special. But to ask you to decide the fate of what she did with her country? It was insane.

“Me?” you squawk and she nods her head, stone serious. “Yes.” she says and you think to yourself. You think like a warrior, like a Wakandan. Like a L/N. “We should evacuate.” you say suddenly. “Treat this like any other threat. Um- initiate every emergency response protocol.” you list and Ramonda is listening earnestly. “Um, Uh… the Dora. Send them out and have them aid the military in the ground fight. We do not know the extent of their power, we need strong fighters in the forefront.” you say and Ramonda nods in agreement.

“You heard her.” and it’s like clockwork the way they dive into action. “Phambili!” Ayo exclaims as they leave, until only Riri, Ramonda, and you remain. “You spoke my thoughts exactly.” the Queen tells you and your confusion is palpable. “No disrespect, Mama.” and she smiles at the endearing name. “ But, why did you have me answer?” you ask and she scrutinizes you. “Because I believe you and my daughter will be together for a long time and some day I won’t be here to make the hard decisions.” she begins and you cut her off.

“Don’t speak like that. You will be fine.” you insist. “There is no need to try and prepare us for a world after you’re gone, because you’re still here.” you tell her. “And you will be for a while. I swear it on my life.” you say, refusing to hear anymore. You know what she’s aiming for. She’s scared Namor could be what takes her out, scared that Shuri would be all alone, overwhelmed and left up the shore without a paddle. So she was trying, albeit, by throwing you into the deep end, she was trying to prepare you to be a leader.

But you didn’t want to think about that. Ramonda sighs, but concedes.

“See if you can get in contact with the princess.” she says, and that you can do. You trigger your Kimoyo Beads instantly, and Shuri’s face makes some of your tension melt away. “Sthandwa.” you exhale as Shuri takes in your panicked expression. “Where are you?” you demand. “I’m in the lab, but I’m headed towards the city.” she explains and you’re already shaking your head. “No, no, no. Shuri, no!” you exclaim. “Shuri stand down. That is an order.” Ramonda adds. “I am with Aneka, they will need air support.” Shuri argues.

“Aneka, do not let her leave the lab.” Ramonda warns. Shuri begins to make crackling noises with her mouth, and you tense. “Shuri!” you exclaim. “What’s that? Intliziyo yam, I can’t hear you.” she continues her performance. “Ihlabathi lam, zama ukuba nengqiqo.” you beg, but it’s no use. “You’re breaking up. I love you both. Bye.” and then the call ends. Shuri Udaku has just hung up on her mother and her girlfriend. You squeeze your hand up into a fist as you scoff. “What the hell is she thinking?” you exclaim in a panic.

“Y/N, you gotta calm down.” Riri explains and you shake your head. “They already took her once.” you remind her. “She’s being irresponsible.” you add as you head for the edge of the throne room. Your eyes are examining the damage below, and it’s devastating. “Bast, what have we done to deserve this?” you question, and Ramonda’s lips quirk down into a deep frown. Riri follows your path, stopping just beside you. “We can’t just sit here and do nothing.” she says and you nod your head. “My Queen, do you have any suggestions?” you ask.

Ramonda thinks your query over before she nods. “Yes.” she triggers her Kimoyo beads. “Griot.” she calls for Shuri’s AI. “Yes, Queen?” he speaks. “Grant me access to the emergency response fleet.” she instructs and you snap your fingers in understanding. “Right away, Queen.” Griot proceeds. Ramonda steps up onto the mullion, and you follow after her. A holographic map of the city appears in front of you both. You both begin to help pilot the scarab beetles as Riri watches, eyes and brain moving a mile a minute. “Can I help?” she asks.

“Yes, come quickly!” Ramonda ushers her forward, passing off a pair of Kimoyo Beads as the three of you fall into a smooth rhythm. Two hydro bombs explode in the distance, and the damage is jarring. A deluge of water from the explosions rushes through the city. The double explosion causes water to torrent in through the window. The flooding has you panicking. How many casualties? How many of her friends, her peers, her family were out there in harms way? “Ayo, scramble air support to root out our attackers from above.” Ramonda instructs.

“Yes, my Queen.” Is Ayo’s response.

The trio continue to remote pilot the scarab beetles. “There are civilians in the North Triangle that are in need of evacuation, Queen.” Griot explains. “I’m on it.” Riri explains. “There’s too many of them.” you dare to utter it. “None of that matters, right now.” Ramonda explains firmly. “I need to know if you’re with me?” she asks as you blink away your panic. “Of course.” you respond. “We will survive this.” she says and you’re unsure if she means you both specifically or Wakanda as a nation. “Is that Shuri?” Riri speaks, and your on high alert.

Riri’s Sunbird is in the process of chasing after Namor himself. He’s faster than he looks, dodging every shot they try to take. Namor suddenly darts up, driving his spear through the cockpit of the aircraft windshield. Directly into the control panel. Shuri and Aneka lose control as the system malfunctions and crashes down into the moat. “Shit, he’s quick.” Riri mutters. “Okoye. Shuri’s aircraft has been shot down. Can you get to her?” Ramonda questions. “Yes, my Queen.” she responds a second later, and your hands are shaking uncontrollably.

You’re quietly muttering to yourself, cursing Shuri for being stubborn. Cursing Namor and his people for doing this to you. Cursing Bast for allowing this to happen with no justice. Ramonda looks away from the panel she’s controlling to look at you. You’re still hard at work piloting scarab beetles to dry ground, but you’re crying. Blinking harshly every few seconds to push them away. Namor flies to the Tribal Council windows, and stares at the three of you. You immediately find that you hate him. Hate him for hurting Shuri and your country.

His glare is terrifying as he looks to Riri, and you move to push her behind you, blocking his sight of her as Ramonda does the same to you. “Stand behind me, intomba.” she instructs, and you listen. Hand holding onto Riri’s arm tightly. “It’ll be okay.” you ensure, and Riri’s terrified, holding onto you, nails digging into your skin. It hurts, but you ignore it. “We’re gonna be okay.” you say firmly. Namor cocks his spear and swings it, slamming it down onto the windows. You don’t even blink, this is what your whole life had led to. You were a warrior, a protector.

The glass spider cracks, but holds. “Finish.” you instruct to Riri, head nodding to the holographic screen. She nods loosely, scurrying back into place. “One minute until the last scarab beetle is to safety.” Griot explains. “Excellent.” you mutter. “You’re doing so good, Riri.” you encourage, as you turn to the Queen. “We’re almost out of this.” you say and she squeezes your shoulder but says nothing. Namor smiles at Ramonda through the window, then drops below. “Shit.” you curse again, and you move to eye out where he’s gone.

Ramonda turns to you and Riri with panicked eyes. “Take the child and go!” she demands as you freeze up. “Wait what? And leave you here?” Riri voices your thoughts. “Run!” she pleads and you feel panic and bile in your throat. “Mama.” you start, already shaking your head “You know I can’t do that. Shuri would never forgive me. I would never forgive me.” you tell her and she’s looking between you and the glass. “You have to take the child, and go. That is an order, from your Queen.” she snaps. You know, she’s just trying to protect you.

“I’m not leaving without you. If we all go, we can make it. The longer we sit here fighting over it, the more trouble it’ll be.” you remind her. “Y/N, we do not have time for this. I am your Queen and you will do as I say, now! Run!” and she shoves you, hard. You stumble down the steps, right into Riri’s awaiting arms, she holds you by the wrist, tugging you with her, but you’re shaking your head all the while. “Mama, stop this!” you exclaim. Before you can call out for her again, Namor emerges holding three hydro bombs in his right hand.

“CH'A TOH AJ TEPAL!”

You call out for the Queen again, but you’re not sure if anyone hears. Namor hurls the hydrobombs at the Tribal Council windows. They decompress into water just before reaching the windows and they crash against the glass. It shatters instantly, the room flooding with water rapidly. You, Ramonda, and Riri are sent hurtling down in a rush of water, glass, and furniture. Your bodies begin to sink down a level, now on par with the Timbuktu structure. Your holding your breath, allowing your eyes to adjust to the sting of the water.

You’re frantic, but careful not to panic. You look up to the platform, it’s a bit of a swim for anyone. You could make it, you know you can. You spot the queen, she’s unconscious and you’re immediately swimming for her. She jolts back to consciousness, relief washing over you in waves. You move to help her and she shoots you a scalding glance. She points to Riri and you falter. She does it again. It’s like you can hear her in your head. “Save her now.” you don’t want to, but you turn away from the Queen, eyes to the right of you instantly.

Riri is lifeless. Your heart lurches and you swim towards her. Your thoughts are loud. You’re okay, Riri. We’re gonna get you home. Get you back to Chicago, back to your mama. You use your strength to swim towards the top, pushing on her body until she was out of the hole, laying on her back in the center of the room. You take in a gulp of air before you dive back down, searching frantically for the Queen. If your slothiness cost you the Queen’s life, you’d never forgive yourself. You spot her soon enough, and you rush for her.

You grab hold of her hand, and you hate that you’re feeling lightheaded. “Mama, if you can hear me, you’re gonna be okay. I’m gonna get you out of here, okay?” your thoughts are ringing, and when she looks at you fondly, you’re certain they’ve translated over. She helps you lug her towards the top. You’re an excellent swimmer, but this second trip seems to be all the more damaging. The hole seems to grow farther and farther the more you swim. Ramonda is jerking on your arm, encouraging you not to give up as you keep going.

Once you’ve reached it, you push the Queen out of the hole, just as your run out of oxygen. She’s out, that’s all that matters to you. The Queen has been saved. Even when water fills your lungs and the burn makes your entire body feel like it’s lit on fire, you’re okay, because the Queen is alive, Riri is alive. They’re safe. You try to will your eyes open, but the heavier they grow, the less you want to fight it. Your eyes close and you begin to sink, finding yourself further and further in the depths of the water. Your last thought before it all goes dark is of Shuri.

forgive me.

When Okoye enters the Tribal Council Room followed by Nakia, she’s on the verge of collapsing. Riri is laying on the platform and Queen Ramonda floating in the water, face-down, as Namor floats outside the broken glass. Okoye races to pull Ramonda out as Nakia turns Riri over onto her back to check her vitals. “You did this!” Namor exclaims. A beat passes. “I came with only a few warriors.” Namor continues his lecture. Okoye and Nakia use their kimoyo beads to try and resuscitate Riri and the Queen. Shuri and Aneka enter, and Okoye turns.

“Keep her back!” Okoye exclaims. “Mother!” Shuri shouts, and then her eyes are on Riri. They’re the only two there and she feels a fire lighting up inside her. “Y/N!” she shouts and Nakia and Okoye both freeze in place. How had they forgotten. How had they forgotten you. “Where is she?” Shuri demands. “Y/N/N?” she moves to enter the room further, only for Aneka to grab her. Shuri’s struggling in her hold. “Y/N!” she shrieks. “Where is she? Where is Y/N/N. Ihlabathi lam, intliziyo yam? Uye phi?” she wails, to no avail.

“There!” Nakia’s eyes land on a floating hand. “Do something!” Shuri’s thrashing against Aneka. Three Dora goes to retrieve your body from the water as Okoye does chest compressions on Ramonda, fearing it’s already too late. Your body is pulled from the water and you’re laid on your back. You already look so lifeless, Shuri can feel her heart concaving. Every bone in her body feels like it’s been snapped in half, every breath feels like a stab to the stomach. Everything hurts, worse than she’s ever experienced, worse than she’s ever imagined before.

Seeing you, seeing her mother, identically incapacitated, frail, and weak. It’s too much to take. “Bury your dead, mourn your losses.“ Namor taunts. “You’re the Queen now.” he adds. “In one week’s time, I will return with my entire army.” Namor continues. “Let me go!” Shuri demands. “Mama!” she sobs. “Y/N/N!” she hasn’t cried this hard in so long, it’s enough to suffocate her fully. Ramonda remains unresponsive, M’Baku, and Aneka rushing in after. “And you will either join us against the surface world, or we will wash Wakanda from the face of the planet.” Namor turns and dives into the waterway surrounding the building.

As he hits the water Riri jolts awake, coughing up water. Ramonda doesn’t. “Let me go!” Shuri exclaims again. “Come on, my Queen. Wake up!” Okoye whispers. Nakia moves to check the Queen’s vitals as Okoye continues to try to revive Ramonda, her eyes welling with tears, but she’s gone. “She’s gone.” Nakia mumbles and it’s like a dam breaks in Shuri. She’s fallen to her knees by now, the tears are never ending. You haven’t responded to any of the shocks from the Kimoyo Beads. “There is no telling how long she was under.”

Nakia’s voice causes Shuri’s body to go rigid. Eyes like slits as she turns to her. “We have no way of knowing if her body has already succumb to-” Shuri cuts her off instantly. “Then keep trying until you figure it out!” she exclaims. “Wake her up!” she demands, and Nakia swallows thickly. This would be the ultimate blow, losing both her mother, and the love of her life all at once. Shuri might not ever recover. She hears the Kimoyo Beads of the Dora’s in front of you revving up. She hears the “clear” in her head as they try to shock you back to life, but there’s no sign you’re even still here.

“Please, please, please.” she says under her breath, “I can’t take anymore.” Aneka’s still holding her, cradling her like a baby. “Wake her up, wake her up!” she shouts, and the anger is ever clear in her tone. “Please!” they’re not sure who she’s begging, but they continue their work. “You owe me.” she mutters, and she hopes that Bast, wherever the fucker was, hears her. “You owe me this. You’ve taken everything else. You owe me!” she exclaims. Aneka is silently cooing, rocking them both back and forth as Shuri grows angrier and angrier.

“You owe me!” she exclaims, and she doesn’t care how loud she must sound. “Check her vitals!” she can only hear bits and pieces of the conversation, but they’re all surrounding you. She wants to get up, she wants to be the one to check, she wants you to feel her, know that she’s there. She wants you to know that it’s okay for you to wake up. That she’ll be there to catch you. “Please.” she whispers again, and her vision is blurred. “Buyela kum sithandwa sam. Ndicela ungandishiyi ndedwa apha.“ she whispers. “Heartbeat detected.”

It’s Griot’s voice that’s a saving grace. “Keep trying!” Aneka exclaims, and they listen to her. Now it’s a race for time. The first shock, makes your back arch off the ground, slamming back down. The second one sounds like it hurts, but Shuri’s not sure if that’s because she’s in pain. “Come on, usana.” Shuri whispers, nails digging into the pads of her hands. “Vuka sithandwa sam. Ndicela uvuke.” she begs. The third shock has your vitals spiking, and they can all finally hear the quiet thrum thrum of your faint heartbeat.

The fourth one falls short, and they’re ready to throw in the towel. “Just one more.” she pleads, and all eyes snap to her. “Please.” she begs, and Nakia and Okoye share a glance. “Please.” she repeats, and it’s silent. There’s a moment of nothing, and then the shock rings out loud and clear across the room. Water comes flying out of your mouth, exploding like a dam as you upchucked all over the floor. Shuri’s yearning to run to you, but you’re not allowed. Because despite the water being removed from your lungs, you haven’t opened your eyes.

You’re still unresponsive.

Namor had still won.

When you woke up, you weren’t sure what to expect. You’d given your life for your country, you had resolved yourself to death. You expected to see something along the lines of what T’Challa had witnessed when he’d been greeted by his father. “Intombazana yakho.” you whirl around, eyes landing on a face you hadn’t seen since you were a child. “Mama.” you say as your eyes adjust to it all. “What are you doing here?” she demands, head shaking.

“It’s too soon, it’s too early.” she exclaims. “It’s okay, mama. I chose this. I chose to give my life for Wakanda. I’m okay with this.” you try to explain frantically. “But what about Shuri?” she asks and you freeze. Shuri, how had she slipped your mind. Shuri, the love of your life. Your sun, stars, and moon. “Shuri.” you breathe her name out, chest tightening instantly. “Oh, my love, how could I leave you.” you say, and you wonder if you can cry in this place. If you can feel at all.

“It’s too soon.” her voice is like a whisper, and she’s suddenly gone. “Mama!” you exclaim in panic. “Mother, where are you?!” you shout. You get no response, instead you’re met with the sight of Shuri. Although, you’re unsure how you’re seeing her. She’s making her way towards the river holding a large weight in her hand. Your surrounded by thick forestation, but it slides right through you like you’re not really there. Nakia and Okoye emerge from the forest behind Shuri, and you wonder if any of them notice you. Your guess is no.

“Shuri.” Okoye exclaims. “Go away.” Shuri warns. Her feet have hit the water, the weight armed and ready in her hands. “Wait.” you mutter, and it’s all clicking. “Shuri.” you’re rushing towards her, but the closer you get, the farther she appears. Only unlike when you were in the water, you don’t think it’s an illusion this time. “Shuri no.” Okoye pleads. She takes a step towards Shuri, who lifts her arm revealing her gauntlet, locked and loaded. She aims it right at Okoye’s head. She was on a suicide mission, and the thought made you sick.

“Leave me alone.” Shuri demands. “Shuri, don’t do this.” Nakia begs. “Shut up, spy. Leave, like you always do.” she spits venomously. “Not without you. Shuri you have so much to live for.” Nakia tries. “No I don’t! Everyone I love is gone. All of them. I have nothing left.” Shuri wails. “You have us.” Okoye tries to reason. “What am I to you? A job you are no good at.” she jabs. “You were so wrapped up in other things you let her sit in the water.” she reminds them. It takes a moment for you to realize she’s talking about you.

“Had you paid better attention, she’d be here. Instead, she’s a vegetable. She’s gone, and it’s your fault.” she cries even harder. “Shuri I…” Okoye’s voice cuts off. “You swore to lay down your life to protect my family… all of my family… but they are gone and you’re still here.” Shuri says. “If you had any honor left, you would not show your face.” she sneers. This lands on Okoye. Okoye turns away and starts to leave, Nakia tries to grab her but Okoye pulls away and heads back off into the forest. Shuri then turns her attention to Nakia.

You find yourself stuck in the same spot, eyes glossing over at this version of Shuri. “And you… you swore yourself to my brother then ran off when we needed you most.” Shuri had talked your head off many times about her beef with Nakia, you understood her feelings, but they never should’ve come out like this. “You are right. But Shuri you can’t do this. What would your mother want of you? She lived her life for you.” Nakia speaks. “And what of, Y/N. By some miracle she is granted new life and returns to a place you no longer are.” she says.

“How would she feel knowing you gave up your life?” she asks. “It hurts too much. I can’t bear it.” Shuri exclaims, and she claws at her chest. “You are strong. You have your father in you. You brother in you. Your mother.” Nakia says. “Y/N is with you. She has fight left in her, yet.” she adds. “Then why can’t I feel them? Why can’t I hear them? I want to hold them. Feel their warmth. I want to tell my mother how much she meant to me. I prayed to Bast after T’Challa died, I asked him to take me before my mother. I let the prayer comfort me. I let myself believe the lies.” she explains and your heart is tearing in two.

“Y/N, she was my everything. I wanted to marry her one day, spend the rest of my life explaining how much I love her. I was supposed to protect her.” Shuri exclaims. “Y/N made an oath to lay her life down for her country, and that is what she did.” Nakia exclaims. “No.” Shuri shakes her head rapidly. “I don’t care about that warrior oath!” she spits on the ground as she says this. “She made an oath to me. A promise.” she pokes at her chest. “And your God knew it.” she scoffs. “I prayed to Bast every night for Y/N. How dare she take her away.” she hiccups.

“How dare she take them all away from me. And yet, I’m expected to bow and honor her? What honor does she deserve but a quick death for taking what is rightfully mine?” Shuri demands. “Don’t say that, Shuri.” Nakia warns. “She didn’t do this to hurt you. You have to live. It’s what your mother wanted. She told me as much. It’s what your brother wanted. We need you. Wakanda needs you. The word needs you.” Nakia says. Shuri lowers the gauntlet. Nakia rushes to her and embraces her. But Shuri isn’t sure it’s enough. You’re on your knees by now.

Your head’s so stuffy that everything hurts. Tears spill like raindrops from your eyes, and you want to leave this space of limbo. “Usana, I’m here. I haven’t left you, I’m right here!” you try, but it’s no use. You’re too far gone for her to hear.

image

“We buried mother today.” Shuri’s at your bedside, you don’t look quite as frail as you did, fresh out of water. But you’re still not awake, which means something she’s doing isn’t good enough. She examines you closely, hears the quiet humming of all the wires and cables stuck in you. “They say if you do not improve soon, they will have to pull the plug.” she spits the phrase out venomously. “They said, we cannot afford to watch after you with Namor on the lam.” she drags a hand over her face. She’s crying again.

“Ndicinga ukuba yinkunkuma leyo.” she says as she reaches for your hand, She runs her thumb over your knuckles, squeezing too tight for comfort. “Because you’re gonna wakeup, Usana. You’re gonna be okay, I know it.” she says. “I just have to — try a little harder.” she says. From where you stand, you see your body, you see your girlfriend next to you. This place, this limbo you’ve found yourself in is lonely. You haven’t seen your mother in a while. It seemed after she’d disappeared, you been cut off. So not even the Ancestors could comfort you. “Vuka, nkoszana. Vula nje amehlo akho.” she says and you frown.

“Bast!” you call out. If this was the Ancestral realm, would it not stand to reason Bast and Sekhmet would be there to greet you? That was what you had always been taught anyway. “Hello?” you shout. You feel like you’re stuck in place. It’s heartbreaking, being able to see your nation in ruin, with no way to salvage that. No way to help them. Only watch from a distance. You’d long given up trying to reach out and touch, Shuri. This place it impossible for you to get too close.

“Can anybody hear me? I don’t want to be here anymore!” you exclaim. There’s a beat, a moment of unparalleled silence before you blink again. When your eyes open you’re met with the sight of Queen Ramonda. She’s standing at the edge of what looks like a cliff. The water is roaring voluminously. “Mama!” you exclaim, and she turns, aghast at the sound of your voice. “Y/N.” she mumbles, and before you can help it you’re running towards her. When you are able to embrace her, you squeeze her tight, unshed tears falling all over her.

“You shouldn’t be here.” you cry and Ramonda’s holding you. She’s still as posed as ever. “You shouldn’t be here.” she says. “This is not a place fit for someone like you.” she motions around. “As opposed to someone like you?” you shoot back, and Ramonda’s lips purse. “You misunderstand.” she says quietly. “While I can see you here now.” she trails off, looking around this new place. “This is not my resting place. This is not what life after Death is.” she says and you blink. “So then… what is it?” you ask and she frowns even deeper.

“You are caught in the place your mother calls “The Other”, and your eyebrows raised. “My mother, you’ve seen her?” you ask and Ramonda nods slowly. “Well, why can’t I? What is this place? What is the other?” you demand and Ramonda places a firm hand on both your shoulders. “Your body and spirit are battling. You died, Y/N/N.” she says and you look over your shoulder. Though you can no longer see Shuri physically, you can recall exactly how she looked as she stared at your body. “But my heartbeat. They saved me.” you explain.

“No, intombazana yakho.” she shakes her head. “You were already gone.” she says and your mouth falls in a silent gasp. “But-” you turn around again. “You are in a vegetative state, there is no way to really know if you will ever wake up again.” she explains and you shake your head. “So I’m-” you cut yourself off. “If I was dead, I’d be with my family. With the Ancestors. Not in this place where I am plagued by my lover’s grief.” you tell her. “You haven’t let go, Y/N.” she tells you. “What are you saying? What does that mean?” you demand.

“Your will is what’s keeping your heart beating. Your body is done. One foot in the after, but whatever resides in your heart, is keeping you bound to home. To Earth.” she explains, and she steps away from you, crossing her hands. “You have to make a choice. Will you let go and take your rightful place. Among your family, among the other heroes of our country, among your mother.” she pauses for effect. “Or will you fight for your life, fight for our country, for Wakanda?”

And before you can answer she is gone and you’re alone again.

Lift Me Up || Shuri X Black! Reader

Shuri found herself taking a stroll, she couldn’t bare being cooped up in that room, seeing you like that, anymore. She finds herself walking through the forest. She had no more time to mourn, the time to act was soon approaching. She would have to lead, she would have to grow up and find a way to defeat Namor. Problem was, she didn’t see a fight being worth it without you there beside her. She kicks a stray rock, and looks up at the sky. Nakia had been prompting her to pray, pray to Bast, pray for you, pray for healing.

She thought it was all bullshit. Bast didn’t care about her, Bast surely didn’t care about you. You, the girl she’d fallen for so suddenly. You were older than her, already wise beyond your years, even when she was a little five year old, and you were six. You were perfect to her then. Back when you were missing front teeth, and hiding behind closed bathroom doors, cutting off chunks of your hair, and swearing your allegiance to the royal family. Some good that did for you. She kicks another rock. She’s not sure she has too many tears left to cry.

Her entire body aches, she hasn’t slept, she’s picked around any food brought her way. She is grieving in her own way. “Y/N.” she speaks under her breath. Low and quiet, and she’s grateful she’d slipped out of the palace undetected. She did not want any watching eyes on her right now. “Uyandiva?” she asks. Can you hear me? Not just her words, but her heart. The deeper things underneath the surface stuff. “Are you here?” she knows it sounds silly. You were back in the lab, lifeless, heart monitor doing nothing but causing pain.

But her mother had explained how she’d found comfort in the five years you’d all been gone. Ramonda had felt T’Challa in the wind, she’d seen Shuri in the sunbirds. She’d found you in the warmth of the sunrise. She’s felt you all in the beauty of the sunflowers. Maybe Shuri could find you now. The forest was one of your favorite places to run off. When you’d first started seeing each other, you’d sneak out in the middle of the night, and find each other in this place. You’d spend the night talking about your dreams, your goals, your hopes.

Perhaps, she could try again.

“I have something to say to you. I think before I move on, I have to say it.” she explains. “Do you remember when I was fourteen.” she starts, and she leans against a tree stump, sliding until her butt rested on the marshy ground. “I wanted to head the Wakandan Design Group, but the Elders refused. Said I was too young, too naïve to lead, to handle the technology of our country.” she whispers to the air just ahead of her. “I was so hurt.” she adds. “They didn’t believe in me, they didn’t trust that I could do what was best for us.” she finishes.

“I wanted to cry, but you told me not to.” she laughs quietly. “You told me to do it anyway. To change their mind, to make them see me.” she gets conviction in her voice. “To make them see me as more than just a princess, more than the baby girl.” she proceeds. “Now look at me.” she shakes her head. “All of my dreams would’ve been nothing if I had not met you.” she runs her hands up and down the legs of her pants. “You believed in me, sometimes more than I believed in myself.” she sniffles quietly. “You saved me.” she adds on with a quiet sob.

“In so many ways, you’ve saved my life. You are the strongest person I know. You are everything I’ve ever wanted out of life. And I need you, Y/N.” she feels the tears splattering down on her. “I need you to be strong, I need you to wake up. I need you to come back home. Come back to us, come back to me.” she pleads. “I cannot promise much, we are a weakened nation, but you know better than anyone how strong Wakanda can be. We will not allow this or anything to-to come between us. This will not break us. It can’t.” she insists furiously.

“I have to lead, I have to make decisions for our country. I have to step up, and I need you to be here with me, when I do it.” she adds. “The Black Panther will return, but I can’t do it without you. I don’t want to do any of this without you.” she trails off. “Wherever you are, ubomi bam, fight. For yourself, for Wakanda.” she adds. “Just come back to me.” her Kimoyo beads begin to chirp on her wrist, but she ignores them briskly. When she starts to cry again, she feels relief in her chest, her shoulders relaxing as she leans her head back against the tree. The wind blows around her, and while it should’ve felt like a whip, it felt like a caress.
