"If thereâs one thing Interview wants us to understand, itâs that even vampires are caught in cyclical loops. And when youâre immortal, those habits can be just as dangerous... and equally devastating. We got a taste of this with the introduction of the vampire Armand (Assad Zaman), the apparent love of Louisâ life. During the first half of Louis and Danielâs interview sessions, he was masquerading as human; in reality, heâs 400 years Louisâ senior, and his influence on the latter smacks of Lestatâs own toxicity." "Itâs here that the cast gets the meatiest material to sink their teeth into. Anderson remains a high point as Louis, juggling multiple versions of the character across a century and change. Season 2 only expands his role as an unreliable narrator: itâs not that heâs willfully withholding details about his life, but heâs earnestly working to recover memories heâs buried. Itâd be enough to watch Anderson work through waves of fury, grief, and denial, with or without the added pressure of bloodlust and immortality." "Part of that has to do with the introduction of the Theatre des Vampires, the campy playhouse in which Claudia spends the bulk of her time. Though the character arguably gets more room to spread her wings in Season 2 (and Hayles takes every opportunity to imbue her with ferocity and compassion), a fulfilling arc still feels just out of reach⊠at least in the six episodes provided to critics for review."
(Part of the) Review by Inverse
I am still a Buddie shipper, but that does NOT mean I cannot be a BuckTommy enjoyer.
Y'all should take notes on that.
Just like Buck, you can like both.
TTPD is about IWTV
(Part Three)
This is a thread connecting Anne Riceâs The Vampire Chronicles to Taylor Swiftâs most recent album, The Tortured Poetâs Department. Part One will be linked at the bottom, if you want to start from the beginning.
5.) So Long, London
I think this song perfectly encapsulates the feeling of bidding adieu to someone, and someplace, you once loved. Sometimes the location where you fell in love, even more so than the person whom you fell in love with, can dredge up memories youâd rather forget.
Louis leaves New Orleans after his time with Lestat, losing a city he loves and a man he loves.
âI didn't opt in to be your odd man outâ

âI founded the club she's heard great things aboutâ

âJust how low did you think Iâd go âfore Iâd self-implode? âFore Iâd have to go be freeâ

âAnd I'm just getting color back into my face, I'm just mad as hell cause I loved this placeâ

6.) But Daddy I Love Him
Another song that could be interpreted in multiple ways. I could see myself screaming âBut Daddy I Love Himâ about Armand, Lestat, Marius, hell, even fucking Daniel. It seems Anne Rice has a penchant for writing morally gray characters that my father would not want me to bring home.
But I think Iâm going to go ahead and assign this one to our resident protagonist, Louis Du Pointe Du Lac.
Louis, especially in the AMC tv show, is the character who has to face the most judgment and prejudice. Heâs constantly having to deal with uppity racists and homophobes, and I think he deserves this song just so he can tell them all to FUCK OFF! LET HIM LIVE DAMMIT!
âClutchin' their pearls, sighing, What a mess"
âI just learned these people try and save you âcause they hate youâ

âRunning with my dress unbuttoned, scrĐ”amin', but, Daddy, I love himâ

âI'm havin' his babyâ
âNo, I'm not, but you should see your facesâ

âI'll tell you something right nowâ
âI'd rather burn my whole life downâ
âThan listen to one more second of all this bitchin' and moaninâ

âYou ain't gotta pray for meâ
âMe and my wild boy and all of this wild joyâ
