This is a thread connecting Anne Rice’s The Vampire Chronicles to Taylor Swift’s most recent album, The Tortured Poet’s Department. Part One will be linked at the bottom, if you want to start from the beginning.
15.) The Alchemy
Executive decision: This one is about Lestat and Louis finally getting their shit together and going back to each other.
“This happens once every few lifetimes”
“These chemicals hit me like white wine”

“What if I told you I'm back?”
“The hospital was a drag”
“Worst sleep that I ever had”

“These blokes warm the benches”
“We been on a winning streak”

“Cause the sign on your heart said it's still reserved for me”
“Honestly, who are we to fight the alchemy?”

16.) Clara Bow
This one is for all of ‘em. I like the idea of paralleling “fame” with being chosen to receive the Dark Gift. Just like a small town girl who never thought she’d see the big city, I think the vamps would never have imagined their lives to turn out the way they did.
The allegory of vampirism and fame is really interesting to me. Being chosen to receive a gift that so many desire and, yet, so few receive. A gift that feels more like a curse once you have it. Beauty and aesthetic being a cornerstone to your existence.
Are you seeing the vision?
Also, Lestat’s rockstar era fits nicely into the context of these lyrics as well.
“All your life, did you know you’d be picked like a rose”

“No one in my small town thought I'd see the lights of Manhattan”

“Promise to be dazzling”

“I'm not trying to exaggerate”
“But I think I might die if it happened, die if it happened to me”

"You look like Stevie Nicks in '75, the hair and lips”
“Crowd goes wild at her fingertips”
“You're the new god we're worshipping”

“It's hell on earth to be heavenly”
“... Dazzling”

11.) I Can Fix Him (No Really I Can)
Loustat? Lesmand? Armaniel? This song could apply to all of them.
But, let’s dedicate this one to Loumand. My first instinct was to say that Louis would be the narrator of this song - needing to “fix” Armand’s gremlin, manipulative ways. But I actually think a more compelling take on this would be having Armand play the narrator, and Louis being the one in need of “fixing”.
Take, for instance, Louis’ mental breakdown after Claudia’s (and Lestat’s) death. He’s so numb and despondent that Armand starts acting increasingly more and more desperate to get his lover to feel something - to “fix” his depression.
Armand even admits to killing Claudia in an attempt to ignite something in Louis - to no avail, of course.
Armand then tells Louis that Lestat is actually alive in NOLA, hoping that’ll bring some light to Louis’ eyes. But, it doesn’t.
He continually tries to pull Louis from his anguished spiral, trying his best to “fix” Louis’ problems, but in the end he has to admit to himself that he can’t “fix” Louis.
You can also totally look at this through the lens of Louis thinking he can “fix” Armand - make him a better person, be his moral compass so to say.
“He had a halo of the highest grade, he just hadn’t met me yet”

“They shake their heads saying God help her when I tell ‘em he’s my man”

“I can fix him”
“No, really, I can”

“Woah, maybe I can’t”

12.) loml (aka loss of my life)
Nicki and Lestat, duh. I think Lestat would consider Nicki to be the greatest loss of his life. And so many of these lyrics fit them. The way Nicki grew to resent, and then hate Lestat is just so heartbreaking.
“If you know it in one glimpse, it's legendary”
“You said I'm the love of your life”

“When your impressionist paintings of heaven turned out to be fakes”
“Well, you took me to hell too”

“Our field of dreams engulfed in fire”

“Your arson's match, your somber eyes”

“You’re the loss of my life”

"Interview with the Vampire’s second season immediately grabs the audience by the throat and glamors them into submission. It’s gothic horror that holds itself up to the highest standards of beauty, not unlike Lestat himself. It’s fascinating to see how these episodes very much function as an extension to the first season. It’s the continuation of one big story, rather than simply a second season. These episodes are inextricably tied to the first season’s seven installments and it’d be a futile effort to try to jump in with the show’s second season. There’s something to be said for Interview with the Vampire’s complete disinterest in drawing in new viewers while it instead goes all-in on expanding its rich mythology and character development. " "There’s an electric energy to Interview with the Vampire’s second season that gets tremendous mileage out of the first season finale’s major revelation that Rashid (Assad Zaman) is actually Armand, a fellow vampire and Louis’ (Jacob Anderson) lover. These vampires’ mind games and toxic relationship dynamics are fully on display, although this time around they don’t purely apply to Lestat (Sam Reid). Interview with the Vampire gleefully indulges in this territory. Its mental manipulation reaches new heights as Louis descends to devastating new lows. Interview with the Vampire’s second season excels when it comes to the depths of Louis’ eternal sadness and struggles. Anyone who felt pangs of sympathy for him in season one will be absolutely gutted in season two. It’s a harrowing ride, but he’s hardly the only wounded fawn." "This season is thoroughly Louis and Armand’s story, but the narrative gradually morphs into an aberrant love triangle of sorts. Interview with the Vampire’s new episodes provide enlightening and crucial context on how Louis and Daniel Molloy (Eric Bogosian) first met. On that note, the season’s fifth episode is the best hour that Interview with the Vampire has produced and an incredible accomplishment in television. It broke my heart in two and left me weak, drained, and dazed. It’s also shocking how this season’s interviews with Louis and Armand so naturally evolve into a twisted form of couple’s therapy where Daniel plays the role of mediator. It’s Who’s Afraid of Virginia Woolf?, but with vampires." "Interview with the Vampire remains a uniquely special vampire horror story that’s unlike anything else that’s currently on television. It’s thought provoking, timeless, humanizing, and haunting. This season is such a beautiful reflection of what it means to love and truly live — even if the majority of its characters are dead. AMC will hopefully continue to let this interview run for as long as there’s breath in its lungs. It’s a powerful and important counterpoint to the horror genre that sucks blood from ambivalence and apathy so that it can truly take flight and soar."

I am still a Buddie shipper, but that does NOT mean I cannot be a BuckTommy enjoyer.
Y'all should take notes on that.
Just like Buck, you can like both.
