okay the ship isnt funny anymore can we please have a new one

i know the conversation turns to just leather subculture a lot in these discussions cuz its visible and its like... kind of easier to defend, but im gonna say like... yes sometimes there are people at pride with puppy hoods and leashes and strapons as parts of their outfits, they are sometimes being sexual and again... im fine with that

i think thats not just a neutral but a good thing

im not doing this "well is pride a protest or a celebration, you cant have it both ways for your arguments" like yes you can! in fact thats kind of the whole point!

pride marches started as a response to the ways in which our existing, our sexuality was and is seen as a moral danger, a threat, an abomination

being OPEN with our sexuality, CELEBRATING that openly is what MADE it a protest, showing that we were proud of who we are and that we werent going to confine ourselves to motel bedrooms to appease cishet people

and from the way people still act about our sexuality today, the way yall hop on board with the "dirty sexual gays are a dangerous corrupting influence of vulnerable youth" train without a seconds hesitation its clear that that kind of protest is still important and valuable

we can make (and have made!) separate family friendly pride events without demanding the sanitization and dissolution of celebrations of our sexuality

and i fucking hate hate HATE how these discussions endlessly prevaricate about the harm of any shred of fetish or sexuality being visible at pride, but never ever discuss the positive impact of lgbt people seeing for the first time people like themselves being open and yes, being sexual and proud of it and that being celebrated and not maligned

that was fucking huge for me when i went, to see that, to feel for the first time for real like i wasnt just some weird pervert but there were other people like me and they were happy

even if you want separate pride events for families and kids, and i want that too, the way you talk about any hint of gay sexuality that isnt clean and approved and sanitized with just disgust dripping from your words, it sounds no fucking different from everyone else calling us degenerate freaks, it sounds exactly the fucking same

also like i know a good portion of not most of yall saying this shit havent actually been to pride cuz even at the ones that dont run simultaneous separate events, one adult one for kids, the ones in cities typically have different sections, part on the street, part in clubs, part in a park with booths, and they all have different vibes

like im all for separate spaces but im never gonna get on board with yall trying to erase our sexuality, yes the sex part of our sexuality, under these stupid guises

i hate piano why are there so many buttons my 4th and 5th fingers are useless who the fuck is hannon and why do i have to do the hard things with ny hands
