Best dynamic, change my mind /j

Building off of a post by @nezuiscool regarding animal behavior; I also believe that Nezu would fight (if necessary) more like an animal on four legs. I’m going to also assume Nezu’s reflexes and general agility surpass standard humans and would use this to his advantage to dodge hits and jump substantial distances to confuse opponents. His small size is also something most people have never fought against — thus giving him the advantage.

I headcanon Nezu using his sharp claws to hit pressure points not requiring as much strength as his main offensive attack. And (if acting as a good hero) having to resist the natural instinct to go for the back of the neck with sharp teeth to sever the spinal cord for a killing blow.

Just imagine a massive, super fast rat sprinting at you. Horrifying. Anyway. This took waaay longer than I thought it would. But, at least the next chapter is almost done (along with my sanity).

Squishy

“So let me get this straight” mr. Aizawa sighed as he pinched the bridge of his nose,

“You’ve been crying all week, which has been disrupting your classes and your classmates-” he paused seemingly growing more tired by the second,

“-Because your pet hamster died?” He finished, annoyance and disappointment clear in his tone.

“His name was Squishy” you interject quickly, feeling offended that your teacher, mr. Aizawa was so annoyed. The man literally slept with a hoard of cats surrounding him and had a habit of petting every cat he passed on the street. But when it came to a rodent, there seemed to be no empathy there.

Letting out a long sigh mr. Aizawa confirmed, “Squis-“ before cutting himself off. It appears he had been caught off guard and attempted to straighten himself up. Giving you a strong stare, as a warning.

“Well whatever the name of it was. You shouldn’t let the death of such a small pet, a hamster get in the way of your studying” he spoke strictly. Flashing his red eyes as his hair rose, to prove a point.

You don’t know if it was because of the fact you were so emotionally drained these past couple days or the fact that you hadn’t slept last night. But before you could stop yourself, you said very bluntly,

“Sir, your boss is a rat”

Upon realizing what you had done, you quickly covered your mouth with both hands. Worry began to sink in as you nervously looked up, to see a now rather annoyed mr. Aizawa glaring at you. Right before either of you were able to say anything however, a small voice behind the two of you said,

“I prefer the term, small mammal”

Up walked the principal, casually holding both hands behind his back. Though it seems as if he had just appeared out of nowhere, he could have been standing a few meters away the whole time.

Upon principal Nezu announcing his presence both you and your teacher straightened up. Though mr. Aizawa appeared to be more calm, while you were quietly dying inside. Hoping the principal had not overheard you call him a ‘rat’ straight to your teacher’s face.

Mr. Aizawa turns to the principal, bowing a little and apologizing, “Sorry if our conversation was getting too loud” which Nezu smiled to and waved him off.

“Nonsense” Principal Nezu began, “Your volume is not what had caught my attention” as he finished saying this, the principal’s eyes landed on you.

You cringe internally and begin to shrink in on yourself at this point. But before you could disappear out of existence, you get a quick tap on the shoulder. A little startled you looked up and saw it was mr. Aizawa, who was gesturing you to stand a bit straighter. Suddenly not wanting to look too like a mess in front of your teacher and principal, you straighten your posture. Hoping you hadn’t given either one a bad impression.

“I’m sorry for having called you a rat!” You suddenly blurt out, a little too loudly. Mr. Aizawa seemingly cringed for a moment from your sudden out burst, but the principal seemed completely un-phased.

“That is alright, I know you did not mean any harm by it” Principal Nezu started off calmly, “I also know that it can be hard on one’s emotions, when someone has recently passed” he finishes.

The principal gives Mr. Aizawa a soft glare, before turning his attention back to you. Mr. Aizawa didn’t seem too bothered by that look, in fact he appeared to be used to those kinds of looks and took it with stride.

“Death can be a difficult subject for many to handle, especially at your age” the principal says softly, almost as if he doesn’t want you to fall apart right there.

“While my staff has been trained about life events that may cause emotional turmoil for our students” the principal gestures with his paws in the air,

“It appears we will need to go into further training, so the staff would be able to handle death more efficiently” Nezu finished, this time glaring at mr. Aizawa.

Originally mr. Aizawa seemed unfazed, if not a little confused. But now he understood, now he understood what he had done wrong. He had called another animal a lower life form, that did not deserve sympathy for it’s death. Meanwhile the principal, his boss and superior was a non human, an animal.

Considering the fact that there have been some humans in the past and in the dark corners of the world today, voicing that they did not believe Nezu should be considered an equal. Mr. Aizawa knew he was in for a talking to, when he would next be alone with the small mammal hybrid.

At this realization, mr. Aizawa turned to you, the grieving student at the loss of a friend. Appearing calm, yet silently hoping to avoid the death sentence awaiting him, behind the principal’s eyes.

Mr. Aizawa spoke, “I see...” he said cautiously, before placing a hand on your shoulder, “I’m sorry for yelling at you” he began, “Uh...what was the hamster’s name again?” mr. Aizawa said, having suddenly forgotten the deceased pet’s name.

“S-Squishy” you said nervously, avoiding eye contact with anyone at that moment. At this mr. Aizawa paused, looking a little dumb founded and confused at the same time. He inhaled sharply through his nose and gave you a confused look,

“You named...your hamster...” paused collecting his thoughts, making sure he had originally heard you correctly, “Squishy?!?” He finished, looking tired already.

“Look I’m bad at names, okay!” You burst out abruptly, emotions flying off the rail internally. Trying to keep yourself calm, upon realizing you had another out burst. You steadied yourself, not wanting to look pathetic crying over a hamster, in front of your teacher and principal.

“..Squishy was the first thing that came to mind back then” you added awkwardly, feeling heat rise to your cheeks. As embarrassment washed over you and both your principal and teacher were now silently watching you.

Principal Nezu looking calmer, with an almost unreadable facial expression, if it weren’t for the small smile he had. While mr. Aizawa seemed a bit shocked at first, but then turned to an unreadable expression as he watched you for a moment.

Mr. Aizawa then spoke up, “Look, if you want to take the day off from your classes you can” he began, looking to the principal who nodded in return, “You can come find one of the teachers to talk to too, if you’d like” he finished softly.

“Yes both options are allowed and available” Principal Nezu chipped in, as he spoke happily. The principal had not moved much from his original position, standing near mr. Aizawa until now. Nezu was now slowly walking over to you, as if not to startle or scare you away.

“Emotions can be difficult to handle around death, however they can be helped and even released when spoken about” Principal Nezu begins, now standing directly in front of you. While mr. Aizawa stood in the background watching.

“Would you wish to try speaking about it?” The Principal asked softly, holding out a paw at you. As if metaphorically asking you to take it, though you could tell it was more of a gesture than offer.

“Umm...” You began feeling a little nervous. But honestly, who could say no to that adorable small mammal, that is the principal, “okay..” you replied nervously.

At this the principal nodded his head in acceptance. Smiling up at you kindly, while in the background you could see mr. Aizawa walking away. After he had disappeared down the hall, the principal invited you back to his office. Where the two of you sat across from each other, tea in paw.

“Now” the Principal begins, rubbing his paws together. An eager expression on his face, as Nezu stares straight into your soul, “Let’s talk about Squishy”
