listen to this song it will change your life
some guy: you can’t just burst into song in the middle of a play
guy about to invent musicals: oh you haven’t heard?
Does anyone else ever listen to music and just get ideas for animatics or like filmography? Because I do that too.
What are/is your favorite musical(s)?
Most definitely Ride The Cyclone, Heathers, Great Comet, and Alice By Heart!
Thank you for asking!
Just wanted to say, I’m open to musical suggestions! Just go to my ask box, suggest something, and I’ll get back to you!
It appears I’ve gone back down the rabbit hole that is Natasha, Pierre & the Great Comet of 1812.
what are your top five musicals?
Natasha, Pierre & the Great Comet of 1812
This is my most favorite musical of all time tbh. The way everything’s executed is just *chefs kiss*.
2. Ride The Cyclone
This musical is also great. I can see why it’s gained so much traction lately. The music, the acting, character development (*cough* Ocean *cough*), the creativity of it all? Amazing.
3. Alice By Heart
Another musical about grief/loss and growing up? Sign me up! I had heard about this musical for some time and I’m so glad that I listened to it. The songs are so amazing.
4. Heathers: The Musical
A bit lower on the list, but that doesn’t make it any less good. The songs, the acting, they’re great! The musical’s a bit on the darker side, but it’s great nonetheless.
5. Dear Evan Hansen
Now, I know the main character isn’t the greatest, but the songs still slap. The acting, singing, set, all good. It’s all pretty good except for the plot kinda being messed up.
I’m a bit late, but top 5 saddest musical theatre songs?
You’re not late at all! Don’t worry!
Doubt Comes In (Hadestown)
I was bawling my eyes out at the end of this song. I honestly had so much hope even though I knew what would happen in the end.
“It’s you.”
“It’s me.”
Gets me every time.
2. It’s Not A Game/It’s Just A Ride (Ride the Cyclone)
For this song, it’s the beginning that hits me the hardest. Especially when watching the boot. Just to see how much everyone (*cough* Ocean *cough*) has changed and to see how accepting they’ve all become is just so, gosh I can’t think of a word for it. But it’s just great. The montage of Penny Lamb’s life along with them singing had me crying so much. The last bit of the song makes me ugly cry. Seeing their acceptance and how they’re all going to stick together is so lovely (I can’t think of any other word for it lol).
3. Winter Blooms (Alice By Heart)
Such a beautiful song. But man, did it have me crying. Alice’s acceptance? The metaphors? Oh gosh, it’s so good.
4. Afternoon (Alice By Heart)
Once again, a beautiful song, but it makes me so sad at the same time. After all that Alice and Alfred had been through, it was time for him to go. The don’t/won’t you remember, gets me. Because, to me, he’s kind of saying, “Won’t you remember everything we’ve done?”, because they won’t be able to go on any more adventures. When I think about that, it makes the song even sadder.
5. Before the Breakdown (We Are The Tigers)
It doesn’t make me cry, but it definitely is kind of sad. All of these girls have struggles. The lines,
“But you could never ever be better than you.”
”Someday you'll grow up just like you should.”
Hit me like a truck. But, I guess that’s what makes the song sad right? It is called Before the Breakdown after all.
There’s just something so comforting about Those Long Eyes (from Alice By Heart). I can’t put my finger on it, it’s just so comforting.

Happy Halloween y'all! 🎃💥👻
not to be that dumb theatre ho but, to this day it still upsets me to see the same general shallow commentary on hamilton being rehashed because of the cringey parts of its fandom.
of course hamilton isnt a perfect musical, but many people seem to forget about the part where a puerto rican man decided to reapropriate an inspiring american narrative he discovered in a biography and gave it to dozens and dozens of other PoC (many of whose careers immensely profited from the unusual spotlight) in a usually predominantly white scene, and in the process created over 2 hours of absolute bangers after bangers which overall form a satisfying and emotional story, all of that topped with great acting and a genuine love for the arts.
Hi I need help was there not an interpretation of CATS the musical that was just straight up a cult or am I imagining things???
my fatal flaw is that i want to be Burr but in my heart i know im actually Hamilton through and through
#Clicks “Don’t Rain on My Parade” from Funny Girl
Can’t believe that I hadn’t seen this movie until last night. Still can’t get over how deliriously gleeful this whole sequence was.

Broadway musicals and the books they were based on
Is Your Theatre Friend Okay?
How to Tell if Your Theatre Person is Okay
(based on the musical they’re listening to on repeat)
From Least to Most Concerning:
Tuck Everlasting: Probably fine. Your friend might be yearning, though.
Heathers: Probably just routine ennui or angst, but if they’re only listening to “I Am Damaged,” “Lifeboat,” and/or “Kindergarten Boyfriend,” then they’re going through it.
Beetlejuice: If they’re only listening to “Dead Mom” on repeat, then you might want to worry. This is an “I am misunderstood” musical.
Waitress: Typically a chill one, but might be nostalgic and/or feeling stuck. Worth asking if they want to talk about it.
Dear Evan Hansen: Also in the safe zone, but if you hear too much of “Words Fail,” their self esteem is probably in the gutter.
Into the Woods: They’re either genuinely fine and just enjoying Sondheim, or actively having an existential crisis. Very little in between.
Cabaret: They’re either having a fresh and sexy time listening to Alan Cumming sing “Willkommen,” or you need to ask them if they’re all right.
Fun Home: Is your friend a tortured theatre gay? Because this is a tortured theatre gay musical. Just FYI.
Next to Normal: If Next To Normal is on repeat, like honestly on repeat, you might have cause for concern. This is a very high caliber depression musical.
Les Miserables: Your friend is wallowing. They’re probably crying about Gavroche because it’s easier to cry about French revolutionaries than process whatever they’re actually going through.
Spring Awakening: Please worry if someone you know is listening to any part of Spring Awakening on repeat. This is a peak depression musical.
I think the correct words would be,
"Musicals are so sad, there is never any happiness in them"
some moron: musicals are too happy there is never any angst or realism
dear evan hansen:
falsettos:
west side story:
into the woods:
spring awakening:

A person when they first meet me: You like musicals? That’s so cool!
