You, Me, & Baby | Gia & Brett
Gia didn’t know the details, but she knew enough. That Toby had left his pregnant girlfriend (or maybe she had left him but either way that) was enough. Gia’s first instinct in dealing with breakups was chocolate and wine, but Brett was pregnant, meaning wine wasn’t the best bet.
Finding the closest substitute in a sparkling wine and grabbing some extra dark chocolate didn’t seem like quite enough. As Halloween was approaching, the grocery store was beyond stocked up on candy and, today, Gia was grateful. Dropping a little but of everything in her basket, her next stop was to grab a couple different flavors of ice cream, soup, Mac and cheese…If Brett couldn’t drink, she could at least binge on comfort food.
Gia wasn’t instantly sure anyone was home. Brett’s car was there, sure, but it was a very walkable town and, on reflection, if she hadn’t been crying too much, Gia knew that she, herself, would want to just get away from it all if she’d had a particularly nasty breakup. Still, she had to try.
Stepping up to the door, Gia knocked in as friendly a way as she could knock before whipping out her phone to send a text. It's Gia! Just wanted to stop by and bring you some goodies. You home? Exhaling softly, she hit send and resolved to wait. Of course, the scent if Brett was everywhere, which wasn't helpful in locating but, as she listened more closely, she thought she heard something stir.
