I think one of my favourite jumping spiders is Opisthoncus necator just because its common name is just “The Murderer” for some reason, so if I ever go to look at it on iNat, I am greeted with this very accusatory title and what is essentially its mug shot

GIVE ME TIGER BEETLES OR GIVE ME DEATH

Improved my tiger beetle sprites. I think they look much better now :) and for every reblog this post gets I'll add one additional tiger beetle species to the game.

The problem with the old sprites was that tiger beetles are like 90% leg and at rest they like to stand with their legs sprawled out and their antennae out, and it was hard to get all that leg in a 32x32 sprite and still illustrate the elytra pattern. To fix this I gave them 48x48 sprites which gives them much more room to breathe and look natural.

Neighborhood meal- and garden-sharing programs.

Green spaces connecting to other green spaces.

The rainforest ADVANCING, churning up dry soil and turning it dark and healthy. 

The sky filled with birds and the sea with fish, their populations increasing. 

The air and water clean. 

Emissions-free vehicles on roadways, with speeds governed, and safe streets for tricycles, bicycles, dogs, deer, and stray soccer balls.

Solar panels on every public building, over every parking lot. 

Beehives and wildflowers on the open berms between roadways. 

The total lack of gunshots around the world, and instead the sound of shovels, digging holes to plant fruit trees by public sidewalks. 

Making a game about bugs :] this account is for sharing progress related to that and to share the pixel bugs I'm making along the way. This is a sfw space for people who want to follow along with this project or just enjoy looking at bug art :)

Premise of game:

- Turn game on

- bugs come :]

- add new bugs to your collection

- time advances automatically, different bugs come depending on at time/date/ temperature/weather/biome, use bait or light to attract different types

- let bugs run in the background and keep u company while u work

- over 500 different bugs :] maybe more depending on how silly I get with it

Im enjoying the longevity of tumblrs recontextualization style of humor. a seemingly innocuous post followed by like "posts that a gnome would make" or like "are you a phone"

yeah yeah yeah mortifying ordeal of being known and all that but sometimes a friend mentions something about you that you didn’t think was noticeable and it feels like your heart is being cradled in their hands

that one thing about blue jays being the one funky colorful guy in a family of goths is fake actually. theres a lot of blue corvids esp in north america. even some of the gothy ones have blue bc corvids just fucking love being blue.
