The "Axolotl" And His Twin

The "Axolotl" and his twin
This last week has not been super for my mental health, so redrew one of my first gf drawings to cheer myself up. Original under the cut.

Nice to see what almost one year of progress does. I'm especially happy with how my lighting has improved. Art style sure has changed a lot... ^^

For some reason tumblr is really buggy with writing atm, so a bunch of the words in the description/tags for the last drawing wound up scrambled?
Let me know if you notice anything odd!
What happened When Pines Family Know stan was Death?
I'll take it you're asking how the family reacted to the news of Stan's death in the "Overshadowed" comic?
I think the parents and Shermie would react similarly to Ford's "death" in the Author Stan AU, exept with far more guilt. Ma would be distraught over not having stopped Stan getting thrown out and blame herself. I do think Filbrick would feel some kind of remorse, but to what extent, I don't know.
Ford is the one who takes it the hardest. He reasons that since the inciting incident was his science project it's his fault. Despite constant reassurance that he's not to blame, he still insists he is. As far as he's concerned, he killed his brother and the guilt is crushing him. Stan was resentful too at first, but any anger over the fact that Ford didn't help him vanishes the second he sees how completely distraught and broken he is. His only goal from that point on is keeping him alive.
Hey, I just wanted to say thanks for all the kind words about my plushies. It means a lot to me when someone takes the time comment on my work!
I also want to say that I love your pirate AU and how you draw the characters! I can't draw anything on the computer so I really appreciate your talent 💖
You're very welcome! That sort of handicraft is super impressive, i know how to draw but I can't do anything more than basic sewing (and even then I usually need dad to help). I'd definitely buy some merch plushies if you were in charge of the designs. 😊
And thank you! I tend to get stuck in one project at a time and right now pirates is where I'm at.
I also want to wish you a speedy burst of inspiration and well-being!
This is not a suggestion, but rather an ordinary question. I'm still obsessed with your Author!Stan and I really need to know something. I'm writing the second chapter of "pen pals" (I don't know if you remember it or not. Au in au) And I ran into some problems regarding Ford's fake funeral. This will take up a very small part of the chapter, but that's what I had to rewrite a lot of times.
If you don't mind, may I ask:
1)If there is no government that forbids opening the coffin, would it be okay if Sherman performed this role?
2)Is there even a small chance that their mom would give in? This would simplify the task, but if the answer is negative, I also know what can be done (the main thing is to be canonical)
3)Besides Ma, did anyone want to see Ford's body? Or was it just her? It seems to me that Stan probably didn't want this, but I could be wrong.
To be honest, the line with their mom touches me to the core. It’s so good 😊❤️❤️
Ooh, excited to know you're still writing!
Stan and Ford did canonically grow up in a Jewish family, and I'm by no means an expert but I try to do my research when writing on an unfamiliar topic. Here's what I gathered when trying to figure out the "funeral" for myself.
As I've understood it in simplified terms (if I've got anything wrong please do let me know!) the custom for Jewish funerals is that someone is supposed to be with the body at all times from the moment of death until burial, the body is supposed to be buried as soon as possible, and the body should be washed. In the story both these things become impossible because there is no actual body to speak of, and that's one of the things that upsets their mom. I also think you generally don't display the body like how in other cultures one might have an open casket at the wake.
I don't see why the brother of the deceased wouldn't be able to be the one who does what needs to be done with the body. Maybe Sherman is able to convince Ma to let him because he wants to save her the emotional pain, and she's willing to concede because—while she wants to do it herself—Sherman is someone she trusts enough to let take that responsibility instead. Or maybe it's just a matter of practicality, if the crash happened on route to California where Sherman lives he might be the closest relative and so they leave him to take charge?
I think with Stan it could go either way. Either he'd be extremely persistent and refuse to accept that Ford is gone unless he can see for himself and have that closure, or he'd be too depressed to push much and doesn't want to know because he doesn't want to face the fact.
If Fiddleford had decided to tell Stan the truth about Ford being alive, would Stan have believed him? And if so, would Stan have tried to find Ford on his own? Would he be mad at Fiddleford?
To be honest, it's scary to think how angry Stan would be if he found Ford on HIS OWN. He would have hit Ford even if Ford had come by himself. And if Stan understood that Ford deliberately left the whole family to think that he was dead…
It seems to me that Ford would have heard a lot of non-childish words in his direction
And besides the government, he would have had to run away from an angry Stan
I think Stan would believe it, because he so desperately wants to believe it. He'd probably try to get Fidds to tell him where the heck Ford is, but I'm not sure Fiddleford would be willing to go that far against Ford's wishes. If he even knows. So it'd be up to Stan to track Ford down on his own (maybe with Carla and Fiddleford helping).
And whoa boy, the language thrown around in that encounter would not be child friendly. Obviously Stan would never actually want to harm Ford, but I don't doubt he'd be throwing hands.
