Here's A Little Lesson In The Tumblr Algorithm, For Those Who Don't Know: The Only Way For A Post To
Here's a little lesson in the Tumblr algorithm, for those who don't know: the only way for a post to be spread to someone's dash, after it's already been made, is through reblogs. Likes do very little for boosting visibility. Besides adding notes so a post has a higher likelihood of appearing at the top of search results for the tags they're featured in, likes are just caches to show/store posts you've liked. They do not significantly increase the likelihood that the post will be seen by more people. The only way to ensure this is to reblog it to your own blog, so your followers will see it.
Also, this isn't Twitter. I know that on Twitter, it's largely expected for most of your profile to consist of mostly your own tweets, and not too many retweets. Tumblr is extremely different, in that the entire site is made up of shared posts. The site is designed for maybe 5% of the content on your dash to be original content at any given moment, while 95% will be reblogs from others, and that's perfectly acceptable and expected, actually.
This is all to say that, I know a lot of you come from Tik Tok or Twitter, where liking content has a direct, positive effect on the content's visibility. I know that your FYP is dictated by what gets more likes/what the people you follow like, and that Twitter shows posts your following likes on the TL. But Tumblr is extremely different. So please, don't hesitate to reblog shit on this website, especially art/writing. If you liked an artist's work, the best thing you can do for them is reblog it because simply liking it will do very little to boost their post's visibility. This doesn't just apply to art either; if there's a PSA, theory, etc., that you enjoyed and want more people to see, the only way for that to happen is to reblog.

On Saturday, February 6th, inmates at the St. Louis Justice Center (CJC) staged yet another protest against the ongoing inhumane treatment and conditions at the CJC which have only gotten worse during the spread of COVID-19. Many of the inmates housed inside the facility have not even gone to trial and because they lack the money to bail themselves out of the facility, remain trapped inside, awaiting their day in court. As the following statement by an inmate reads, previous attempts to address the problems within the facility through the established channels have fallen on deaf ears and have been systematically ignored while the threat posed by the spread of COVID-19 among the inmate population has only gotten worse.
Excerpt from the statement from an inmate:
“Many of us have not yet gone to trial. There is at least one inmate who has been locked up at CJC for FIVE YEARS without going to trial. So how is it that the St. Louis Justice Center staff are allowed to be our judge, jury and now executioner during this deadly pandemic? We don’t want to DIE from COVID-19, especially not at the hands of correctional staff. We are tired of being purposely exposed to other inmates and detainees who visibly have covid. Jail staff won’t test inmates but claim that current pod members have been exposed to covid even though we have not been tested during the entire arrest and detention process yet COs are constantly placing untested people, healthy or infected, in a jail cell, pod or holding area, with healthy people. Even though we are inmates and regardless of whether we have been found guilty of a crime we may or may not have committed, our request is not unreasonable. This IS genocide. We are being treated like the Jews during Hitler’s regime. Instead of Germany we are in America. And the jail is being ran much like the concentration camps. But because we are black and brown and don’t ft the historical standard of American beauty, we are treated less than. We are being treated worse than George Floyd. Instead of one officer with his knee on one Black man’s neck for almost 8 minutes, we have several officers and agents of the Missouri, and more specifically the CJC, who are knowingly not following the COVID guidelines and protocols set forth by the CDC and US Department of Justice.”
So it’s come to my attention that a lot of people are unaware about the sudden surge of tubbo and ranboo shippers, and are probably interacting with their content without knowing.
Part of the reason I think a lot of people might be interacting with shipping content without knowing, is because the ship name isn’t the common fusion of their names, but is instead something that people might assume has the same meaning as “clingy duo” or “misferns”.
The tag im seeing used for the ranboo and tubbo ship is “enderbees”, so i suggest blocking that tag so you don’t accidentally interact with ship content that could easily be misread as platonic but is tagged with the ship.
Okay
1. Do not be toxic towards the creators or other members of the fandom. It's a damn roleplay. If you don't know what a roleplay is, please educate yourself before you hurt someone. And if you still can't be mature and nice to others, then leave, we don't want your toxicity here.
2. Do not start attacking a specific fan group for attention. I can assure you that you will get attention, but it's not going to be good. Certain fan bases will go after you and tear you down. It doesn't matter how strong you think you are, you cannot safely attack a fan base without suffering the consequences. And when the fan base strikes back, you can't complain and paint yourself as the victim. So for the love of every deity on this planet, do not attack fan bases for attention.
3. If you're an older person, please set an example for younger people. Don't start attacking minors because they're more successful than you. And don't start attacking a large group of minors because you think you have that authority. Please act like a mature adult and set a good example for others to look up to.
4. Just because you're a teacher does not give you the right to talk to a minor whenever you want. Especially when said minor doesn't even live in your country and has no relation to you whatsoever. Not to mention said minor doesn't know who you are and could be extremely uncomfortable around you. Just because they're a student doesn't mean you are their teacher. You do not school them, therefore, you do not hold that authority.
5. Adult creators, please do not piggyback off of younger creators. Especially when their content has no relation to yours. Do not freelance off a minor's content because you think you know better than them. And for the love of everything, do not start attacking a minor's fanbase for reacting to your own stupid decisions.
6. Again. Do not be toxic towards any kind of creators or their fanbase. Whether you're doing it for the clout or just because you want to pick a fight, trust me, it's not worth it.
I know this probably makes me sound petty and immature, but I really want to try and help settle some of the issues that are rising within the fandoms. There have been some recent events on another social media platform that have caused some outrage, and I myself am extremely ticked about it, but reacting the way we are is just adding fuel to the fire.
And if you happen to know what I have referred to, please don't name any names.
This all stretches out to other creators and their fanbases as well.
Reblog if you actually give a shit about anyone who's suicidal or depressed.
no one should scroll past this
Cindy: Hey… can I be a Jew?
Rabbi: No.
Cindy: Can I be a Jew?
Rabbi: No.
Cindy: Can I be a Jew?
Rabbi: You really want this? Sincerely? Not ‘cause this one’s trying to blackmail me for something stupid when I was 19 or for broccoli with your dinner? What is this for you?
Cindy: Honestly, I think I found my people. I was raised in a church where I was told to believe and pray. And if I was bad, I’d go to hell. And if I was good, I’d go to heaven. And if I’d ask Jesus, he’d forgive me and that was that. And here y’all are sayin’ ain’t no hell. Ain’t sure about heaven. And if you do something wrong, you got to figure it out yourself. And as far as God’s concerned, it’s your job to keep asking questions and to keep learning and to keep arguing. It’s like a verb. It’s like … you do God. And that’s a lot of work, but I think I’m in, as least as far as I can see it. I mean, maybe I’ll learn more and say fuck the whole thing, I mean, but I wanna learn more, and I think I gotta be in it to do that. You know… Does that make sense? Shit, did I just talk myself out of it?
Rabbi: Ask me again.
Cindy: Can I be a Jew?
Rabbi: Yes.
