Baekhyun’s health issues

Whoa… I’m going to try keeping it factual and concise-

So, Dispatch reached out to Baekhyun recently for a comment, and he revealed that his exemption from active duty was due to his hypothyroidism.

Baekhyun is said to have been diagnosed in high school; he’s been having regular checkups for years. When the condition gets serious, his throat and face swell up, so he’s been maintaining it with medications. Apparently, for this condition there are 3 stages (in military evaluation), and if you were on medication for 6 months or longer, you’re assigned the lowest health grading. Thus, the military placed Baekhyun at the last rung based on his medical records/ statement.

This means that after the mandatory basic military training (3 weeks), Baekhyun start his military duty as a social service worker. We already know it adds a few more months to the duration of his service (it’s 21-22 months vs 18 in active duty) . The upside of it is that he will be allowed to return home after 6pm every day, so he won’t have to live at the base. He may also be more active in terms of social media and such. Not to mention that k-eris may be lucky enough to meet him around the city while he’s working. I personally hope that this will help him rest and manage his health in a way that his schedule wasn’t allowing him to before.

P.S. Hypothyroidism is a serious condition that may have devastating effects if left untreated. But we know that Baekhyun has been keeping it in check so far, having annual medical examinations and taking medication. He’ll be fine, so let’s just love him even more and give him strength 🤍🤍🤍
