Fictober 2024

Prompt #1; "that was good work"

Characters: Trafalgar D. Water Law, Donquixote Rosinante/Corazon, Luffy, Ace, Heart Pirates

⚠︎ brief spoilers for Marineford in some places

Fictober 2024

Silence covered the room, each inch/crevice filled with dread. Accompanied with the sounds of faint voices and squeaking wheels, strained and vocal. He stood there, trapped within his own mind despite the surrounding commotion.

Today had been a loss for most even after all of the events that had tooken place.

Marine Ford had been an extensive battle, fights going on in every place you could look/search. It was rare to have seen someone not engaged in any form of combat, and they quickly did if they hadn't been. Screams and yells from everywhere. Swords clashing and guns and cannons being shot and fired.

While not the same, law could feel the slight connection between the two events- the sounds he could hear, at the least. Although the swords and such were replaced with the clanking and clinking of scalpels and other medical instruments, the yells were the exact same. It even seemed to be even louder and more enraged than before.

The sound came from one boy instead of the combined voices of both marine and pirates. The one and only Monkey D. Luffy. After his major loss in the war, he was nearing the edge, death almost taking it's toll. When he passed out, most thought it would've been for good. He had been put through so much stress, and the fiasco with his brother being struck straight through his heart certainly did not help with that.

The sound of a voice calling his name was finally what brought him back to his senses.

"Captain! We need you to act quick, he's starting to convulse and panic again!"

Shouted a familiar voice, most likely one of his crew members. Ah. That's right. He's supposed to perform surgery on the straw hat boy..

After he came back to his senses, Trafalgar began to make his way closer to the surgery scene. True to their words, the boy was having a panic attack of sorts while only being half awake and stable. The others were either attempting to hold him down to the table, while others could be seen running around for supplies or defending against the source of commotion. He had a panicked look to his eyes and shook in the hold of others and the table feverously and with great intensity. Few words could be understood, most being just jumbles of incoherent thoughts and abrupt yelps. Law could only really hear a repitition of 'no!', 'please, not my brother!' Among them.

As law begun his preparations, he couldn't help but think back to the now deceased 21 year old. While he had definitely not known him, ace was very well respected in laws books. He was an honorable man, courageous, kind and willing. Law knew briefly of the connections between him and others, and just how they had been affected by him. His crew mates and ordinary friends had all adored him for one reason or another.

The boy before him claimed to be the brother of this man, sharing similar features. But it could become quite obvious that they only shared some, like their hair and deep need for freedom in each of their own ways. The two had fought fiercely , both together and apart in the war before the climax of the war sometime After he was released from his shackles. A combination of fire & flames and rubber could truly be a force to be reckoned with indeed. Even with the great distance that had always been between them because of the sea, they stayed closer than ever. United through their hardships, following each other's lead. Standing in the presence of each other even from far apart.

The boy in front of him had long since stopped his intense struggles, instead fully passed out into a temporary sleep at the moment. When he had a collection of the right tools he knew from heart he would need, law began to quickly clear the area of the rest of his crew that was still there. They ushered out of the room after a few moments, leaving just law and a few of his closest members in the room surrounding Luffy. With the use of his devil fruit, law was sure that this surgery would come out in both his favor and the young boy. He began with the most deadly wounds, gashes, and deep cuts and spots of internal bleeding. His movements were paced, quick and efficient as he diligently worked through the task at hand. He knew he had a limited amount of time to complete this, and kept his hands steady as he used his abilities to remove a few internal organs to lower the risk of hitting or cutting them in any way.

"Room! Shambles."

In his hand he had previously held a dissolving pill of sorts, the next moment the lower intestine in its spot. He held it with his gloved hands, carefully lowering it to a safe space near him for future need. He used the empty space in the organs original place to his advantage, stitching any wounds in the spaces and near. When he had finished with the area, he repeated the same process to replace the organ into its spot and take another for more aid and healing. He begun to sew in a couple more stitches before placing that one into its place as well. He continued to move through the most obvious of the affected areas. Occasionally, he would find a minor cut and swiftly deal with it before moving back to the main things to be felt with.

Even with the others in the room, law swore he could feel a presence In the room asides from just them. It felt familiar in a way- too familiar. Though the sounds of his work was the only sounds in the room, the silence in the small space was louder than even that. He glanced around the room he could see without moving his head, eyes jumping from one place to the next. Nothing. Absolutely nothing, just the others. Was he going crazy? Sometimes he felt like he was, especially times like now. He did his best to ignore the dreadful feeling, continuing to work.

Little did he know just who was watching him. Miraculously, after his death, another man had been given the experience of being a ghost. Present in the world, but not fully existing in a way. Donquixote Rosinante, also known as Corazon to the people closest to him during his lifetime. He stood in his ghastly form just diagonal from law, watching as the boy worked. Even for a now dead man, he had one of the brightest smiles on his face. Still, after his death, law had continued on with life and pursued his dream just as cora knew he had wanted to. His sacrifice had definitely been worth it for the boy. Everything that he had done in benefit for Trafalgar D. Water Law had all been worth it all for him.

He layed his transparent hand upon law's shoulder, and the man shuddered. His own hands stopped in his work as he slowly looked to his shoulder, not quite knowing if he could actually see the faint outline of a skinny hand or if it was just his imagination playing tricks on him. The rest of the people and the room seemed to have noticed the stop in his progress, starting to wonder if they should speak up to their captain about it or not. His first mate, below spoke up before the others had the chance to.

"Captain? Is everything alright? It doesn't seem like Luffy is fully finished yet, and we're worried.."

" ..yes, it's all going well so far. I thought I had seen something in the corner of my eye, I suppose.. "

He responded with an anxious tone, still trying to asses what he thought to have seen.

That hand had looked way too similar to the hands of a man he used to know. The one that raised him after the tragic event and disease in his family. Could it be..? No. He's long dead, it couldn't have been him. Not out of all people, he had surely just been seeing things.

The hand had dissipated, retreating from his shoulder into a space that he himself couldn't see. Bepo clearly still was a bit worried at least, but stepped back away from the situation as he knew that he most likely wouldn't get a full answer, especially in this moment.

"Alright.. We're here to assist you in any way you need if you would like any help..!"

As law listened to the polar bear's response, he let out a small hum and a murmur of 'thank you, but I'll be fine with this surgery on my own for now..'. He did his best to get back to the surgery and stay focused on it instead of the mystery hand, still not fully able to forget about it. His mind was drifting back to the past- not good for this time.

Various times of law being drug around by Rosinante flashed in his mind. Him being held by him like a purse as Cora walked, Cora laughing along with him or even at him, Law being forced the Ope Ope no Mi in order to try and cure his disease he had had at the time, more, and eventually his death. He remembered that exact treasure chest he had been kept it. For his own safety, according to the tall, goofy blonde. Little had younger law known that that would be the very last time he had seen cora alive and well..

He shook his head abruptly, trying to shake the thoughts with it. While the thoughts didn't get through to him often, they could still affect him for the worse on an extra bad day. Everything that had happened ran through his mind all at once, and he found that he had a somewhat hard time even standing up right in this time.

The way that Donquixote Rosinante had died was beyond a simple tragedy. Who would let that happen? Who would do such a thing? Why would something like that happen?

The answer to all of those Bombarding questions was no one other than Donquixote Doflamingo, the brother of Rosinante. He had done it all himself with just a single shot to the head. He had told his brother himself the reason for all of his actions, the cause of Rosinante's death. He had been a marine in secret, keeping it all from the Doflamingo Family. The former man did not approve of his brothers actions at all, and the other words that he had been told in that moment was what propelled him to his ending course of actions. A loud bang echoed throughout the silence of the room- even though cora's abilities disabled law from hearing the gunshot, he knew just how it would've sounded if he had.

Even with all that law had witnessed and known to have happened, he was still somehow alive today. He kept on not only for his crew but corazon too. He was his mentor, the one who really raised and saved him. He made law a huge part of who he was today. He didn't deserve to have his life ended like that, shouldn't have died either way. Law felt himself growing increasingly more upset over the thoughts. It wasn't fair at all- not for either of them.

As he stared at the ground, it seemed to hold back a similar glare of its own. As if it was reflecting his look of despair and angered confusion.

He hoped that Cora was at least a little bit proud of who he was today. It had all been thanks to him that he was even still alive and talking to this day.

As he finished up the last of the surgery, he backed up a bit. The main gaping hole had been closed off, with the subject still laying on the table motionless. The same figure to his side still held a strong smile on his face, it continuing to grow even now. He was so, so very proud of his boy.

He played such an important role in the life of many, and helped people in so may ways just like he had said he'd do when he was younger.

Rosinante was more than just happy or moderately appeased by this. He was the happiest and most upbeat he felt like he had ever been. Cora knew that nobody else in the room could sense his presence as law could, and he was okay with that. As long as his kid could tell he was always there for him even in the most difficult of situations, then that was all he needed. His hands surrounded law's form once again, caring lingering touches to the top of his hair and shoulders as he did his best to contain his over welling emotions. He spoke as if the whole entire world could hear him, though he was aware that nobody could. He sniffled, tears of happiness threatening to fall from his blue eyes.

"I'm proud of you, law.. You've done good with your progress. I had nothing but the best of hopes that you would get to where you are today..!"

Fictober day 2

Prompt #16; "no, I'm not okay" as well as added parts of the whumptober #8 sleep deprivation and flufftober #23 stormy night

Characters: Monkey D. Luffy, mentions of the other straw hat pirates

Fictober Day 2

The dark light of the night sky shone on the decks on the sunny. Waves collided against the sides of the ship with fierce strokes as the ship tilted in their favor. Boards squeaking with a muffled sound from the other sounds. Nothing could be heard well over the harsh sounds of nature.

Nothing but deep blue sea water surrounded the thousand sunny for miles upon miles, covering all of the horizon. No signs of any islands. No random threat encounters, nothing at all. [Hell, the next island wouldn't be closing near until more than a week or two later.] Nothing but the occasional shift in tides throughout the days. It was becoming quite boring very quick for all of the straw hats.

Nothing had gone wrong for some time now, yet something still felt off. Luffy had roamed around the ship, trying to find something, anything, that was different. Nothing- not that he could spot at least. The ship was steered in the correct place, all the food was in the exact same place as usual.. But upon inspection, he felt like he suddenly hasn't eaten for days. It just sat there, uneaten and fresh.. it wasn't *his* fault that it all looked so tasty! The new reddish bump on his head said otherwise that yes, it was in fact his fault. A bit of scolding from Sanji before being shoved out of the kicthen for.the time being. He might have been fussed at by Nami for accidentally changing the course of the ship too, earlier.. But it really wasn't his fault, he just fell asleep..!

The rest of the crew generally weren't doing anything too interesting or new.. Some of them even offered to keep him company, but he had refused with a pout and sad tone to his voice, but he needed something more! He just couldn't tell what. Something he rarely did, to keep his mind busy..

After a long trail of thoughts, he had came up with a few new ideas- raid the food stash, bother Nami or Zoro, play with Usopp and Chopper, watch Franky repair something, get story time from Robin, talk with Jinbei, listen to Brook playing his violin.. Wait a minute. None of those seemed remotely new, not at all.. Huh. That's a bit weird.. Oh well.

As he kept thinking to the best of his ability, he got up and began to roam around the ship once again. He had a bit of a destination in mind for now. His legs moved with a steady pace, one step after another. As he walked, he looked around the area silently. His sandals clapped against the hard wooden boards, providing him with something to focus his attention and thoughts on. He eventually reached his destination, the front of the ship. If he couldn't find something new to do, he'd just take a second or two to himself on his special seat..

As he approached the front, he states down into the oceam briefly. When he diverted his attention from that, he looked up to the figure head and stretched his arm to reach one of the spike shapes that made up the mane-sun of the figure. He let his arm propel him forward and landed safely upon the slope.

He sat down on the same place as he had so many times before, taking in a deep breath.

The gentle breeze was more noticeable now, lifting his hair slightly swaying it around. His clothes wrinkled and flowed under the small pressure too, causing him to feel a cold rush. He shivered. Grabbing his vest, he adjusted it to cover him up more with a few of the buttons now together in a strong and firm hold.

He glanced up at the sky, still desperate to find anything that could distract him from the array of thoughts that he knew would invade ever corner of his mind if he didn't push them away. It was almost as black as the essence of a black hole, but instead holding a dark hint of blue. The color was illuminated by the array of stars that were in the sky. They shine with ferocity, not a single one unpresent from the bunch at this late hour of the night.

How could they just stay there, so free without any interruption?

He wondered. He might not have ever been the smartest, but he at least knew many things. He was wittnessed many things in the short time of his life so far, both good and bad. Even the in between.

He kept staring into the vast space, glancing from one bright star to the next. His eyes held a glum look, one with barely any passion in them. His face looked blank. If you were to observe his face from afar, you couldn't even tell that he wasn't the slightest bit at peace/happy. He simply didn't know what he was feeling. There was nothing more to it.

.. Not that he had yet to realize. Emotions were filling up in his head, but he suppressed them and shoved them into the deepest corners of his mind.

He didn't deal with his feelings good at all. He was never taught how to keep them regulated. He was tossed around and allowed to sob as a child, he hadn't known any better. As the years went by, he had barely changed in that matter. He still got heavily upset, still had terrible mood swings that went just as fast as they came. What else was he supposed to do when he felt something?

But after that event, he slowly realized that maybe it would be better to just push them away when they got too bad. Let himself forget about them for as long as he was able to, not worry about how it all made him feel.

He started to feel like he was out of place. His mind continued to wander as he sat there, drifting to all of the worst things that he had shoved away from his normal train of thoughts about ace, sabaody, and things like that. They were unwelcome to Luffy, but that didn't stop them.

Shades of blue surrounded him everywhere he looked. The sea, the night and morning sky, eyes, food, clothes- it had no limits. It followed him everywhere. He wasn't free from it's nulling and sad-enduxing effects.

But at least the stars were comforting. Every time they appeared, they were always together. Even if they should fade, they would always show back up, United together in the night sky. Luffy envied them in a way- no need to worry about protecting others, No fighting recklessly.

Of course, Luffy enjoyed a good fight, but it was almost pointless when something bad came out of it. His fighting was supposed to better his skills, make him more reliable for all of his friends and nakama.. Not the exact opposite. When someone got hurt, he felt like he was entirely at fault.

It made him feel like he had lost his purpose sometimes.

Dont get him wrong, he loved living- but sometimes he felt like he only lived for the others. The people in his life motivated him like nobody else, even though he could usually do that good enough on his own. Life could be hard as little as he liked to admit. He usually didn't let him steer his actions and demeanor like this, but he couldn't help it. Once too many things piled up, he tended to overflow like a cup that's too full of water. He hated it. He didn't like feeling this way, and certainly didn't want anybody else to see this sight. He sighed, rubbing his eyes with the palms of his hands.

To think that this had all happened just because Luffy couldn't sleep. The thoughts had started maybe a day or so ago, growing more loud and obnoxious until now where he couldn't even try to ignore them. Try as he might, he was not able to avoid them. Temporary solutions, maybe, but they of course never lasted long.

He desperately wanted some company, but most of everyone should be asleep in their respective cabins by now- asides from night watch. Maybe he should go up to the observation deck and see who was there? He could surely talk to them for a bit!.. Or just sit near them, he really just needed someone else's presence around him.

He decided to go there in a while, instead choosing to sit on the figurehead in the cold winds for a bit longer. As he stayed staring at all of the different stars, he layed on his back upon the spot where he sat.

'This isn't too bad,' he thought.

Perhaps all that he needed to help was a good moment or two of silence to himself?

Maybe part of it, but he knew that having one of his friends near would restore his ecstatic attitude back quickly. They always managed to bring his spirits up, no matter when, where, or from what. He treasured each of them dearly, and as held onto his closest treasures just as the typical pirate did. Each crew member had their own special connections to one another, and none was the exact same. Thats one of theany things that made this crew of his so strong. Everyone trusted each other, even if they didnt show it the same for each person.

As his crew had grown, he could tell that they were all getting closer. The firndships that had already begun and progressed were enhanced with each new friend they had gained to join them on their journey through uncharted waters of the vast sea. Despite all of their different goals in life, every body never stayed far from one another. It essentially brung them closer than if they were to have the same goal.. It gave a variety of different personalities and people.

As he focuses on all the attributes of all of his friends, Luffy could feel himself smile once again. The normal grin that plastered his face over and over throughout each day had finally returned. A fit of giggles and laughs erupted from his throat, pleased that he could feel like his usual self once again. He lays there, tapping his fingers, shifting around with energy waiting to be released. As tired as he was, he knew he still had a while to go before he could tire himself out this time around.

Oh well. He would still have plenty of time to nap after this, right? Of course he did!

He mutter an arrangement of words into the crisp night air, letting out a quiet and small yawn.

'Thank you, everyone.. Ace, Sabo, My Crew.. I love you all!"

Fictober day 3

Prompt: #12, "did you hear that"

Fictober Day 3

The second the anchor had been dropped into the deep sea against the ocean floor, the crew started to file off and loon around. Supplies, Food, Drinks, Fun games- anything that they felt fit. They had recently won a big battle, between a very powerful local marine(reporter.) He was more than they had expected, but barely caused them to exert themselves. It was essentially just a but of a minor work out for the red hair pirates.

Their captain had been one of the most eager to get off, surprisingly. To most, he was a calm and charming man who wasn't seen to be rushing through things often. When the island had been suggested, he approved of it without a seconds notice/with barely any thinking this time around. Everyone had prepared for the slight change in path/route. Plans were being made/had begun (made)the second they had begun to sail there.

Some people walked off the ship with another friend or two, some all on their own. Shanks had already decided/knew that he planned to look around alone this time around. He lingered near his ship momentarily after walking off, holding a book in his hands. As he paused, he flipped the page and his smile lifted up at the corners.

One of his members had approached him from near the dock, a bit intriguiged as he glanced to the book shanks was holding. He spoke as he walked closer with quiet steps/feet.

"I have not seen you read or hold a book in quite some time, captain. Is there a special occasion at this island (or so)?"

Spoke Beckman. His tone held the/a usual tone of monotone with a hint of curiosity.

Shanks replied with his normal calm/layed back tone.

"I guees you could say that. Lets just say, there's an interesting story/article I read about an/a natural power/ ? Thats in the deepest parts of the forest of this island.. (Ihadio) (NOT I daho)

Ben looks down to the book, skimming over what he can read of the page from where he stands. He hums in response, crossing his arms over his chest as he stands there. Deep in the forest seems a bit far for something that small and simple, but his captain was an interesting man. No matter how much or long he knew him, shanks never failed to surprise people in even the slightest ways. He was was more courageous than most so his urge to explore wasn't too surprising. As they stood there, another person came up from behind, wondering what the two were talking about..

" hey, what're y'all talking about? Is it somethin' about that legend I heard of?" Yasopp said with a tone full of curiosity just as beckmans.

The both of the men turned their bodies a bit to face Yasopp, shanks nodding at his question. He had heard of the rumor, and while he wasnt here for that, he knew that there was a risk of seeing it. He placed his bookmark back into the page before shutting the book he held. He thought back to what he had heard of this legend and what it was all about..

"You're half right. I was talking of something I was planning/hoping to look for in the forest- but (in order to get to it, I have to encounter that thing/creature) supposedly the creature is in the woods where I shall have to search. I have no clue/idea as to if it's true or not.."

"So, do you mind/care/want/would you like to share what exactly you're looking for? Is it simply just.. That..?"

Beckman spoke with a mellow voice/tone, moving one of his arms from his position/chest/crossed hold to point to the book. He had obviously(onvio) meant/been talking/mentioning the page that had just been opened. Shanks let out a small chuckle as he nodded his head once again- Yasopp stood there with a confused look on his fave.

"That..? What do you mean, youre saying you're going to go out there to search for something?"

He was quite confused/oblivious to what they had been talking/conversation over, standing there with a slight tilt to his head(to the left). What was so important that the captain would go all the way out there just to see/get/grab it? All he could think of was treasure, but he was sure that he wouldn't have been so secretive/discreet/ casual about it if that was the case.

"Yep. That's precisely it- you see, there supposed to be a beautiful, historic lily up deep in those woods.. One of the last island's that have any is the exact one where we stand. (They typically grow in forests just like this one here.)"

Shanks/the three turned to the forest, which layed upon the highest hills of the far side of the island. They watched as the trees swayed in the distance, the wind on the island staying at a constant state of weather usually. Closer up, people walked past the dock as they went about their day. Birds and animals could be seen and heard, and the chat of the town was very audible.

The other two turn back to their captain.

"Well, I guess I'll just leave you to it.."

"If you truly plan on going alone, them I shall go occupy my time with something else/another activity (sir."

Yasopp and Beckman both begin to part from their respective spots, both eventually walking in opposite directions after a short distance/space.

As they retreates/walked off*/away, shanks briefly looked to them before staring back at the area of his focus. He started to make his way to his destination just as the others eventually would. As he made his way, he (occasionally) dodged a few people walking near him or salesmen that would try to call after him. Through quick/sharp turns and corners, he had - made his way to the woods. Turning his head wonwards(downwards), a dusty/dirt covered path made it's path through the barrage of trees.

As he started his way into the darkness, shanks opened the book back to its previous page. Using his pointer finger, he read over the lines a few more times while resting/holding the book on the stub of his other arm(.. Or what was left of it?)

By the time he looked up, he had already came to a crosspath. He chose the first thing (that came across) his head, a left. He repeated the same process, using the book as a guide for where he would try to look for the flower at to start.

After a few hours(1/2 to 3?) Of lifting rocks, peeking from behind trees, accidentally running into spiderwebs and such, He had come across a small area with not very many trees. The space was more wide and open, moss and grass covering whatever dirt did not. He felt like it looked quite suspicious, so (thus) he held his guard high like he had already done.

He slowly stepped into the wide circle, looking between the trees/tree lines and to the ground and the vegetation that littered the area/grass. As he stopped in place, he knelt over and grazed his fingers over a few daffodils and orchids. He remained there for a moment before going to stand back up, pausing as he heard a shift of leaves and a few birds squeaking and flying off.

His hand moved swiftly to the handle of his sword that rested in its case as he made quick/haste to stand back up. Animals near the tree/ wood lines halted their movements as well as if to day "did you hear that?" To shanks as a few of them shifted their eyes around the surrounding space. As he finally stumbled upon a tree stump that was shaped oddly like a stool or seat of sorts, his eyes glimmered when he looked beside it. Bingo! There was the flower, right there.

Sadly his realization was interrupted by a sound of quiet humming from a source in front of his fov (field of vision. He searched the space in front and even around himself, eventually finding where the sound had been coming from.

A body stood in the center of the circle shaped spot.

They hadnt yet seemed to see shanks standing there, and only did they find that out when they went to look up. They tensed up, going to either disappear or coerce him away from their home. They held a deep sense of desperation in their words and overall voice.

"I... I don't know who you are, but you shouldn't be here.. This is my land, my home.."

*hey, I don't plan on doing anything. I didn't mean/intend to come across somebody's home back here, I was just looking for that flower there.. It's a real special one that I need."

He held his hand up to show that he had no real plans to attack them or anything of theirs unless they did so first, and the goddess can feel themselves relax. They begin to explain their situation a bit to the man.

"That's a relief.. People come here to raid my house sometimes, but they never want to help with my issues.."

"What sort of issues? I could see what I could do to help."

Their eyes lighted up at his sentence, their mood turning from gloomy to thankful in a matter of moments/seconds. They explained to him the issue they had meantioned, crossing their arms in front of them and holding their hands to get her politely as they talked to him.

"You see, these lands have been growing more than they should as of lately.. The vines have tooken over a few places and I haven't had the time do necessarily do so."

Shanks let his head relax down ever so slightly before agreeing easily without a second thought behind it.

"..just cutting down/away at seame vines? Thats really all?"

Shanks hadnt expected a request as simple as that. Especially/not from a seaghost goddes such as themself. But he supposed it was simple enough. If that's all that they requested, then he'd be glad to help/assist with it/them. (This is all he had to do to get the famous/astonishing flower)

"Yes.. That is all I truly desire. The vines have begun to overgrown near this little walking garden of mine, and I don't have enough will/heart to tear and cut them myself.."

He thanke

"Well, that's simple enough. Sure, if I'm able to actually get that flower in rewardd."

He sat the book in his arms on the tree stump, pulling out his sword slowly.

With just a few slow swings of his weapon, the vines had already all been reduced to nothing but shriveled up weeds on the ground in pieces. As he turned back to the sea goddess, they immediately had a thankful look to their facial features and floated over to him. They gently grabbed his hand, shaking his with their own vigorously and with much energy. They then went back to where the stump was, quickly getting to work (as she knew she would have to retreat back home soon enough.)

The figure dug her hands into the soil, carefully pulling the trail flower out of the sturdy dirt ground with all of its roots intact.

He then thanked them for the flower when they applauded him for his help(, inviting him to stay in hm their woods for as long as he'd like. He stuck around for a few minutes before walking off with a parting goodbye.

Now that he had completed his mission/goal at this island/task (at hand)?, he started his descent back to the ship. It was remotely later in the day, maybe hearing night/around 7-8/9 pm.

Who did he plan to give it to? It had to be someone who he knew would be delighted by the delicate plant/thing/object/flower.. Whoever it was, he was almost most certainly sure that it would be someone he knew form outside of his crew- they already had plenty of gifts and souvenirs/keepsakes. Plus, not all of them were into/interested in the same things- he was sure that none of them would very muh enjoy holding onto a flower(especially of this color/type) (and by how much care it took to survive./thrive.) Somebody who would care for it, and enjoy/love/adore/smth else it's looks and history/backstory/story/past?.

As he pondered/thought on the(is) topic, he had acquired/came up with a few ideas for people to leave the wonderful piece of nature/ancient nature to. These were a list of Mihawk, (buggy?), uta, and luffy.(.) He began to lower down/pick at/lessen/ consider/tick away at his few selections.

Mihawk certainly had a little garden of his own somewhere near the mansion, shanks was sure of it. The few/one of the times he had visited him in the middle of nowhere/for no reason whatsoever or at all/randomly, he could have sworn he saw a few different varieties of flowers, vines, and such at least.. Put they were all on the dark and gloomy/emo/gothy/aesthetic/vampirey side. They gave off completely different vibes and looks when compared to this one/then this flower did(classification), so that was probably out. Buggy would just tear the flower up right in front of his face and laugh and yell at him for being so 'gentle and soft', and Luffy would most likely accidentally forget to water it one(too many times too many?) So that left one more person.. His daughter, Uta. How come he hadnt come to that conclusion earlier? She would love something unique and pretty like this, and it fit her lifestyle perfectly. She had the time to care for it, and he knew it would be well kept if given to her..

Then it was settled. He would save this flower and care for it as his own plant until they could meet uta once again, and awkward as it might be after all this time, he would gift it to her to take care of instead.

As he made his way back upon the ship and the anchor was raised with a shout, shanks looked up to the sky. Stars twinkles in his view, and the moon shone over his face. The cape tossed over his back/shoulder flew in the wind while still attached to him as he (was deep in) thought.

Another smile made it's way onto his cave(face as he held the flower pot longer. He knew this was the right choice- such a piece of history would go to one of the most important people in his direct family.

He murmured into the air with a quiet voice.

"I'm coming for you, Uta.. I promise you I'll be there as soon as I can be, and I assure you I plan to make for all of my missed time.."

He retreated back to his cabin of his own, setting the plant on the desk near the bed/bedside table. Tomorrow was an entirely new day, new opportunities to get ready for. Shanks made sure to keep this in mind as his eyes closed for the night, the ship shifting in the waters as he did so.
