Okay, so like- People know the twins didn't save Azul from his bullies, right? They didn't even notice him during the worst of it. Jade and Floyd were also never mentioned to intervene with the bullying, unless I've somehow missed something in my many read-throughs of the story.

Like, that would be a major change in their dynamic. For one, it would make their claim of being mere business partners, the claim they make to one another and even to themselves, much harder to defend. Which is a claim they make, by the way. Floyd and Jade claim it, and so does Azul. They openly admit their friendship.

It also just puts them into childhood friend territory. Jade and Floyd were Azul's only friends as children, his comforts.

Except... They weren't. Floyd didn't even notice him until Sixth grade, after Azul has already started working on himself and his magic, after Azul had long grown prickly.

The twins didn't witness these changes happen, nor did they stop his bullies. They didn't even know him. In fact, Floyd still called Azul tako-chan when he developed his Unique Magic!

Essentially, though I feel like Azul and the twins' are definitely more than just business partners, close friends, really, they're not the typical childhood friend type. The twins didn't save Azul from his bullies, nor did they somehow believe in him the whole time.
