Soooooo, no.... Despite I like the idea, since Simon sound somewhat like "simion", which means it's monkey like (ok, Gorillas are apes, but monkyes too) it's false.

It comes from a mishearing;

In the epidode "Felix", Nathalie makes a call with sombody, saying:

I blackef out the words of Gabriel from the previous, disconnecting scene

And many peaple missheard "Someone" to "Simon", especially since the Gorilla was the "someone" who left to pick the person up

adriens gorillas name is actually simon! i only found this out afew weeks ago ( kinda shocking )
