Actually Lucas Sinclair is a green flag and I don’t say that often about characters.

He is a realistic character. He makes mistakes. He apologizes genuinely. He cares deeply about his friends. He still loves Max but doesn’t pressure her. He just wants her to know.

Lucas Sinclair deserves much more love than this fandom gives him.

Does anyone else who reads a lot of steddie fic get the vibe that a lot of fic writers just,,, don't really like Steve? So so tired of the trope of Eddie constantly making fun of all of his interests and music tastes and it being presented as totally okay and Eddie is right, actually, because his interests DO suck. Or the pile of fics that turn Steve so ooc he is completely unrecognizable because they turn him into a weak, crying damsel who needs Eddie to constantly save him. I also personally hate Punk!Steve because it usually just ends with completely stripping Steve of any of his unique personality traits and giving him Eddie's personality. Or making his entire life revolve around Eddie, he goes to every Hellfire and every band practice, like let him have hobbies and a life outside Eddie!

I think it comes from people having Eddie as their fave, and people like to ship so they ship him with Steve, but they don't really see Steve as an individual character in his own right and just treat him like Eddie's accessory.

gah thinking about agnes montague again and. i feel like we all forget some more unpleasant bits of her character that actually make her a lot more interesting? like. she’s canonically stated to have regularly “fed” on people growing up. there were lightless flame cult members whose job was literally to round up people for agnes to likely kill or at least severely injure/traumatize, and feed on their fear. yes agnes was a messiah figure against her will, no her hands are not clean.

she was a scared little girl with the powers of a hungry god, and she fed. and she kept feeding. to be an avatar is to hurt people. there’s no other way to be—an innocent avatar is a dead avatar. and, until her last waking moment, agnes lived and kept living. she was just a girl forced into the role of a monster, which led to her, later, being a monster trying to relearn what it is to just be a girl. she’s tragic and fucked up and not innocent in the slightest and it flattens her character to just show her as passive in her role as the messiah.
