A little something-something. VoicePlay is rehearsing in PattyCake and something unexpected happens.

Tony's going to ban them any time now.

Geoff wiped his forehead with his hand and frowned at the large drops of sweat on his palm. He was warmer than made sense, especially since they'd been in PattyCake's air-conditioned studio for some time. He picked up his water bottle from the table and chugged it down, but it did nothing to cool him off.

"Hey." Eli's hand felt icy on his arm. "Are you okay? You don't look so good."

"I don't feel so good." He felt the sweat literally dripping from his face as he leaned against the table and closed his eyes. His legs felt weak, and he was suddenly unbearably tired.

"Come on." Eli pulled him to a chair and sat him down. "Hey, Cesar! Get some ice water and a towel!"

Geoff heard Cesar reply. "Coming right up!"

Eli forced Geoff's chin up. "Geoff. Hey. Look at me." Geoff opened his eyes but they were blurry enough to where he couldn't have recognized Eli if he wasn't speaking. "Talk to me. What's wrong?"

Geoff yanked his shirt over his head and wiped his dripping face with it. "I feel like I'm in an oven." The world began to spin hard and he grabbed Eli's arms in panic. "Eli--"

He was out before he fell from the chair.

***

Eli cried out in surprise as Geoff fell to the floor. He yelled out for help, and it wasn't long before Layne, Tony, and Cesar--carrying the asked-for water and towel--came running. Layne knelt down next to Geoff. "What happened?!"

"He said he felt hot, then passed out." Eli looked at Cesar. "Give me those. And get more water." He wet the towel down and wiped Geoff's reddening skin down with it as Cesar ran out of the room again. "I think his temperature's still rising."

"How?" Tony asked.

"I don't know, but look at him!" Eli snapped. "Don't you have a thermometer here?"

"No."

Eli's response was cut off when Geoff's back arched. Layne rolled Geoff over onto his side, and Eli saw his mouth drop. "Uh...guys..."

Tony's eyes widened in shock, and Eli came around to see what was going on. His own eyes widened as he saw the two dark red, growing spots on Geoff's back. The spots elongated, running parallel on either side of Geoff's spine, and then began to push outward.

Layne quickly scooted out of the way and Tony and Eli stepped back. Cesar gasped as he came into the room and saw what was happening. "What the hell is that?"

"You think we know?" Layne asked, his eyes fixed on Geoff's back. There was a horrible tearing sound and a spray of blood as something large and black came out of Geoff's skin--

Wings, Eli realized. A pair of black, bat-like wings with black claws on the tips and bend, over six feet long each by Eli's estimate. The silence hung thick in the air as the four men looked at Geoff and each other, none of them knowing what was going on or what to do. Geoff's body slowly lost its red tinge as it cooled back down to normal, and the blood stopped flowing from where the wings sprouted, but still none of them said a word.

Cesar was the first to speak. "That's the coolest thing I've ever seen!"

Eli groaned. "Yeah. But wait until Kathy finds out."

You're very welcome! I had a lot of fun doing this and to be honest really want to do more!
