I discovered picrew today (thanks @chocolaspring!), and decided to try it out with a couple of my genderbent characters in the Coco fanfic I’m writing on AO3. This one is a female version of Hector: Harmonia. Ideally her skin tone and eyes would be darker, but this was the best I could do.
You drown yourself in music, movies, writing
And what does it get you, dear one?
A short while of escape, of forgetting
The house around you is silent and still
Devoid of life and movement but for that
Which you create yourself to drown out
The madness of silence.
The distractions fill the void for a little while
But in the end
You are still alone
My dad and I once had a disagreement over him using the adage "What doesn't kill you makes you stronger."
I said, "That's just not true. Sometimes what doesn't kill you leaves you brittle and injured or traumatized."
He stopped and thought about that for a while. He came back later, and said, "It's like wood glue."
He pointed to my bookshelf, which he helped me salvage a while ago. He said, "Do you remember how I explained that, once we used the wood glue on them, the shelves would actually be stronger than they were before they broke?"
I did.
"But before we used the wood glue, those shelves were broken. They couldn't hold up shit. If you had put books on them, they would have collapsed. And that wood glue had to set awhile. If we put anything on them too early, they would have collapsed just the same as if we'd never fixed them at all. You've got to give these things time to set."
It sounded like a pretty good metaphor to me, but one thing I did pick up on was that whatever broke those shelves, that's not the thing that made them stronger. That just broke them. It was being fixed that made them stronger. It was the glue.
So my dad and I agreed, what doesn't kill you doesn't actually make you stronger, but healing does. And if you feel like healing hasn't made you stronger than you were before, you're probably not done healing. You've got to give these things time to set.
Head empty only the possibility that Anakin's entire life was just infant-force-god-him playing with toys on one of those mats that are made to resemble a little town
only its a perfect replica of the galaxy and also kind of like a human-mode!tutorial because supernatural beings beyond our comprehension
he hasn't been born yet, when he is he will be in the real galaxy
he had to learn to equivalent of crawl and walk first
it's why the opening crawls read like story books
the mortis arc was his older brother picking him up out of his playpen while he was holding his obi and snips dolls
the dagger was his brother and his brothers oops babies being sent to their rooms
the force decided on a training playmat for anakin so he wouldn't accidentally create baby demigods while he was too young to be a parent like his brother did
the stuff that happened without him is just him telling the story and smushing his toys together
now that he's "dead"/grown out of the mat and playpen he has to cope with the fact that no one he loved was real they're all plushies
the ones older than him are based on real tiny beings in the galaxy but they haven't shared a life together and don't know him
and the force doesn't really understand why he's upset
