Being a writer can be a big burden. While it is a fun and healthy way to cope, it can also open up a lot of emotions and thoughts that you may not feel ready to face quite yet.

When you're feeling sad and overwhelmed, while it is very important to face it, sometimes you're just not ready to and that's okay. In those times, it is perfectly healthy and sane to put the writing aside for a while until you are ready to face it. You shouldn't have to force a change in your writing just to avoid things you don't want to think about. Instead, set it to the side until you can. Your writing and you deserve that much.

Who am I if I don’t have what it takes?

Although I’ve taken a year off, can I say the one thing I was worried about for college is writing a senior thesis and I still am. Like, I’ve heard teachers say how they wrote 30-50 pages about this, this, and this and I’m just sitting there like bro…fam…there is no way you were interested enough in what you said your topic was to write that much info. (Which my 11th grade teacher did admit.)

The only thing I could write more than 30 pages on are my fandoms. Like, do you want me to explain why character A and B belong together, but also explain how their trauma from childhood effected them but they rose above it and became this amazing person who deserves all good things in the world? Because I can write a whole novel if that’s what the professor wants.
