ok so,,, post catalyst,,,, can u imagine thatcher calming down adam after like,, either a big argument or just the catalyst events in general. something big enough to have adam in a pretty bad state. and, thatcher in an attempt to calm him down calls him "my sweet boy" jUST like intruder does in vol4 and things just go so far downhill

i HAVE to share this with someone and all my friends are very tired of me talking about Adam Murray every day and i feel like you could see the angst and hurt potential here

AHGHGHHRGHHAGHHHHHHHH FUCK ME... FUCK MY ENTIRE LIFE......

okay i'll be honest i do have a hard time imagining thatcher verbatim saying that, at least definitely not right after catalyst. but let's say that DOES happen, or maybe adam mishears/misinterprets what thatcher was saying to him while trying to console him (i mean in this scenario he's having a bad time already)

just imagine how much that would fuck him up. suddenly he's back in that basement again- or his desolate dark room, illuminated only by the screen with an uncanny face on it telling him the awful truth. and that only makes him spiral down more. his anger turning into pure terror as he's reminded of the thing that put him in this situation in the first place. i can imagine adam freezing up or maybe even yelling in response, absolutely horrified at thatcher's words. and thatcher doesn't even know what to do, he has no idea why adam reacted that way because the kid never tells him anything ever. and things go so much worse!! they're having a terrible time!!!

i love the comforting dadtcher and adam dynamic i see post catalyst but let's be real by the time the two got more comfortable with each other their everyday interactions would change drastically. they both are EXTREMELY fucked up but on different sides of the spectrum so you can only imagine how that ends up

like yeah thatcher is still his empathetic self and sees himself in adam but he's not above smacking the back adam's head when he acts up. he's not afraid to scold him when adam is being reckless. he's the quickest to shut down his attitude

and adam acts like a bratty troubled teenager around thatcher it's hysterical. once he's a bit over his breakdown over being an alternate he's back to being his snarky self. like yeah he's trying to redeem himself but he's still sort of an ass <3 (dw he's getting there) he still shoplifts and trespasses and gets both him and thatcher in trouble much to the other's dismay

and like. none of this would be a bad thing. if anything i think them being so infuriating to one another and being fine with it not just because the end justifies the means but because they bonded is great actually. they're so similar and yet clash so badly but that doesn't change the fact that as the world crumbles around them they can only rely on each other. found family NOT by choice but man are they glad they found each other as shit hits the fan nonetheless
