At least now more people know the reason Katara was confused about her feelings for Aang wasn't because of the typical Kataang shipper logic of ~Katara feared losing Aang to Ozai so she was denying her feelings for him to spare herself from the pain~. That's such a convoluted argument anyway, lol.

It really was because Katara couldn't decide whether she loved Aang like a little brother or as a potential boyfriend (ew). Katara's feelings for Aang were ambiguous, and Aang thought she treated him like a brother most of the time. So, seeing it reflected in the play hit too close to home for him.

Katara becoming Aang's girlfriend was not only his reward for saving the world, but also a narrative device signalling to the audience that Aang had matured to the point where Katara could now view him as a boyfriend rather than the little brother she had to babysit.

The romantic development for Kataang really just revolved around Aang moving out of the "brother-zone", huh? Katara and Aang are siblings by chance, lovers by choice. ❤️
