[image description: drawing of Jack Bauer Dickrats based on The Trail to Oregon. He stands in the centre, his arms crossed over his chest and his eyes drawn as crosses, with blood trickling from his mouth. Around him are figures with the bodies of humans but the heads of animals: to the left is a donkey or horse and a goat, above is the chicken, to the right is the pig and cow. They all reach out to him. The piece is dark, with purple lighting, making everything look purple or pink except from his mouth with glows bright red. End ID]

we have GOT to talk about welcome to toyzone because it’s a fantastic villain song that I feel like gets overlooked but—it’s SUCH a powerful and good-sounding song that sets up frank/capitalism as a really chillingly awful fellow antagonist with wiggly
AND Corey fucking killed the vocals, the RANGE on that man, you can HEAR the shit-eating grin on his face with the ‘we capitalists - we are honest :}’ line and i LOVE it
I found Hatchetfield’s real life location!
I remember someone telling me that Nick Lang said in an interview that he imagined Hatchetfield as being an island in one of the Great Lakes, which would make sense, since Team StarKid started at the university of Michigan. I was looking at Google Maps today to see if I could figure out which lake it was. I saw that Lake Huron had several islands, including one with a yacht club, but nothing significant. Then, I decided to try and find Clivesdale, which I picture as being on a peninsula. It turns out that there is a peninsula which matches my mental image, and on this peninsula is a tiny town called Bad Axe.

Bad Axe was founded in the mid 1800s by George Willis Pack who, presumably like the Men with Hatchets, worked in the logging industry. He found the area while exploring Huron county wilderness, and named the town after a damaged hatchet he found there. And Bad Axe high school’s mascot is “The Hatchets”!
Bad Axe has a few other similarities to Hatchetfield, including an auto repair shop, a place called Pete’s Bar which could be the inspiration for Pizza Pete’s, and, most notably, a coffee shop called Emma’s Coffee House! this can’t be a coincidence.

Several notable people have lived in Bad Axe, including film editor Bob Murawski, who worked on “The Gift”, a horror movie about a woman with psychic powers, similar to how The Gift works in Hatchetfield; and William Potts, the inventor who first created traffic lights with yellow lights, the first of which was placed in Detroit, at the intersection of Michigan Avenue and Woodward avenue, which must have been the inspiration for Bill and Alice’s last name!
Clearly, Hatchetfield has more basis in reality than we initially thought. And whatever Nick lang is planning, it’s very complex, but this could be the key to solving more of Hatchetfield’s mysteries!

Hatchetober day 6: powers
Love that funky lil ukulele, love to see what magical properties it may have
